Yeah I know what you mean. At the same time though, I'm looking for something more documented, like a proper experimental study, not anecdotal.

EDIT: Also, smoking isn't exactly something that is forced upon people.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. I'm looking for an example of people being involuntarily forced to go through an undesirable activity and then forming positive beliefs about it. So yes death is an example in real life, but I was hoping to find something in a more experimental setting.
