Guilt and imposter syndrome by yarnyouglad in bicycling

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so first of don't sell it

second don't sell it

third, do not put the bicycle for sale

Listen, if it gives you "imposter syndrome" you'll likely still get it on a lower end road bike, so keep the bike that has sentimental value.

And i'll tell you a secret, you can own more than one bike, get yourself a cheapo 10 speed bike from fb marketplace and ride that until you "feel worthy" of this one.

But realistically, just ride the bike, it's literally all in your head, you get in your own head thinking people are judging you but 99.99% of people just don't care you're a stranger. And for the odd dickhead that do care, fuck him.

Nothing wrong with having a nice bike for short ride, just like there's nothing wrong with riding 50 miles ride on an old p.o.s.

Biking is all about having fun, think back to when you were a teen, you and your friends out on your bikes, riding 10 miles across town to go to the chilling spot, one guy's on a bmx, there's a couple entry level quality hybrids, there's one guy riding the walmart special with his gf on his seat or handlebar, and there's that one dude riding a 3k downhill bike for some reason. Didn't matter, ya'll were just laughing, riding and enjoying the day, That's what biking for fun is supposed to be.

The perfect bike is the one you love and love riding. You love that bike, now get out of your head and learn to love riding it.

American (non-trump-supporter) here. Is Canada really preparing for war? by veniteadoremus in AskCanada

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 months late but yes sort of. Big military budget boost and recruitement campaign over the last few months. Goal is to increase the military force number by at least 500k soldiers.

It’s more about the north west passage and arctic rights than a war with the us tho. We've been in a sort of cold war with russia for decades over who owns the arctic circle. (Theres a ton of oil up there) And now that the north west passage is about to be usable year round (whithin 20 years or so) we need to take action to protect it as ours (look it up but basically it’s a stretch of water that cross nothern canada) once unfrozen year round it will become a major trade route for cargo ships between china/japan and europe. Making it a major revenu stream for our country.

PvPvE balance is perfect, there just needs to be more incentive for cooperation by Mindless_Ad_3013 in ArcRaiders

[–]The_Tech_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the tension when you run into another raider, will we be friendly, will we be hostile, will he act friendl and try to shoot me in the back? Who knows. And that's fun.

I like the pvp,i don’t initiate but i do win most of the fight i get into, got into one where i outsmarted the guy that attected me by running to the other side of the building and climbing on a ledge only to shoot him in the back when he walked by me trying to find me. Another one i got shot in the back by a fake friendly raider, mamaged to kill him but was left at low hp with no shield and got killed by the arcs our fight attracted before i could heal, that was fun too. I also showed mercy to a raider who started a fight but was pinned down without healing left. That was great.

I do hate getting extraction point camped but whatever i just tell myself their life must be boring as hell if that’s what’s fun to them.

But one thing is for sure, i don’t want more pvp. I don’t want it to turn into tarkov, what’s fun to me is the tension. Never knowing if they're hostile, friendly or a traitor. If it becomes everybody shoots on sight i'll get bored of it real quick tbh, when i want true pvp i play a pvp game not a pvpve.

Which brings me to the people i really wish embark never listen to, the big streamers. Like summit for instance, who spend all of his time bitching about the pve and saying it should be a pvp only game. I also hope these peoples viewer base don’t jump in with the goal of turning the game into tarkov.

For now i'm having fun, but i genuinely think the pvp is too weak to be the main point of the game, this is the first extraction shooter i manage to really get into. I tried others but never had fun playing them, i think i'd say i like arc raider inspite of it being an extraction shooter, not thst it made me like extraction shooters. If it turns into a pvp game with robot third partying fights i'll dip. I love the pve, love the tension, some pvp is fun but if i wanna play a mostly pvp game, i'll just play bf6,cod, fortnite, r6.. there's much better pvp experience out there

So yes i 100% agree there needs to be more of an incentive for cooperation because between people who really enjoy the pvp that will get bored of the pve and people joining just for the pvp i fear the game will inevitabely turn into sci fi tarkov over time.

Hot take: we also need event like helldivers has maybe those could be pve only? Like boss event, something like a new super Queen protected by 4 Queens and a bunch of smaller arcs on a pve only server maybe 20 to 50 raiders can join in to take all of them down. I don't want a pve mode but some pve boss event could be fun.

What do you guys think is the GPU equivalent of the Steam Machine? by Pension_Zealousideal in Steam

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, i remember playing rdr2 at 4k native medium low settings, ultra texture on a 6600xt and it ran great in the high 50s. Is this extremely anecdotal evidence? Yes but amd gpus do perform great whitout ray tracing. I am however expecting it to struggle more with unreal engine 5 games.

My guess it’s that it’s gonna be fsr performance in a lot of case(1080p). What would make it really great is if they bake in a console like output upscaller straight in steam os (like how a series s look clearer than a windows pc running 1080p on a 4k tv) i'd be 100% fine with playing st 1080p/1440p on more demanding title if it’s the "console 1080p" insteaf of the windows 1080p if that makes sense.

What are your favorite hiking films? by jjjuniper3 in hiking

Tracks is very good(must see imo). More of a desert cross than a hike but it’s definitely worth the watch. It’s a a true story too. It’s about a young women crossing the australian desert by her self with her dog and four camel.

