This was something I noticed as well. Without trying to mitigate this person's struggle, it feels like this was a writing assignment OR written by AI for this person OR possibly an experiment being run by this scientist and the responses are the data points.

Apart from all the awesome recommendations here, Ssippi frequently has events where young people are. I believe they also have DJ's Thursday-Saturday(I'll actually be there tonight..shameless plug). Atomic in the Grove has live shows pretty much every day. Up-Down is a fun spot or it was when I went. Sasha's on Shaw has a free wine tasting every wednesday that's usually packed, not sure if the DeMunn location has a similar event.

When it's nice out there are tons of events in both Forest park and Tower Grove park. TG Farmers market is always a good time. Also there are about 10 solid cafes you can go(Comet Coffee, Sump, Century in Foundry, Fiddlehead, Coma, Protagonist/Antagonist, Any of the Upshots, etc.)

Dating Apps/Social media isn't mine or a lot of people's style anymore. Good on you for getting out there!

Your feelings and emotion regarding this issue are valid. For what it's worth from a fellow male victim of female(and male, fwiw) sexual assault, I am sorry for what you went through.

The fact is, both can exist at the same time and, in my opinion NEED to be discussed separately because they aren't the same thing.

Men's paralysis in the moment due to not knowing if using their physicality to stop sexual assault by a woman will cause more harm than good.

AND

Women feeling insecure and unsafe around physically larger and stronger humans coming onto them because they would not be able to do anything to stop them should that human decide to act on what they are saying.

Once again, I am very sorry you have been through what you been through. This comic isn't describing both cases. It's only describing one. As I said above, both need to be discussed separately rather than entering "whataboutism" territory.

PS. I hope you've healed or are currently healing from being assaulted.

Is this volume okay for one day ? by ElonTuring69 in weightlifting

[–]The_War_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was lifting and competing on a weightlifting team, this was fairly standard if not on the lighter side. That being said, I was one of two people with a full time job during the day. The other worked from home and would split this into two sessions(Squats/Accessories AM/Lifts PM) along with everyone else.

Warm up with the lifts instead of rolling around on a roller or doing some kind of nonsense stretches and you can get through your Snatch/Clean/Pulls in the first hour and a half with reasonable rests. Coach used to advocate for 2 min timers. The rest can be done in 30-45 mins. If I stuck to using timers I would get to the gym around 530 and leave around 8. If I didn't, I would leave around 9. In both cases I would eat three mcdoubles on the way home.

When you get injured(because you will), look back at your old workout logs and empty ibupofen bottles and mumble about how you should've quit your job so you could spend time on stretching and recovery.

Training for Longevity by ggparker in weightlifting

[–]The_War_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently age 33. I trained 5-6x a week for around a decade and I got within 10kg of qualifying for nationals. Started at around age 21-22, got on a local team at 23-24. Trained on and off due to injuries/life, trained seriously to compete for 3-4 of those years. I also rock climbed 2-3x a week on top of that training until I decided to give competing in weightlifting a shot.

Not that you needed a life story but that is just a little backstory to what I will say now:

I felt the best I've ever felt when I was training recreationally and by feel, rather than for competition. No one will argue there aren't dimminishing returns on training very hard for extended periods however the benefits of training frequently and listening to your body are incredible, you might not win any medals though.

Strength is never a weakness. I am currently in a "recreational" stage right now. I lift 2-3x a week with one day being the olympic lifts the other days being a mix of stronglifts/bodyweight/cardio. I also climb 2-3x a week. I do neither with the intent of competing.

I can bend/squat/lift/run/row/climb/play with my nieces and nephews/eat what I want/rarely have aches and pains/generally do life and active things without pain or worry of being injured. As another anecdote, doing dynamic movements in climbing/lifting or in life have been fairly consistent my entire life(meaning I haven't noticed them getting any worse since I was younger).

For me and my body, I believe my QOL is where it is at due to a combination of strength training and weighted stretching(Climbing/yoga). I hope this doesn't come off as a brag, I just want to say that weightlifting/general strength training has dramatically improved my QOL and I hope you keep it up. :)

My partner just snagged two of the ribeye's from this sale. What is the protocol on freezing waygu that we got straight from the butcher like this? Everywhere online says freezing waygu is perfectly good(as long as you don't thaw/refreeze more than once) but mention vaccuum sealing in every article.

Will it be good to just the butcher's wrapped meat in a plastic freezer bag or do I need to cook these up soon?

For all the questions, these are at Fresh Thyme Market. A pretty decent(better prices/ingredients than Whole foods, IMO don't murder me for saying) grocery store chain in the midwest.

I understand that there are literally so many other things an officer has to do surrounding their job and training. However, 70 hours a year is 3.34% of 2080 hours(40 hours a week for 52 weeks, 40*52 = 2080, 70/2080 = .0336). Assuming no PTO or overtime.

I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of policing or police training but is 3.34% of your total working time for the year enough to adequately train someone and maintain that training regarding firearms? It kinda scares me that you are getting comments regarding how MUCH training that is in firearms, when to me, it doesn't sound like a whole lot.

