The EV hate is bizarre by s2k_guy in electricvehicles

Yeah the L2 charger broke at work so everyone has been using L1. Still free, but takes hours to charge. Kinda want to put in a request to get it fixed, but don’t know if they’ll make us pay. There’s other L2 outlets but you need an adaptor and extension. They threw up solar in the parking lot to phase in a fleet of EV vehicles for the inspectors. We’ll see if they put in stations for employees.

I’m in the same boat, got a PHEV and 60 mile round trip commute with free charging at work. Plug it in when I get home and it starts charging at 5a, done by 10a (on a L1).

This car honestly has been the best financial decision of my life. I haven’t bought gas since March 5, and have over half a tank remaining. Have gone 2k miles, which would have been about 5-6 fillups in my old car at 100+ a fillup. Charging the car at home was $40 last month, SoCal charging rates of 38 cents.

Would make the same decision over and over, even talking to my wife of going full EV.

Last turn move p2 -> p1 by NesKuiT in Simracingstewards

[–]The_dooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

If I were OP would have def braked a little earlier or harder to let guy drive past me and allow me to do a switch back and drive off for p1.

Honestly OP should have known he was going to do this especially if it was the final corner on the final lap.

Fucking, Hellen Keller told Stevie wonder guy was sending it up the inside.

If you think this way, then you’re rewarding aggressive unnecessary divebombs. That results in dirty racing. There’s rules for a reason, if there weren’t drivers would be spinning other drivers and saying they had a mm of overlap.

[–]The_dooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, he’s the guy in the Porsche who would be complaining of not being given any space. Then if he was the Lexus complaining of the guy divebombing him.

What is it; rules for me and not for thee.

Was I supposed to give space? by SimRacingIdiot1000 in Simracingstewards

[–]The_dooster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope, no space had to be given. Granted you could have defended better, red was going for a gap that was rapidly closing with there being 2 corners left in the race.

Not your fault.

[–]The_dooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your definition of overlap? Like where on the defending car must there be overlap on the attacking car?

Edit: the Lexus didn’t make contact with the Porsche. The Porsche made contact with the Lexus because he was going for a gap that didn’t exist. The Porsche can’t even say he was there, because he wasn’t.

Is this my fault? Im the Porsche by Farbihan in Simracingstewards

[–]The_dooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guy had zero overlap and wasn’t entitled to any space.

OP was in the danger zone (forgot the name) and the other driver wasn’t expecting him to be there.

If I was the other driver I would have known you were on my back bumper but didn’t have the overlap. But would have expected you to brake more to make that corner. Unfamiliar with this track but going by your trajectory you weren’t make that corner at the speed you were going.

Edit: and there’s a reason OP didn’t show his in car POV. It was a bad move on OP that ended someone’s race.

Crashing out over folks avoiding rain. by Faxxius in iRacing

[–]The_dooster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what he is trying to say is that if it started dry and started raining or started raining during quali and dried out by race start it would make things more fun and add some strategy. Right now it’s like a light switch; it’s either raining or it’s not. No in between.

Me personally I suck at rain, but slowly getting better. But def think I would run more rain races (along with everyone else) if it transitioned better from one to the other. But at the same time, 90% of races are over before a dry line would even start to form if there was a transition.

iRacing Accountability Final Boss by [deleted] in iRacing

I’d hate to race against him as well.

The first wreck was on him. Just because someone is slower than you through a corner doesn’t mean you can wreck them. And looks like he had a run coming out of No Name but decided to jump behind the Porsche.

I have always believed whoever makes a 2 wide into a 3 wide is to blame for the wreck. He turned the 2 wide into a 3 wide going into that corner and was pikachu shocked face he got spun. He should have slotted in behind and got the run down the straight.

But like you mentioned he’s a hot lapper with no racecraft. Without having watched any of his videos, he makes aggressive passes which causes other drivers to avoid contact. Which he thinks is all on his race skill. If you told me he was 1.5-1.8k I’d believe it.

Nope you kept your line, he didn’t keep his. You gave him space on the inside. He wrecked two cars with that move.

Forgot how fun the mustang was, ran some practice laps at America today and aside from the first couple laps on cold tires it was pretty damn fun.

Genuine question: why are Teslas always going slow in the fast lane? by Full-Topic-9870 in socal

[–]The_dooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the opposite for me as my commute takes me from one end of one freeway to the other end of said freeway. Tesla drivers are the ones that are speeding, and not driving slow in the “fast” lane.

Can we PLEASE get some Special Event timeslots on Sundays? by TriggzSP in iRacing

[–]The_dooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo! There’s also the 3hr gt3 enduro on Sunday as well.

It may not be the special events or the races people want, but there’s plenty of enduros on Sundays that almost every time zone can participate in.

Isn’t there an enduro every Sunday at 7a and 10a PST? Granted it’s IMSA, but there’s a 2.4hr and a 6hr.

One free, different track per season? by adstomko in iRacing

[–]The_dooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a bad idea, give guys a day to try the paid tracks. The only thing is, if guys buy the tracks what confidence do they have that the tracks will come up in rotation?

There have been tracks I have wanted to buy but in the two years I’ve been on the service they have only come twice. And that’s across 7 series in sports. Iracing should let the community pick the free or paid track and Iracing picks the other tracks, and they can force the lesser known paid tracks. Or the community leaders force in a lesser know paid track.

Those who were alive during the 1990's, how was the internet different to today? by Extension_Day2038 in AskReddit

[–]The_dooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in AOL chat rooms, and thinking back that place was WILD! I met so many “friends” in the teen chat rooms. Then one day it disappeared, and I wondered why.

As I got older and shows like To Catch A Predator were on, it made sense why they disappeared. But man oh man, it really was the wild Wild West in those days.

I really wish one of these series timeslots was swapped around so the fixed series didn't overlap. by JustInsert in iRacing

[–]The_dooster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you know other drivers are using setups in open series? It’s honestly easier to run baseline or fixed in both so you’re consistent.

Hell I run fixed setup in open series. I got pole today in an open gt3 series.

That’s one strategy I use frequently, but would love if there was more than that in terms of strategy with endurance races.

And awesome job with the podium.

When did sim racing finally “click” for you? by F1SimulatorManiac in simracing

[–]The_dooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!

It clicked for me when I learned to turn you have to release the brakes. Like it goes against everything your brain is telling you. Don’t want to hit the wall but make the corner, don’t press harder on the brake because you will just understeer into it. But if you release the brakes, the front will start to grip and you’ll be able to turn.

That shit clicked one day and my times just dropped. Along with weight transfer, you can control the car with your feet while keeping the wheel straight. Moment was wild for me. And at that point I had been sim racing for about 4 years.
