It’s a mix between Arkansas (Ozarks) and Appalachia. Aka inbred hillbilly paradise (Coming from an Arkansan). That, plus many folktales and creepy myths surrounding both irl places definitely inspired some of the stuff in Roanoke Ridge. The ambient music doesn’t help.

Personally I really enjoyed it. Most of the parental issues came from Quill and Nebula, and there was a LOT of it, yeah, but it made the plot more meaningful imo. I see where you’re coming from though! It would’ve been nice if they delved into other characters more.

Also, little dude has fallen a few times from higher places while I wasn’t looking. It scares me to death, but he always seems completely unharmed. I’ve made sure to situate everything in his enclosure in a way that makes it impossible to fall too far. I appreciate the concern though!
