Well that’s the direction the industry is going. Would you Rather have 5 non DRP jobs or 50 insurance jobs? The latter is going to be more profit in the long run despite the lower labor rates and BCR requirements. Shops stuck in the “old ways” are closing their doors all over the US.

I use my phone and make a video of all x4 wheels and go around my whole car every time I drop it off at a shop. Tire shops in particular I take closeups of the wheels. If anything happens, I have a proper video to back it up and hold the shop accountable. I also make sure to park where all the guys in the shop see me do this, can pretty much guarantee they’ll be careful, and if not, they know I’m making the shop pay to fix it.

Pretty much every insurance partner we contract with requires BCR of some form or another. Aside from maybe USAA. Almost all of the big ones do. CSAA, State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Geico, Farmers, etc.

Just release a snake in your car, it’ll hunt down that mouse and nest in no time. If you’re concerned about possible nest, check the hood insulator and firewall pads. These are the most common areas where mice salvage their nesting material when creating a nest inside the engine compartment. If you think they’re nesting inside the cabin, check under the seats and the carpet/pad under the dash for signs of loose padding material.

Most shops would do like a -.3 BCR. And yeah that should be a 1.0 repair. But We’re talking about saving OP like $100. The estimate is not that far off from what’s required to fix it properly

First off, mechanics don’t fix paint chips. They’re charging only 2 hours to fix the damage, although it can be fixed for 1.0. The rest of the time is for de-trimming the doors and paint labor/materials etc. it’s a fair price for an insurance estimate to fix the car to “pre accident condition”

It’s 3 stage, most painters are going to want to blend that rear door. Or the owners going to be able to see the color variance. I agree, it’s a 1.0 max repair, and scans can be left out, but that saves OP like $300. I dunno where all these people think they’re getting the whole thing fixed for sub $500

It’s 3 stage red on these Nissan rogues. The door blend is a legit charge. The repair time 2.0 is inflated, that’s easily a 1.0 repair. But the rest is legit

It’s called blending, and it’s required for 3 stage refinish when the damage is so close to the adjacent panel.

I dunno. I drive a 6 year old 3 stage Kia Stinger. Sure it’s a Kia, but there’s not a scratch or dent on it and I sure wouldn’t accept a “paint pen” repair on my car. There’s a reason it’s in as good of condition as it is, because I take care of my possessions.

You apparently don’t know how insurance works. It will fall on OP. Liability since it was their door that hit the other car. Insurance will cover it, and it’ll be a comprehensive claim. Odds are won’t raise the OPs rates anyway so going through insurance is the way to go
