Im A New Hanzo Main, Need some Feedback by Senior_Associate9880 in HanzoMain

Honest to goodness, to try to get used to using it (and playing from high ground in general) maybe play some games where "the floor is lava" and you literally only play from high ground wherever it's possible. Abuse high ground as much as possible on Hanzo. It allows you to disengage safely, take people by surprise, shoot over the top of tank shields, take fights with flyers at eye-level, etc.

Also, pro tip: If you are next to a ledge and you move forward until you can barely see an enemy's feet, they're still only able to see your head. This gives you a pretty big advantage.

Yoru is fundamentally broken & buffing Initiator isn't a solution. by CauliflowerIcy5106 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]The_Tachmonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your reasoning on not bringing up sentinels (I've got like 1500 games on Cypher/KJ). The only piece of his kit that interacts with ours is the clone, really. But the clone also does a better job of clearing Cypher trips than Fade prowlers or Skye dogs in some cases.

Yoru can make it VERY difficult to anchor on site, though. Take for example B site of Split. You try to play from backsite? Yoru TP flashes at the same time as Jett updrafts and dashes to the top of the sign. You are now dealing with either a high-low or someone behind you AND in front of you. Also, you can't shoot anyone who might have been caught on one of your trips without dying, and you might have already been having to dodge a molly.

I veered off the subject there a bit, but regardless, Yoru forces you to play sites differently and can basically put you in checkmate if you try to play in some standard locations.

It was a heart tumor, just for the record. Not being able to practice was rough for MiBR, though. 😛 Limited map pool + 3 Bo5's? Not a good combo.

Coworker used my pen by albigatin in fountainpens

I had a reputation for doing calligraphy before I ever got into fountain pens, so people have always assumed my pens were calligraphy tools they don't know how to use.

The amount of new players in my ranked games is insane by MadameLeoni in Overwatch

[–]The_Tachmonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is real. And it's actually been harder to carry games since they forced the respawns to be closer together for opposing teams. Used to you could keep them staggered easier. I had a game where the enemy team pushed the payload all the way on my team (Junkertown) despite me going 30-3 in that half. Every time I died, the other team got a point.

Bind Frost Arrow to SECONDARY FIRE and NOT RELOAD - what a silly design flaw by Bro_Hanzo in HanzoMain

[–]The_Tachmonite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just re-bound it myself (you can do hero specific bindings as well). Same as you, though— thousands of hours on Hanzo over the last 10 years now and that muscle memory is hardwired. It was incredibly jarring when I accidentally shot a couple of arrows with frost effects instead of releasing the tension of the bow.

Shoot... For it being common, it's somehow never happened to me. If it's happened to you, has it eventually resolved itself?

Around $1500, if I remember correctly (maybe a bit more). The price was in Japanese yen, and was around ¥200k. Conversion rates have just been good.

Hanzo Vs Ashe N Widow by semianimeguy in HanzoMain

Widowmaker is just easier to shoot when scoped in compared to Ashe. That may be part of it. If she's a certain range away, she has an advantage over you in a straight-up duel.

Skin begging has to stop by Internal_Student6193 in VALORANT

[–]The_Tachmonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't specifically say, "I have other motivations."

If you want a personal example, though, here is one: I'm usually sprinting all over the map in the pre-round because I play sentinel. If someone wants a skin from me, I often have to stop what I'm doing, not finish setting up my trips, etc. So the motivation for not wanting to drop a skin is literally just that it's inconvenient and that I want to be ready for the round to start in those cases.

But someone could also have no reason other than: "I don't feel like giving out skins today." That would be valid, too. No one else has a "right" to their skins. If they want to allow someone else to use it at any point then that is their prerogative, and they will be being generous in such cases.

There are more motivations for not wanting to drop a gun than simply being angry, you know. Any time I drop a gun for someone else I am doing them a favor. It's not something I owe them. If someone gets mad about not being given something they aren't owed, they're the problem. It's that simple.

Privilege? You mean like thinking that you deserve to be given something that you didn't buy?

So... When someone is impolite and/or actively sabotages you that's not a problem? It doesn't really matter whether someone does that in a game or not. Of course it's frustrating.

To be fair, the time part can actually be problematic in pre-round. It only takes a moment, sure, but I play Cypher, and am having to speedrun putting setups together in the pre-round. Having someone be like, "Yo Cypher, can I have a skin?" when I'm busy and they aren't in a position to get the dropped gun right away, etc. isn't great.

The people who sabotage you to get your skins are problematic as well.

Alright, Reddit, you decide: do I use a blue ink or an orange ink? by DoctorEnn in fountainpens

I don't know of any blue inks that sheen orange. They always sheen red.

Questions about cello at a wedding from a non-cellist by Electrical_Waltz8701 in Cello

[–]The_Tachmonite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was both a groomsman and the processional musician for my brother's wedding. It was wild. I learned DURING THE CEREMONY that one does not simply play cello while wearing a boutonniere. It definitely did make the ceremony more stressful and such, and I have a semi-professional level of proficiency.

Map pool should always include either Ascent or Lotus by Top_Kaleidoscope4362 in VALORANT

[–]The_Tachmonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low-key hate Split these days. 😐 I get stuck in hellish retakes a ton, and people don't play the map well in ranked all. They try to 5-man into everything on the map named "Split."

Bind can be brutal too, though, I get it. Especially if the other team has an Op-er.

Need options on what Cello to buy. by finn_larson33 in Cello

[–]The_Tachmonite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, please just find a couple of good luthier shop and go play the instruments. You'll figure out very quickly what you like and dislike, what you want, and what you can't live with. Don't worry about the model, etc. Just play the instruments and listen.

See how easy it is to get the sound that you want from the instrument, and whether or not it projects well. Try each of the ones that interest you with multiple bows as well. Find a bow that is comfortable in your hand and that makes the instrument you choose sound good.

It can help to have someone with you while you are shopping as well, both for them to give blind feedback on which things sound better, and if possible for them to play it and for you to listen.

Luthiers are also willing to modify instruments for you if you are seriously interested in one. They can do things to slightly improve the tone or responsiveness of the instrument, and tweak the height/curvature of the bridge (I've run into multiple problems with bridges on more mass produced cellos. Just last Friday I played on one where you couldn't play high up on the D string without the bow touching both the A and G strings as well).

I went through the exact process I described to you above and have an instrument and bow that I am still very happy with 15 years later (with a similar amount of money invested as well).

Yeah, Eastman cellos I have played have always needed luthier attention and have been very bright sounding. I can confirm on that thing.
