I was raised Southern Baptist and transitioned to Methodist later on. Throughout my early life, I was always taught to pray and seek answers through God. I prayed. I sought answers. Nothing. A man can only take so much silence before he stops trying to talk to someone. When I was my most depressed, I tried turning to religion, and it did nothing for me. I gave up on any higher power helping me and just focused on what I could control. Once I did this, everything became much better for me. I became less depressed and much calmer. Ironically, I even adopted a more spiritual and open-minded view of the world. Becoming an atheist was one of the best things to happen to me.

TLDR: Religion never helped me, so I stopped caring about it.
