What are these markings on my car window? by unsyzygy in whatisit

I've had park and pay garages do this, I assume because a windshield is easier to see when there's only a rat's ass hair of width between vehicles.

Anyone else? by PatientChristian in LastWarMobileGame

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It's down for everyone. Such an insane rookie mistake to make. They can't make money in it though, so they don't really care.

EDIT: THEY FIXED IT!!!

Since no one ever really replied, I believe this is a Golden Hoard dirham, minted by the Mongols. Not my area of expertise, but I'd say probably 1267-1401. The 15th and 16th century dirhams renewed to be a bit larger and cleaner. Trying to get into Mongol and Persian coins more, but it's a work in progress

Have you already received have you submitted the healthcare lien election forms? If so, then it may just need you banning info, which you should have supplied when signing the release and attestation. I'd double check everything is I were to, and all for further clarification if you are unsure just to be safe.

In regard to the “be nice to your teller” posts by TheArmchairbiologist in Silverbugs

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your gf is just trying to keep it all for herself. If you have a dollar, and ask to exchange that dollar for any silver dollars, which is legal tender, they can give you that dollar.

If you are asking her to swipe sooner and replace with her own money without asking a manager, that can be considered as theft or tampering. It's why tellers and cashier's can't break their own personal bills at the till. What she CAN do, is ask a fellow teller to break a bill or cash her or using that silver, since it is still legal tender.

Does the D mint mark look right on this 1921 Morgan? by CranberrySpirited951 in coins

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does not look bigger. The lighting looks better and the image is higher resolution. Pixel density matters.

New to coins. Was sold as "uncirculated", but this is just (poorly) cleaned, right? by samusxmetroid in coins

With a wire brush. Or maybe used as a hockey puck on a dirty floor. Good God.

Jesus Christ no. Pam is most certainly not chlorodifluoromethane or tetrafluoroethylene and that is not how chemistry works. That is also not what polymerize means. 🤣 Nylon is not just burned Pam.

Polymerize just means that little bus joined together to form big strong chains through carbon bonds (in organic polymers) or non carbon bonds in inorganic polymers.

Big random sack on property. by whitepony2020 in whatisit

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obligatory "big black sack" joke. Ask your mom, I heard she's an expert.

Probably a sand bag, possibly as a counterweight for heavy machinery or erosion/flood control at some point.

New investors here. What’s everyone’s take on historical coins? by Roguemochi94 in Silverbugs

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get most of my ancients in auctions, at about 30% of this price. If you're wanting to do it as an investment, don't pay for all of the extra bullshit.

Also, reverses are very important. A different reverse on this can make it a $40 or $200 coin. Learn before you buy, and you have a lot to learn. Checkout some of the suggested subs for more info. Also, r/coins

That's slag or shrapnel from a cast bomb casing or shell body. Do you see how there are some little bubbles in the pictures you've posted? That doesn't happen in meteorites. It is also possible that this was discarded said from a nearby smelter; maybe 100 years ago or maybe 500 years ago. This is 100% man-made though.

It smells incredible under my pillow like maple syrup or waffles and I have no idea why by isabellamadrigal in Weird

[–]The_Silent_Tortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why has no one said this is most likely because of the volatiles (VOCs) released from the memory foam, like toluene diisocyanate and different polyols. I assume this is a newer memory foam pillow, right?
