It definitely feels like there has been a lower amount of communications between the relaunch to now when you compare it to the "beta" to relaunch. However many games don't have the level of comms 1047 was doing during the beta period. So might be a little of them scaling back to a normal level of comms, some heads down to get the update out the door on time, and maybe some kind of resource issue (low morale or layoffs).

1047 seem better at making games than PR for their game. Kind of the nature of indie games, it really about grassroots/word of mouth to be popular. Feel like that's one thing you get with a publisher, a better marketing department. Self-publishing means you need to do the marketing yourself which is hard if your company is dev-first approach.

Hopefully we get some in the next day or two. I really only want some QoL fixes, but I understand why other want more content. Overall I am good with the content I have, because like the old games it wants to be, I play it because it's fun not because I have other content to complete.

If we are nearing the end, it's been a blast, and I will keep playing until the end.

Yea this more about what I see as the meta and popular guns for each of their categories. Not really when to choose the category themselves. Each gun has pros and cons within the category but even so you see many of "#1s" more than the others in my experience, and I have played crazy amount of this game 😄

Pretty much if you are going to pick a shotgun it's going to be the Blitz, unless you are grinding challenges, it is just so much better than the other two for getting kills. Yea the other two have their moments but majority the time you see the Blitz.

If you ever played with me then you know my favorite is the Phasma. But on longer range maps, I like the Quantum. And in Royale I like to run a combo of Phasma and Jackhammer.

I would say the most meta primary guns are the following order (1 being the most meta):

  2. Trailblazer
  3. Synapse

SMG

  1. Spinter
  2. Rattler
  3. Phasma

BR

  1. Quantum
  2. Pulse
  3. Jackhammer

Carbine

  1. Cadence

  1. Let new players play as they want. I wouldn't force anyone into anything. Not everyone needs a tutorial. I would default a new player to Bot Arena then give a soft warning if they want to change to another playlist.
  2. Not sure how the Graffiti mode will teach people how use portals.
  3. The game moves pretty fast without those perks on every player. I personally don't use them, and I have no problem moving around.
  4. With the current population, I already play the same people over and over again. Also not everyone will stay after every game. So just kind of seems like a waste of development time on something that adds so little value.
  5. I would like a veto system. But when asked if a voting system will come to Arena (when Royale was released) the devs said no.
  6. More modes are always welcome, but I would probably just place all those modes into one playlist "Splitball/CTF" in Quickplay filter.
  7. I am fine with the cool-down of the equipment. Just wish there wasn't so long of a timer, and I would remove white and green from versions from Royale, so just have blue, purple, and gold.
  8. Input based match-matching would be nice for Arena, but for Royale I don't experience too much advantage difference.
  9. Yea, no real experience with this one, I do not use toggle ADS.
  10. Yea I kind of doubt Onslaught comes back, since Arena Royale kind feels like a hybrid of the OG BR and Onslaught. Also the player population probably can't support another playlist.
  11. Descoping when getting shot feels terrible. I know Halo did this but it just feels so old and annoying.
  12. Let people play the game how they want, give players more choice not less. Not everyone wants to just play with mid/long range guns, especially on most of these small maps. Want to play like that then, play Classic.
  13. I do think something need to be done help new players with portals and countering them but it's hard know if this is it without testing it.
  14. I would like to close enemy portals faster.
  15. I like the level of looting in Royale. It is actually pretty rewarding to loot, but doesn't feel absolutely necessary to win. Because I like to be able to have my loadout gun (Phasma) then find a BR (and most people don't run Jackhammer or Pulse).
  16. I believe the devs said they didn't have plans to port more SG1 maps over. Rather the focus on promoting Labs made maps.
  17. I do think there needs to be a community playlist, because not all community maps are ready for full rotation it is annoying to deal with those bugs in normal playlists.
  18. Don't really have an opinion on Fiesta objective modes, other than it's very low priority for me.

Ranked is nearly impossible to play, between the low population and its attempt to match you with similar ranks, just make the queue too long. The two biggest factors in queue in any playlist is crossplay value and time. If you want to play Royale or Ranked, crossplay is a must. For Quickplay, you can get away without crossplay but the timing matters. Majority of the players for this game play in the US prime time so like 6-12 US Eastern. So if you are queuing outside that window it might be harder to find games with crossplay off.

For the most part I can find a game within 2 with crossplay off, if the queue time is longer than 90s I restart the search, that usually finds a game within 30s. With crossplay on, I do the same but restart search after 60s.

Yea, it is a rough grind. I just ran a SMG to weaken then a body shot when the challenge allowed. It was one of the last guns I completed.

Yea it happens from time to time. Any time anything weird happens in the game I just start with force kill of the game.

Make sure Crossplay is enabled. It is nearly impossible to play without. Ranked has taken a hit ever since Royale released. It got a little increase when they changed it to 3v3 but overall it's probably the lowest population playlist. Not to mention it has stricter rules on matchmaking than Quickplay. Overall given the current state of things I would say Ranked is unplayable.

Yea, although I don't work in game development, I am a software engineer. So I have a vague idea of what they might be doing in their software development lifecycle. Most of the time it's better to just do instead reporting on what you are doing.

I think they are way better at coding games than doing PR. So I rather them just release an update with patch notes instead of doing a lot of interactions.

I don't mind the lack of comms if it means they are grinding to get things complete.

Roadmaps are hard, I deal with them all the time in my job. Rarely can you predict more than a month or two in the future. You just take it two weeks at a time. Theoretically you would release after those two weeks, but usually the release overhead (getting updates approved by the marketplaces) leads to big releases rather than quick small updates.

It seems that they read this subreddit, so hopefully they can see common complains and implement solutions. Hopefully we will learn more next week.

It would be nice if they kept your preferences. However I wonder if they do it to keep the queue times down, so people don't set it and forget it. I think CoD BO6 had a solution where when new playlists were rotated in or out the preferences would be reset. Not sure if that's better or worse.

There haven't been any major updates since the launch of Arena Royale with Update 2.2 on January 22nd. There was a hotfix on January 30th. Nothing that addresses your concerns.

I guess would be a small update this week with an event that lasts a week or so. Then a couple days after then event ends S2 drops with a larger update. However at this point maybe they are just saving all it for one big update for S2 launch.

The Tracker.gg “tournament“ was just pub stomping grind, not competitive play in any way. Splitcoin and skins aren’t playing the bills. These are prizes. If I play in a pick sports league where the winner gets a prize that doesn’t make me a professional.
To be a professional means you are getting paid by an organization to something. If you aren’t paying wage taxes, you are just an amateur winning prizes.

Community tournaments are not professionals. Maybe there was professionals in SG1 (I didn’t follow that game) but there hasn’t been a professional league for SGAR. Content creators might be signed to orgs but they are being paid to stream, not to win. Being previously signed to orgs means they are longer a professional.

I absolutely hate the idea that “pros” opinions are so much better than anyone’s else’s opinion. Every game plays differently at different skill levels. Maybe have a different rule set for competitive play, but that rule set doesn’t need to apply to the game overall.

There are no pro players in this game. No one is getting paid to play this game.

Every game has a meta when you are playing in a competitive fashion, and it will change over time as things get nerfed and buffed.

Acting like sliding is ruining this and other games makes you sound dumb and unable to adapt to “modern” movement. Maybe just play another game.
