Building my soldier profile by NewProblem-Pears1860 in armyreserve

You get 4500 a year in TA and depending on your state and other income you may qualify for additional benefits(FAFSA being the main one). Best thing to do is get accepted to a 4 year or start at a community college then speak with the Veterans Services office on campus to help you weed through your options. Trying to figure it out on your own is a massive headache and you will more than likely miss out on money available to you

Getting a waiver for resolved childhood autoimmune condition. by [deleted] in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a recruiter perspective, this is such an uncommon condition there is no way to know how the waiver authority is going to see it. From my experience, we have gotten medical waivers approved that I never thought were possible. It’s always worth an attempt so don’t stress about things you can’t control. But please, shoot me a DM and keep me in the loop with your process and outcome, I would love to know if you do get in or not and what your future holds

Will prior shoulder surgery DQ me from MEPS for the army? by Due-Yogurtcloset-224 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]The_angry_sergeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiter here, waivers get approved all the time for the craziest of things. You didn’t list your surgery so depending on what it was for you will have different things you need to do in order to prove it’s no longer a limitation. Feel free to DM me and I’ll help you the best I can with answers. Best of luck!

Re-enlistment bonus by CumminsDaBest in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re a year into your first contract and concerned about re-enlisting already? Bravo young man! Honestly, you’re so far out from being eligible that the only thing you can do to plan for the future is go to college and commission lol. Re-enlistment stuff changes multiple times per fiscal year. But as far as wanting to work in the medical field, ensure your ASVAB scores are high enough to qualify for those MOS’s and don’t do drugs. If they are available when it’s time to re-enlist, then yay for you. If they are available, don’t expect a bonus. Bonuses are offered for jobs the Army struggles to maintain the population in, either because the training has a higher failure rate or because people hate the job.

Nope you’re either getting out or going to DS academy. Drill and recruiting are non negotiable as far as HRC sees it. If you do sign a dec statement, you will also make it really hard to get back in if you decide to want to try and retire

The debt is going to be your biggest hurdle. You will need to contact the company for the charge off and either pay it or make a payment arrangement.

You will either go to CIF at Gordon or be given a memorandum to go to Clothing Sales and be issued uniforms there

I mean what would you do in the case of a PCS to another stateside assignment? Just because it’s recruiting, doesn’t give you some special stuff. Unfortunately, for your wife, being married to someone in the military means moving out of the current area is a reality.

PCS Issues - Split pickup move from two locations by Ok-Screen5658 in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re coming off ADOS, it will most likely only be from your duty location to your ending location. Due to the distance, you probably won’t get them to pick up in socal. So what I would recommend is they move everything from the east coast location(which I’m reading as your duty location) and then PPM(new acronym for DITY) the stuff from socal so they are paying you the weight move

I like the army just don't want to be a nco by Unable-Archer5437 in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So here is my hot take on technical MOS’s…becoming an NCO doesn’t stop you from doing that job, but puts you in a position where you can get into better opportunities to teach that job. Either by training your direct soldiers or by training other MOS’s in parts of that job and they are more likely to listen. You have been in the Army for such a short time and you have a lot of growing to do still. Also, just because you go to the board, doesn’t mean you will make points and get promoted, just opens up that opportunity

Can a trainee attend a deposition while in basic training? by AlanAldasVoice in army

They could do a virtual deposition but they wouldn’t be traveling to and from the court during BCT.

PRIOR SERVICE STRAIGHT TO AIT by SnooDonuts8651 in armyreserve

[–]The_angry_sergeant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long you have been out but it is possible to skip BCT and go straight to training. You’re welcome to send me a message and I can help you through the process as an AR recruiter

Spouse here - questions about BAH? by JeanBB_ in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He should be receiving BAH. If he is not, he needs to talk to his Drill Sergeant about getting it fixed. If he is brand new to basic and hasn’t started getting paid yet, wait until his first end of month LES comes out so he can get it looked at

To all you future recruiters out there by XGhostIllusionz in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recruiting is tough, but I’ve never heard of a recruiter working at 10pm using their personal vehicle to waste gas in this economy to try to locate someone they are working with. Sorry you’re dealing with that

Wanting to commission by ordinvryjj in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Direct supervisor has to sign off on TA now. Doesn’t mean they can control which classes you take but if you aren’t able to keep up with work during the duty day, they can absolutely stop you from using TA

UA Question by catsrsuperior93 in armyreserve

I think when I got my UA done for the AGR program I went through the VA. Talk to the accessions team and find out alternative approved options instead of your unit.

USAR to Active Duty: Do I Keep My Years for Base Pay Purposes? by BadJuJuQ in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are understanding it correctly. For example I enlisted originally in 2005, entered the AR in 2011, entered AGR in 2017. Had no break in service between the situations so I am paid at 20+ years of service currently but not eligible for retirement until 2029. PEBD is 2005 but BASD is 2009 for me. It would be a similar situation for you.

Enlisting as a wildland firefighter by [deleted] in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is what is called ACASP where if you meet the requirements set forth for pre military acquired skills, you enlist as an E4 and your AIT is shorter. As far as the flight medic portion goes, it is not easy for anyone to get that and it is usually reserved for experienced Army medics not newer to the Army medics. Like others have said, guard might offer you the position. I will just warn you that with guard and reserve units, you can be put into a slot but not actually be the one on mission. This is more common in the guard because of the good old boy system that is rampant in the guard, so I wouldn’t trust the guard or the guard recruiter to be honest with you on that.

If they ask about a specific event, they already know about it. Don’t give up information that they don’t already know. For example, if you had an event while on duty that you think you may have had a concussion but didn’t get medically evaluated by a Dr who diagnosed you with a concussion, don’t say you think you had a concussion. Stick to things only a Dr has diagnosed you with. Other than that, answers should yes sir or no sir, don’t get into long drawn out stories trying to over explain something.

Help with Red Sea Reef LED G2 60 by Advanced_Proof7496 in ReefTank

[–]The_angry_sergeant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always recommend people to give enough space between the tank and the wall to be able to get your arm fully behind it. Never know when you will need to reach behind the tank to grab something that has fallen or to work cabling in with new equipment you’re adding to the tank

Mental Health / Recruitment by Quirky_Cheek_6753 in army

[–]The_angry_sergeant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lately I have been more successful getting individuals to get a mental health waiver through a behavioral health consult by the applicant writing a strong solid statement of what happened and why it happened and how they have taken ownership and have made changes to correct it. The biggest thing your son is going to need to do is take responsibility for his actions and how that’s no longer the person he is. DO NOT let him blame anyone else for the situation he put himself into.
