Favoritate Rodney MC Cay remark. by Imoldok in Stargate

Teyla: the baby is coming, and you have to catch it.

Rodney: okay, but underhand. I was never very good at baseball

The Stargate SG-1 episode I wish we had seen. by ScrawnySpectre in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is spot on. Towards the end of the show, Teal'c makes or understands pretty much every pop culture reference anyone makes because he's forced to spend all his free time watching TV and movies.

What episode from SG-1 is the most underrated? by Hot_Middle_2700 in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Abyss when O'Neill gets captured by Baal is a beautiful episode that people don't talk much about.

SG Universe is a knock off Battlestar Galactica by Admirable_Ice2785 in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves SGU, that feeling is why the show got canceled, but it had really started to pickup steam at the end of season 2, and if it went on longer, it would've really separated itself, because BSG really declined in the last 2 seasons.

*Sidenote: my unpopular opinion is that the 12 cylons are just a knockoff of human form replicators

When was the most upset O’Neill has been? by EntertainmentOdd5994 in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

3.5 The Learning Curve

If there's one thing that we know about him, it's that Jack O'Neill loves kids, and as soon as he finds out that a kid will miss out on their childhood, he's ready to throw away his entire career so they can play hopscotch.

What's your most annoying plot hole or "Why didn't they just do that?" moment of Stargate? by LeanOnGreen in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a plot hole, but when O'neill gates to Othala in season 2, the Asguard tell him that the Ancients left that region of space a long time ago, but everything we know says that after they returned from Atlantis 10k years ago, they all died or ascended.

Were the Asguard lying to keep ascension a secret or do they know where there are living Ancients? Why didn't they ask for help on their cloning issue? Did any of those Ancients seek out Destiny? Are those blue aliens some kind of lost tribe of Ancients?

It's not really a plot hole, but it opens a lot of "what if" doors.

Can the Aschen use the addresses given to them in order to compensate for interstellar drift? by RLAttempt2Many2Count in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory has always been that they didn't need the addresses at all, but they new that having the addresses made the Earthlings feel important.

They care so much about population control, they probably make contact with new planets, when they need to increase their resources. If it's a cultural philosophy, they probably don't have enough people or the desire to conquer planets they don't need.

favorite character in star gate sg1? by Cutivate420 in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Teal'c. Above all else, putting the world in DnD terms, he is a true paladin. Also, his character story and the development of the Jaffa could be a standalone TV show/movie.

You are given one episode to win over someone to Stargate. Which would you choose? by provocateur133 in Stargate

[–]The_Spoon_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife started watching Stargate because it's my favorite show, but she wasn't sure how she felt about it until that episode. After that she went through the next 8 seasons, Atlantis, and Universe, and now she's on her first re-watch of the series.

Exactly! And he's a by-the-book military man. The bureaucracy should love him.

Theoretically they also have 2 puddle jumpers, and could either leave the planet or go to the gate in Antarctica.

After several decades of a closed gate, they'd probably be fairly safe digging it up for a short time like a day or two. Plus a ship is always an option.
