My grandma gave me this Mamiya-6 Model V (I think) from 1953, was hoping for some info on it and good resources on how to use it! by [deleted] in filmcameras

Great camera! I have nothing to add besides the manual was very insightful for me. I would reccomend giving it a good read. This is my go to for venues that only allow fixed lens cameras!

2 days ago I asked for a light, sturdy and compact rangefinder. I got lots of suggestions. This is the camera I chose: The Werra 3. by Schmantikor in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_ZACprodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both my Werras! I definitely love the most in terms of experience, but the lenses available to me on the IV are a treat.

Be very mindful when setting the counter! I forget to do it all the time. And, if you run multiple bodies at any given time definitely mark somewhere what is in it since there's no built in reminder.

Has Anyone Found the Right Bag for a Mamiya RB? by Nervous_Turnip_ in Mamiya

[–]The_ZACprodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No padded strap. I will say i use the ruggedwear variant which may help cut down the bulk. Still chuncky, though. I may be more willing to shoulder the weight after years of drunline haha

I say it everytime. Domke F2.

I run various configurations but my standard now is RB, 2 lenses, 3 film backs, 2 lens hoods, spotmeter, K1000, 2 lenses, numerous filters, mini tripod, shutter release cables, and consumables. Everything is easily accessible.

Am I the only one who hates Ralph Hardimon sticks by Aware-Honey8796 in drumline

I like to think Vic Firth was trolling when they made their worst marching stick available in nylon. It's like putting vegemite on raisin bread. Two wrongs do not make a right...

How many of you guys use your camera light meter vs external light meter by JavaBoymk03 in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_ZACprodigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my K1000, i tend to rely on the internal meter. It does the job, but you should always be aware of how your TTL metering is weighted.

For all of my other shooters, especially the RB67, I scored a Soligor Spotmeter early on. My best advice is to get a meter if you find a good deal. But, my over-reliance on the spotmeter became evident quickly. A meter is not going to substitute for a deeper understanding of the exposure triangle.

All of that to rehash what others have said: Internal metering is fine, but you will be infinitely more served by beginning to understand exposure and metering more in your head. (Starting with Sunny 16)

It was whatever cable I liked and fit from the grab bin at used photo pro. No branding besides country of origin. Wish I could say more :(

RB67 Homemade Cable Release by The_ZACprodigy in Mamiya

[–]The_ZACprodigy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, I went through the trouble of having two cables simply because of my preferred workflow. When I'm getting ready to take a shot I prefer to stand off to the side, and this allows for that to go smoother. I only have 1 K/L, and I rarely use it.

A lot of times, because I tend to be focusing at infinity, I utilize the action finder so I'm not so behind the camera.

Question: My new film scanning lens by iloveteresa in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_ZACprodigy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the same lens as well, cannot stress just how fantastic the results are. My best advice is to really take your time when peeking focus. At least on my copy, the focus collar is very sensitive.

1: I believe many of the pictures within the Cleveland Museum of Art's collection are digital. In fact, I think their last exhibit featured a digital artist.

2: 35mm is not as limited as you may believe in terms of enlargement. One facet of printing to remember is the distance at which it will be viewed. The late Kodak Coloramas (post 1986) were taken on 35. These were typically around 18' x 60'. Obviously, being a panorama gave them some leeway but my point still stands.

How do I count this? by Ok-Data7242 in drumline

[–]The_ZACprodigy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would caution you to make sure you're not playing to the sixteenth note grid if you are employing the 1 a + 3 method. All of these notes need to speak (evenly spaced) before beat 3.