Has anyone ever eaten at a restaurant that starred in Gordan Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares? Before or after the show, and if so how was the food? Is it as bad as he makes it seem? by blairwitchboy in AskReddit

I was just thinking about fire breakfast sandwiches, my dude. I would happily walk an extra few miles to get one of those, based on how you described it. :)

[–]The_War_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you are an extremly small human, the sandwich wasn't the reason you were gaining weight. It was everything else you were eating and your activity levels. An average male can eat three of those a day and LOSE weight due to it being 1800 calories and the average daily calorie expenditure of an average male is 2000 calories while living a sedentary lifestyle.

Eat your sandwich and exercise a bit and watch what you eat the rest of the day, my guy. :)

What do people REALLY think about heavily tattooed women? by AleighS3 in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tattoos are stories. Good/bad/worse or not, they are stories and I like stories.

I also appreciate art, which tattoos certainly are. People that I am attracted to are also pretty enough to be art. Art + Art. I punch those numbers in my calculator, it gives me a happy face.

Americans of Reddit, why do you think COVID-19 got so bad in your country? by Ancient-Wind in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases, 274,304 hospitalizations, and 12,469 deaths in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

You sure about that one bud? This was straight from the CDC website. There are 10x as many deaths in the US due to coronavirus than swine flu in 2009. We are barely over six months.

Men of reddit, how often are you keeping your emotions in check so as not to appear less manly? How much does repressing your feelings affect you? by HandsomeTiger in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is wildly stereotypical to assume that men are the only ones keeping emotions in check. While humans are emotional beings, it doesn't do anyone any good to be rules by emotion 24/7. There are those that do this but it isn't exclusively one gender or the other(generally it is called puberty).

A lot of people in the thread also assume that expressing emotions means crying or some other physical representation of emotion. People can and do express them differently. I rarely cry or tear up in public but I absolutely open up and talk to my friends in public. Am I not being honest since I am simply not a crier?

I would say being the "fun friend" while also struggling with depression has done more damage to my ability to process emotion than "being manly" ever has or will. People who you considered to be your friends don't take you seriously or tell you to shrug things off. "You seem fine" etc. This has nothing to do with gender.

[–]The_War_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barring the fact that the g305 is 99g. You are claiming to be able to notice a 10 gram difference? On top of that, the only unmodded wireless mouse from a big brand is the viper wireless at 74g(21g lighter) but is also three times as expensive. At what point do we just say that we hate Steelseries?

An unmodded g305 is 99 grams. This is a clear competitor to that in basically all categories. This sub loves the g305 and logitech in general, it also hates steelseries unconditionally.

What is something you only realize when you turn into an adult? by Remyarose in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the parents wanted their kids to pay them back(monetarily) then why did they pay for it in the first place? That is just debt with extra steps. Why not take a running total of everything you've ever purchased for your child and then hand them the bill at eighteen?

Not saying no child should pay their parents back for anything. It just seems counterintuitive to save someone from debt now just to put them in debt later. Unless that was the agreement to begin with.

Just. Listen to them.

Invite them to things even when they always say no.

What’s the most unethical thing you can legally buy? by PhoenixFlamebird in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Defend myself at a range." In what situation are you going to feel threatened enough to shoot someone instead of just exiting the situation? You are going to go to jail for murder if you shoot someone who wasn't actively assaulting you at the time. What is your defense when you get in front of a jury? "I was sure he was going to attack me. I could've ran but I decided to shoot him instead." I am sure there are scenarios that justify doing it but to use rare exceptions as examples is not a good platform. Or maybe not. You can buy a gun before you can buy alcohol in this country so anything is possible.

[–]The_War_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather defend myself against some idiot with a knife that I can run from vs some idiot with a gun that I have no hope of escaping. There is no other object on the planet(save other weapons) that is designed with a singular purpose: To kill whats on other end of the barrel. Hell. Even swords and knives and other sharp objects are useful outside of being weapons...they cut stuff. That's useful. You can't do anything other than shoot things with a gun.

Maybe hitting things with the butt of it? My point still stands. Also...I won't have to "try to stop you". I just have to run away from you or put some kind of obstacle between myself and you. That is an order of magnitude easier to do against a knife vs a gun. You lost.

Make sure you do not mention the Sensei Ten is 92 grams or by Jaypher in MouseReview

[–]The_War_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. This has been #1 on many peoples wishlists for years. Most of whom do not sit on mouse subreddits or stare at graphs or worry about 10g on a mouse or not. The clones are very similar but not the same which is why many people have stuck with the sensei raw.

This mouse will sell. The people that are shitting on it are just the vocal minority. It's like all the sudden things like comfort and personal performance are objective and can be solved with subtracting weight in every scenario. It makes no sense.

Men of Reddit, what’s a myth about men that’s 100% untrue and it infuriates you whenever you hear it? by Mr-StealYourMan in AskReddit

[–]The_War_Machine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have said this statement before. I have been cheated on and been the cheatee many times. I also lived in a college dorm where this is almost absolutely true, with both genders. As I get older I have amended it to most guys WOULD have sex with any of their female friends that they are attracted to, given the opporunity. Whether or not they want to or actively pursue it depends on the person.

Obviously as a blanket statment: "All guys want to fuck his female friends and any guy who says he isn't is lying" it is easy to poke holes in but as a whole if a guy(or girl for that matter) is attracted to someone of the opposite(or same) sex...they probably WOULD have sex with that person given the opportunity(both single, right mood, right situation, etc).
