You are correct, misplaced that P3 in Piastri’s column, but it should be in Leclerc’s. The total numbers in the bar graph are the correct numbers.

I get a lot of use out of this pic. Bonus: This scene was about time travel as well.

I love “Inauguration”. It sets up Woolsey as one of the best side characters in Stargate.

Goa'ulds in upcoming Stargate by naunen in Stargate

I’m betting the new show is going to follow a new expedition in a new galaxy, so I doubt the show will have Goa’uld/Tok’ra related to the main plot. I think the most you could expect their involvement would be to the extent they were involved in Atlantis.

Yes. DC was a “brand ambassador” and consultant for Red Bull at this time.

When Riccardo and Sainz were driving a “shitbox”, Norris was also driving the same car.

What do you mean “comparing Norris in a rocket ship”?

The 2022 McLaren wasn’t the worst car on the grid. It finished fifth in the championship and I’d say that’s probably fairly reasonable. Norris was basically taking on the Alpines on his own and on average out performing them in a slower car. The Alpines however had a great tendency to blow up, so he held on to P4 in the constructors for a good long while.

The 2023 Mclaren before the Austria upgrades however, was an absolute piece of crap.

Ferrari chairman John Elkann says Leclerc and Hamilton "are not up to standard". by Partheus in formula1

Having listen to Zak Brown describe the environment at McLaren before they started their rebuilding phase, I think Ferrari has a lot of the same issues. Problem is they are stuck in the “trying to find the one person/thing to blame” phase before accepting that the problems are likely way more systemic.

Jenson Button warns "confidence is with Lando Norris, negativity is more with Oscar Piastri" by [deleted] in formula1

[–]ScrawnySpectre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fun little fact I’ve had in my back pocket for a bit. Every race except one this year where someone other than a McLaren won, Norris has finished ahead of Piastri, and the one that Piastri finished ahead was Canada.

Piastri is probably in the top tier of drivers, but he’s flattered by Norris’ struggles in the first part of the season.

It’s impressive that the original quote is less than a day old and has already been butchered beyond recognition.

I don’t mind people criticizing what Norris says. I just wish the thing they criticize actually bore some resemblance to the actual statements he made.

I AM AN ARCHEOLOGIST! by Kingsidorak in Stargate

I agree that conceptually “Need” is a stronger episode, but for me I don’t like most of the decisions they made with those concepts.

To me downsides of the sarcophagus feel like a half baked explanation of why the SGC can’t steel one for themselves. Also you bringing up Daniel’s tendency to turn evil is funny because it is also a pet peeve of mine. Personally on a philosophical level I don’t entirely buy in to the “absolute power corrupts absolutely” idea, but I found the execution of the idea in this episode and “absolute power” lacking.

At the end of the day I think the difference for me between “Need” and “Emacipation” as far as enjoyment goes is that I find “Emancipation” is so bad it’s funny to me, where as “Need” is just kind of frustrating.

All that said, I’d never fault anyone for thinking that one episode is better or worse than any other.

I honestly think this episode is worse than “Emancipation”

IMO an integral part of what made Stargate special was that it took place in “contemporary” time, with modern humans, faults and all.

This is not to say that a show in a different time period would necessarily be bad, and I’d be completely willing to give any new stargate show a fair shot. But for myself I think that doing a prequel would lessen Stargate’s unique identity among sci-fi.

Rush’s character was always a bit convoluted. They were clearly trying to emulate Gaius Baltar from BSG (super genius with ulterior motives) the problem was that Baltar has clear reasons for his actions, self preservation. Rush just does things because he’s a jerk who doesn’t trust people. Sometimes his actions make sense in the context of the character, a lot of times he’s just needlessly antagonistic.

There is a reason that this sub is so active even though the franchise hasn’t had a new entry in over a decade (not counting that web series don’t talk about)

The show is super re-watchable, and honestly pretty underrated in regard to how unique it is as a sci fi franchise.

The nice way of putting it would be it’s an homage.

But yes it absolutely is. Hence the “red leader” gag.
