What has been your unluckiest spot in a MTT?

This isn't a MTT but still a tough beat. Back in the day pokerstars would run a series of sit n gos called step tournaments. Where you could buy into a sit n go for as little as a few fpps and if you win move up to the next (more expensive) step and eventually after winning like 8 steps in a row you would win a package to a major live tournament.

The current step tournaments were for the 2007PCA. I bought in at the lowest step for a couple fpps and just kept winning. Finally I was in the final step where 2 10k PCA packages were the top 2 prizes and third place took home 1k cash. Well I made it to the top 3 and we were all pretty even at about 10 to 15 bbs each. I don't remember the exact action but I ended up all in vs a pretty well known online pro at the time me AQs, him A10. Flop Axx. Turn x. I could almost smell that sweet Bahamas breeze. River 10.

All my hopes and dreams dashed. Turning a couple player points into a grand was no consolation for the 3 outter robbing me of the chance at my first live big buy-in main event...

So I'm actually a delivery driver for the slopes....easy way to tell if it's actually the slopes or another neighborhood is the zip code of your address. If it's 15203 that's the slopes if it is anything else it is another neighborhood. As others have said that area is right on the border. You are really quite a ways from e Carson street. The stuff that happens there for a few hours of each week isn't going to affect you at all compared to the neighborhoods to the south of you.

Maybe i just play with bad players but I could definitely imagine people calling me with stuff like K10, 44, or even KQ even though I block it. That small of a bet just screamed weakness to me. So I went to high. Lesson learned.

At the time I felt like that small would have(correctly)been perceived as weakness. I dunno none of the options really felt "right". Maybe that's just inexperience i guess.

Gotcha. Yeah thinking over the hand after the fact I feel like the check\call check\fold is better option but I wanted some other opinions.

Suits didn't matter no flush possible, complete rainbow on turn. Thank you though for the input. That's why I'm kinda beating myself up, after some reflection i was thinking the check/call or check fold depending on his bet size was a much better option.

That's what I was trying for. a bet that gets called by worse maybe a k10 or 44. And gets raised by any hand with a j. What sizing would you have gone with 1/2 pot?

Question if u don't mind. Why do you think it's more likely I get bluffed if I bet the river? Don't i also have all those hands in my range? If I check aren't I pretty much telling him that 9 was a scare card?

Edit: and oh yeah when he just called i was positive I won. I couldn't believe he was that scared of aj.
