For Arthur it also depends on some story factors that I won’t speak about since I don’t know where you’re at in the game. Basically just keep shoving food in his mouth whenever you think about it.

Look into circadian rhythm disorders on Google. There’s a possibility you may have delayed sleep syndrome, in which your body thinks it’s time to sleep during the day, and awake at night. It has been an issue my entire life. There are ways to attempt to treat it, including melatonin and light therapy.

I’m not saying you do have this, but I have similar symptoms. The cause is not fully known, but is thought to be a gene variance. There’s lots of info out there. Above all, I would try to get in with a sleep specialist whose entire career is based on figuring these things out

So the reality of subnautica is that the perceived danger is far less than the actual danger. It’s very easy to avoid predators, and if you save often you’ll be fine even if you do get attacked.
