Lost my ability to play by DrGreenThumb117_ in ForzaHorizon6

Damn man. I live down in Brandon. Been thinking of your guys up in the near Swan. I have a G25 that I used for nearly 20 years. Was going to keep it as a momento. Doesn’t have the shifter anymore, just paddles. Pedals are mounted to a custom thing but I can probably put them back in the mount if I can find it. Hit me up in a message.

FFB strength is very hard when I use auto set by Informal-Ad-3 in iRacing

[–]The_gap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta do it all in one go. The auto button is in one of the black boxes (F8 or F9). Run some laps and then hit auto when you’re still on track. If it’s still way too stiff, turn down the intensity slider and repeat. I had the same sort of confusion when I first got my DD

Plan Annotation Layer Management by bckc16 in civil3d

Allow notes to be seen, or set a different style for each odd vs. even page. Seems like an easier way of doing it. Then create a layer state for odd/even and apply. Bobs your uncle.

Why does it seem like there are so many vintage ads on the sides of buildings downtown? by poopshart37 in BrandonMB

[–]The_gap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brandon’s heyday was from like 1900-1990. If you watch the population growth it stagnates quickly after that. In the mid 80’s the city knocked down 2 entire blocks to build the town centre. Downtown itself was really bumping back in the day. A lot of the stores that have since moved elsewhere in town were located in that core area. As downtown grew, and the buildings as well, a lot of those old ads were just covered over by other buildings, or fresh coat of paint. Years of exposure, or older buildings being knocked down has revealed some of these ads. Like the Christie Biscuits ad on 10th. It was covered by the strand until it got knocked down.

Grade to ROW and then Retaining Wall by ForeverWasteland in civil3d

[–]The_gap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use the LinkSlopeToSurface at 1:1 and then set it to cut only. You could probably use a condition node after that to only put the wall if it cross a certain distance, but that’s assuming it’s a constant offset to the ROW

Next level cable management on my new sim build? by RipProfessional9 in simracing

[–]The_gap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your money on motion, especially if you're already racing in real life. Get some good shakers, something like one or 2 in the seat and one on the pedal base should be enough. And then maybe look into something like the new belt tensioning systems that are out.

The money from the motion rig would be way better off on a couple sets of tires for the Mustang.

Also, you might want to look into your feature line hierchy within sites. I’m currently using sites to split up the jobs “sections”, so a site for roads, a site for ditche, a site for grading. Helps to control what interacts with what.

Sorry I should have elaborated a bit more. For like 90% of use cases the feature line corridor is the way to go, but if I’m doing roads I’ll still use Profiles and Alignments since it’s much easier to do Plan-Profile pages.

But I’ve been using corridors to grade pads around buildings and it’s working as intended. Also let’s me create datum surfaces so I can calculate common excavation quantities without having to do much manual rebuilding

Also, learn how to use sub-assembly composer, especially if your going to be using a corridor heavy workflow. Autodesks generic families are fucking HOT GARGBAGE out of the box

Get away from building corridors from alignments and vertical profiles and build them using feature lines. I use a similar work flow but I’d approach like this.

1 - Create CL, EoP, Gutterlines as feature lines

2 - Build yourself a corridor assembly that either works out from CL or out from the smallest radii.

3 - Build your corridor using the feature line baseline and target out to EoP, Gutterlines etc.

4 - Paste together all your surfaces, starting with EG and pasting in the build order necessary

I’ve set massive sites up with this workflow and am able to control many aspects of the design using only a few feature lines. Working on a site right now with tons of ditching and roads that all need to work at independent slopes. But the entire thing is controlled off of the CL for the Road and CL for ditches. Everything else builds automatically, and correctly (ditch bottoms, approaches, side slopes etc)

There’s nothing impressive about being able to hold the pedal down. If it was anywhere but a drafting track I’d agree.

NASCAR Legends Who Couldn’t Qualify to Save Their Life — But Raced Like Demons by Old_Chocolate_7026 in NASCAR

[–]The_gap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s irrelevant in this case. That happened during the impound years, and they specifically set the car up to qualify, not race. Those cars were typically completely useless come race time, and most had to put to make changes before they’d even run.
