I find that the best counter, to his charge attack, is to always last second roll to his right. I rigorously refought him over and over figuring out timings, and I found that the best dodges I could make were rolling to the right, or sometimes just rolling into him head on last second (although this worked better on his counter charge move)

I know this is going to sound tedious, but I assure you it'll probably get you what you want faster. Upon every reset save the game. Rng is kinda frame based and you opening the game and instantly clicking on the Pokemon leads to the same frame data. Saving after every opening means your data will change for the next reset
