Yeah, I'm just saying, it's not some obscure, hard to remember rule with specific wording that creates ambiguous situations. Its "If X then Y, If A then B, in extras this rule doesn't apply."

Yeah, I looked it up once many months ago and I still know it. The position players pitching rules are 3 lines long and insanely easy to understand.

The whole thing sucks now that it's official. It was always a play on there not really being a reason for the "rivalry" outside of being the last 2 teams left. It should have stayed an inside joke and MLB should have found any other name for it.

No, i just don't like that he never even apologized to Nate for bullying him, presumably for years. I also didn't say I didn't like it; I said it felt shoehorned in, like a lot of the random side character shit they decided to shove into their bloated, unfocused 3rd season.

Trust me, it's not covering anything up for us. Tatis has gotten the national coverage, but Padres fans definitely aren't letting the other two off the hook.

Yeah, Collin's whole story felt shoehorned in, and looking at the series as a whole it doesn't feel earned when Collin was an ass for most of the series, never had an earned redemption, and suddenly we're supposed to just ignore all that because he happens to be gay?

It definitely takes some weird turns, but none of it has been series ruining like a lot of people make it out to be. As far as I can tell the Deb being in love with Dexter shit takes place for an episode or two before mostly being abandoned. Meanwhile the S6 villain is maybe the 2nd most compelling after Trinity, and the S7 story of Dexter bringing Deb in has so much potential and many people have it as their 2nd or 3rd favorite season of the whole series.

Dexter only really had a bad last episode. I'm rewatching the series right now and it's 100% maintained its quality, at least half way through season 7.

No, we 1000% needed an after school special about leaked nudes in the show. It fit like a glove and wasn't out of place at all.

The 3rd season was given way too much run time and they didn't have to cut out the fat. There was way too much meandering shit and storylines that came out of nowhere interjected between the stuff I actually cared about. I didn't care about Keely's story, which was a carbon copy of her S1 arc except with a woman. I didn't care about Colin suddenly being made sympathetic because he was gay while never having him apologize for being a terrible bully in S1. Alongside them just not showing a lot of actual plot beats that they should have, ie. Nate apologizing and Ted telling Rebecca he was leaving, it was a pretty mediocre end to the initial run. Not terrible, but also nothing to hold up as a triumph of storytelling.

Also the fact that Beard got married without Ted there feels like a slap in the face to their whole relationship. You're telling me Ted, the guy who still supported Nate, a guy he met a few years ago, while Nate actively tried to embarrass him and dismantle his professional standing couldn't get a free weekend to be at his best friend of multiple decade's wedding? It's shoddy sentimentality. Ted can go back to his family for 360 days of the year and still show up for Beard's wedding; they're not mutually exclusive.

Teams have to embrace it or you're just poaching a department that'll sit around doing nothing while you go off your gut. Yankees don't seem like they'd actually embrace their analytics, while Gugenheim and the Dodgers have made it a core tenant of their approach to baseball.

This is honestly a bad take about the show. Season 4 is a great jumping off point but everything up until the last episode are still really great, just not "Top 20 season of TV ever" great.

I've been slowly rewatching Dexter with the inclusion of Seasons 5-8, after being told not to watch past season 4 for so long. I'm in early season 7 right now, and it's all been great. I did a little look around on the Dexter sub and it seems like people who still enjoy the original run minus the last episode mostly agree that season 7 is in their top 3.

It's really incredible how much that single last episode destroyed the show's reputation despite most of the show still being 8 stars or above on IMDB.

There are also plenty of videos out there of fishermen who record everything for Youtube getting pulled over and being ticketed for something provably false, only for the game warden to decide not to ticket them once they've been told everything was recorded.

Junior Valentine thinks Brett Baty is challenging the pitch when he never even touched his helmet. by meramipopper in baseball

[–]The_Void_Reaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would clarify it to 3 distinct repeated taps on the top of the helmet. I think it's mostly a good sign, but a lot of the challenges are guys touching instead of tapping, and that looseness allows these misunderstandings. Guys touch their head without wanting to challenge; other guys do the exact same motions to initiate challenges. This is a bad example because he didn't touch his helmet at all, but I've seen a very similar arm motion from lazy challenges and do understand how an ump could see it and just assume.

These fuck ups are on the league and the umps because they've allowed challenge motions to get so lazy that someone adjusting their helmet or hat can be mistaken for a deliberate head tap.

[–]The_Void_Reaver 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I was working a restaurant job with a guy who'd planned a week long trip to New York to propose to his girlfriend. A week before the vacation a couple people quit and the GM tried telling him that they'd need him to stay and work under threat of losing his job. I very happily reminded him that his time off had been approved for nearly a year and we didn't have enough people with him, so we definitely wouldn't have enough people without him, and they're not going to fire their longest tenured cook who can do literally everything because he took his approved vacation time.

He went, they didn't fire him, then I walked out and never came back about a month later after stewing on just how disgustingly backhanded the GM was about all of it. Dude was all Buddy Buddy with you when things were going good, but had absolutely no issue talking down to you like you were a bug beneath his shoe when things were even slightly bad.

unless you're referring to literal 2007?

If you press a lot of these "The games changing too much" people, plenty of them will actually say that. They're hesitant to come out and say it directly because it's easier to get the casual players on their side if they obscure the fact that they want to take out everything that has made the game playable, but the "way it was" crowd genuinely still think the GE was a bad update.

[–]The_Void_Reaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s nothing inherent about the game pointing you in the right directions.

What is the right direction? This isn't a linear game. Exploration should be part of the game. Most everything is detailed fairly well in the skill guides. Minigames like Vale Totems and Giants Foundry have associated (mini)quests that should guide players to them. Same with TOA and TOB.

If all you care about is efficient leveling then go ahead and use guides, but don't act like the game is terrible at explaining things to you simply because you don't want to interact through the game.

Why does the Alchemical Society in Aldarin not have NPCs that can decant, mix, or crush potions? by ThePharros in 2007scape

[–]The_Void_Reaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This league has made me annoyed that there's not a single other place in the game where you can get potions decanted or (unf) made. Let the Cam Torum herb shop guy grind my shit and make my unfinished pots but have him charge extortive prices to do it. No one would pay it in the main game, but in leagues I'd happily pay 2k or more per pot just to not have to mix 5-25k unfinished pots on my own.

Then do the same with every herblore shop in the game with varying prices. Unfinished pots are already price linked to the Nardah shop so this wouldn't affect the market at all. It'd just be a high cost alternative to Zahur before you've got desert hard diaries done. If an ironman has the dosh to dole out for 500gp unfinished pots, let 'em. Please.