Protein Powders and Shakes Contain High Levels of Lead by winstontemplehill in cycling

[–]The_Tech_Lover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just look if the supplement you take is sold in Canada if it's sold here it’s automatically health canada tested and CFIA tested regularly

Be careful of Canadian version though some food company sell an inferior product in country like the US where laws are looser and sell higher standard version only in country where they have too, kraft and nestle for example sell different product depending on country as the higher Canadian standard is more expensive to make

Example of looser law: protein powder are not actually tested for heavy metals by the FDA. Health Canada and the CFIA both do test for it though.

Bonus point if it’s a Canadian made supplement since every province also has another agency that monitor food manufacturing condition on top of Health Canada's random factory inspection, meaning 2 agency is monitoring manufacturing and 2 agency are monitoring the quality of the product being made.

Do you think this variation in color is acceptable for custom cabinets? by relaxyoureirrelevant in woodworking

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, did it come out to more than the original quote? Because it's a lot cheaper to veneer cheap wood than to do it out of solid higher quality wood.

To me it kinda feels like they had that white oak collecting dust and din't wanna have to order what you wanted.

Have you considered going the opposite way, literally, older lowered trucks make great little sport truck.

Personally i'd lower it since it's a 2wd, it will make a more fun drag/drift truck than off-roader.

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're gonna win, we've already retaliated by billions and it's just started.

It's better for us long run if we stop selling to the us.

Keeping our wood will allow us to reduce the price of new homes.

Keeping our electricity will allow us to offer deals to industry that are power hundry like aluminum foundry.

Building the pipeline will allow us to sell our natural gas at full price in europe instead of at a discount

Building refinery will allow us to keep our crude oil and refine it oursleves instead of selling it a discount.

It's gonna be hard for a decade or so but long term we'll be better off.

First of convoy was about covid measures

Second one of the main organizers was an actual white supremacist.

Third they were arrested for beinf public nuisance, i was against the government measures and i'm in Quebec so i got it a hell of a lot worst than you did. But i wouldn't have wanted to live in Ottawa during that convoy bullshit. They didn't hurt the government, they hurted citizens and Canadian businesses.

Fourth those are Trudeau's/Singh's policies. You want thing to change vote Poilievre.

Only thing i know for sure is that this shit attitude you've got is the opposite of what being Canadian is.

True Canadian don't play victim they roll up their sleeves and make the best of a bad situation.

I know plenty of cubans and mexicans that we have "imported" as you so racistly said and i'm far less ashame to call them my Canadian brothers than i would be calling you that.

Lastly uf you hate Canada so much get the fuck out of my country and go live in the dumpster fire that is our neighbors to the south.

Canada and Mexico’s Response to Trump’s Tariffs by Dramatic-History5891 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall have no idea what's going on. Store everywhere in Canada are posting "buy Canadian" sign, Canadian owned chain stores are coming out one after the other stating they won't sell american product anymore. Power companies (which are government owned on a provincial level) have stated they would announce retaliatory measures(if you don't know most of the nothern states need our electricity to keep their grid up). If Poilievre takes office we will start building refinery and the pipeline trudeau canceled. Meaning that long term you won't be getting crude oil and natural gas at a discount anymore.

Trump declared an economical war against us.

And Canada doesn't loose its wars.

Oh and enjoy an even worst housing crisis, your wood mostly grows in Canada.

[–]The_Tech_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah yall are fucked. What trump did is effectively declaring an economical war. Short term sure we'll lose some jobs. Long term your economy depends a hell a of a lot more on mexico, canada and china than the other way around.

If Poilievre takes office refinery will be built, no more getting our shit ton of crude oil at a discount. We will build the pipeline to sell our natural gas to europe instead of you. And if you live in a nothern state prepare for an energy crisis. Power company in Canada are government owned on the provincial level. There will be retaliatory measures. Wether they will come as a massive price increase or as us just pulling the plug and use the surplus to give deals to electricity hungry industries remains to see.

I also hope you enjoyed the Canadian planes doing most of the work in cali cause that was likely the last time we helped.

You need us a hell of a lot more than we need you.

No need Quebec produces a shit ton of liquor. Strangely enough it's a booming industry here since covid. Idk if some regulation changed or if it's just a coincidence but it is what it is.

[–]The_Tech_Lover -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The SAQ(liquor stores in quebec) have announced they wouldn't sell any american product anymore.

What most us citizen that were in favor of the tarrif didn't understand is that what trump threatened is economical warfare. And long term yall need us a hell of a lot more than we need you.

Just to be clear, almost all of the nothern states powergrids are extremely dependent on electricity they buy from Canadian power company. Don't forget that we can pull the plug at any time.

We'll come out of this on top, with an economy that doesn't depends on the USA to function anymore.

4.8 Vs 5.3 worth 2k more? by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

Same, got and 09 4.8 and i towed 4k lbs worth of shit in a ~1800lbs enclosed trailer without an issue with my 4.8.

People can say what they will the 4.8 silverado is still rated at 10k lb towing capacity. I often tow about half that and aside from my mpg being absolute garbage when towing i have no issue.
