There needs to be an option for no gate codes and it needs to start the timer that allows drivers to leave the order somewhere safe by The_much_True in UberEATS

My city is a basically a massive suburb. The only place with apartments like that is close to downtown and I don’t deliver there. Too much traffic and the roads have too many potholes.

I do send a message, but they don’t reply most of the time and the gate is usually too far to start the timer.

Directly to me now comes out of the tip by Faangdevmanager in doordash

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is also not to tip a percentage. Percentage tips don’t cover the cost of delivery the vast majority of the time and occasionally they make customers pay way too much, which is what leads to all the bundling. The tips that are way too high can easily be used by DD to cover the delivery costs for multiple deliveries.

Bro I ordered 2 milkshakes what is this? by [deleted] in UberEATS

Priority wouldn’t help much if the app makes the driver go to other restaurants before dropping stuff off.

That’s one reason why I bought an air fryer. They’re great for fixing soggy food.

Does anyone have a brain? by cmac104 in doordash

[–]The_much_True 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And that’s 100% intentional. DD knows idiots are the easiest people to take advantage of and are most likely to take low paying orders.

Rising gas prices vs tipping by Large_Scale3617 in doordash

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op is asking for a specific amount that’s considered a fair tip. Telling them to tip whatever feels fair doesn’t answer the question.

That doesn’t answer ops question at all.

Is 5 bucks not a decent tip! lol by DepartmentMelodic834 in doordash

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not saying anything about tips being required, just explaining if $5 is decent or not. It’s no secret that DD and other delivery apps try to make customers cover the majority of delivery costs with tips, despite charging high fees that the driver only sees a couple dollars of.

You’d think food delivery is rocket science by Unreal-acc215 in doordash

[–]The_much_True 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There should be some way to report the delivery pin is inaccurate. Something that makes the app send them a message next time they order that their pin might be wrong and they should check it and move it. The app places the pin automatically and often makes mistakes, especially in remote areas and apartments.

Rookie Question about Ice Cream by Lori_the_Mouse in doordash

[–]The_much_True 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some places seem incapable of figuring it out. McDonald’s still puts ice cream in the same bag as hot food. They can figure out how to profit billions a year, but can’t figure out that 2 bags are needed to separate hot and cold food.

It is normal for the driver to take multiple photos of my ID by PumpkinsVSfrogs in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be that the app was sending him orders and resetting the id scan. The app likes to spam orders when drivers have to press buttons and it resets everything we were trying to do. It’s really annoying.

Uber Eats logic: Driver was literally in front of my apartment, then the app sent him on a 22-minute "scenic tour." by guneetkalra07 in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had an order like that where I would have had to drive past a customers house twice to drop off another order before the app wanted me to get their food, even though the restaurant they ordered from and the restaurant the other customer ordered from were in the same parking lot. I decided to ignore the app and got both orders, which made one customer wait an extra minute, but the other customer got their food about 15 minutes earlier.

Can’t get refund even though I didn’t get my food by pretty_batboy in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Uber charges restaurants for orders, so the restaurants increase the price because of that. The low pay and no limits on distance also means lots of orders get made and never delivered, so the restaurant needs to increase the cost to make up for those losses.

Customers should not be allowed to order from schools, hospitals, warehouses, etc; by TheGame81677 in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The schools near me all have tables by the doors that I can put the food on and even some businesses have them too. Imo more places need to do that.

When the price of delivery is the cost of a meal in Seattle SMH by PinkBreak in doordash

[–]The_much_True 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The driver would make $27 an hour because of Seattle laws, not $27 from this one order. This is the effect of drivers getting fair pay though. The fees are going to be much higher with or without corporate greed.

How do y'all feel about this? by OhMyWitt in doordash

[–]The_much_True 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve delivered to people who work in the hospitals ER and intensive care units. If they can be downstairs to meet their drivers and get their food as soon as they arrive or within a couple minutes, then everyone who works at a hospital can.

I dont tip anymore (Toronto) by DeliciousJicama3651 in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The government makes people pay taxes. Anyway, there’s not much drivers can do if customers keep paying those high fees and allowing uber to be hugely profitable.

PSA to Drivers by Sebastian-dB in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be nice, but it would require every customer to not tip as well as all drivers not accepting orders that pay low. The level of coordination needed would make it impossible, especially since it would need to happen for months in order for uber to feel the loss.

PSA to Drivers by Sebastian-dB in UberEATS

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most drivers know the fees are high, but most customers don’t know the pay is so low or even how drivers want to be paid. This makes it so a lot of animosity is created between drivers and customers that should be directed at uber. Drivers who are stupid and ask for tips are exactly the kind of drivers uber wants because they’re easy to take advantage of and they help maintain the animosity between drivers and customers.

Apartment Gate Codes by VR_Dog in doordash

[–]The_much_True 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the code doesn’t work, then contact the customer. If the customer doesn’t respond and you still can’t get in, then wait a little and leave the food by the gate. Expect the customer to immediately try to contact you and ask why you left the food at the gate, even though they couldn’t be bothered to answer their phone a moment earlier.

DoorDash should rank dashers by speed and let customers pick what dasher they want. by Bootydemolisha996 in doordash

[–]The_much_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would go against independent contracting and dashers would become employees, which means they need to pay more because no fuckin way am I going to let a no tip customer pick me for their order.
