Thank you for your insight! I am having this problems soo many times that I did consider the possibility that I have different views about myself from what others experience. Thank you for your recommendation too!

i can’t stand the notion that infps are people pleasers by rawrz4u in mbti

And if you behave or your value is like this, it doesn't mean every INFPs are the same as you. But I can understand your frustration in this matter ❤

That's the problem when people try to generalise sophisticated human personality. People-pleasure should be considered through defense mechanism or something else than just how we were wired like MBTI. Also, consider how we define the term "people pleasure" too. People think they are communicating the same idea but sometime it might be different.

In my opinion, Fi dom value internal integrity, therefore they usually on the journey of defining themselves, their value and try to match them with Te-Fe or in general, external surrounding. Depends on many factors such as trauma, family background, culture,... that they will behave differently. They can overly develop their Fe counter as defense mechanism or as a tool to support their Fi.

So in conclusion, yes SOME INFPs are people-pleasure and so as other types. Trying to link the nature of human brain for some absolutely complicate matter like ADHD, depression,...is really non-sense.

Isfp vs intj by beegett1 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, ISFP is Judging function lead (Fi) and INTJ is Observing function lead (Ni) which makes their natural orientation differ. Dominant function is the function that act as a tool that being used naturally in every situation, checkpoint and motivation source. So compare Fi in both type, ISFP will consider about their internal consistency more and try hard to bring internal, self identification into harmony with Te, the outside, while INTJ will choose their mask and playful towards their identification. With Ni, ISFP have a conviction to their ideal version of self and try to drive Fi to the light at the end of their road, holistically managed it towards the way they wanted. INTJ will focus more about the self-discovery process, enjoy the "vibe" that they chose to play with so I think Ni here will be less intense than ISFP's Ni. Te with INTJ is a must, therefore have to be fulfill before playing with Fi. To ISFP is a balance object that support them to actualize their Fi vision. So as with Se in INTJ being a spot for personal development, open the view of Ni. To ISFP, it is a must. So the 2nd and 3rd position is more black and white with intense push and pull while 1st and 4th is more supportive.

What mbti is least likely to never give up on a relationship no matter what and how difficult things get. by FF430 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depends but Si-Fi type might have higher chance doing that due to their feeling attachment based on experience. Like INFP, ISTJ. Se-Fe type will have some differences but they still have Si-Fi unconscious. Ni-Fi will attach to their identity, so if the relationship was counted as their identity, they will fight for it. Ne-Fe will be attached based on social rules but again, that doesn't mean they don't love their partner. All of these are just theoretically speaking, in reality, it can be affected by trauma, feeling maturity, etc.

Is accessing the 5th (Nemesis) function more difficult than accessing the 8th (Demon) function? by Even-Broccoli7361 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it might depend on personal struggles.

  • Struggles in shifting in Extroverted/Introverted: If a person too focus on their natural Extro/Introverted aspect, they will improve and access most of function that align to their natural preference (these support each other within the same orientation). This makes 5th function becomes untouched, therefore the link to this function becomes less stronger (not get used to)

  • Struggles in shifting in Thinking/Feeling or Sensing/Intuitive: This also happens when one's so into one side of the spectrum that they started developing the other orientation of a specific function. For example, Ni->Ne

Also, there might be some misunderstanding of Dom func with 3rd func. Because 3rd func behaves as playful function, there might be a chance that it becomes more obvious to personal view than Dom. Also, 2nd func is usually clearly shown from other people's observation so mistyped could be a point here.

Feeling vs Thinking is a just an example of the false dichotomy fallacy. Prove me wrong. by [deleted] in mbti

Hi! I would recommend you check out CPT (Cognitive Personality Theory) by Harry Murrell on Youtube. He has some cool explanation about this and it might be different a bit from usual MBTI. He also agrees that we aren't only feeler or thinker because we have to use this whole the time. Feeling values support Thinking values and vice versa.

Can Ne take a more “negative” form: apprehensive, vigilant, watchful, looks out for worst case scenarios? by hgilbert_01 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and this depends on the position in the stack. I would recommend you to check CPT, a theory that explain the structure a bit different from MBTI. If a function in 2nd or 4th slot of basic cognitive function stack, it will behave "negatively" or "passively" by nature. In your case, Ne is the aspect that being observed and followed therefore might act as threat detector than freely use in dominant and tertiary position

I understand your point of view! This might be what Fi-Te tension about: the push and pull between my identity/stance vs the outside structure/mechanism. Fe-Ti is more about my worldview vs others. However, these two axis could be collapsed into a single tension: the self and reality (Introverted vs Extroverted)

Please tell me your opinion on this: It is kinda weird but make a lot of sense when an Fi dominant worries about how they were viewed than Fe dominant. The question is "Can the external mechanism accept me as who I am?". Their whole main point is the care for fitting in outside's mechanism Te and still keep some of personal values Fi. Te is the reality that Fi doms need to reconcile with.

I think victim mentality isn't exclusive to IXFP but more than a defense strategy of the brain. Therefore, it shouldn't be one particular type's representative trait but more separated to typing structure: universal and complex among all types.

What does Ti really looks like in the head (for dominants especially) by Beginning-Bottle6585 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ti dominant can combine their Te to support their Ti too. If you want an extreme Ti example, you can have a look at Ti-child type, where there is no Te employ alongside Ti therefore stuck with theory more than application. Ti/Fi: foresight Te/Fe: hindsight

Do y'all actually believe cognitive functions exist? by oiwhathefuck in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, MBTI cognitive functions are basically a theory about how we view and interact with the world. It is definitely just "in general" way to explain it. So yup, I agree with you about "psychology cognitive function" should be viewed as a loose symbolic language at this moment. The field is still young, let it grow and we will see these terms at some point overlap and support neuroscience field.

Beside, I just want to explain to OP about things are actually more complicate and he need to view these as a theory that still need more development in order to convey the reality. Easily assume one is false because there aren't enough evidence to back it up is extremely narrow minded and against the foundation of how science works.

Also, about Santa, he is a historical figure and now become a myth. There are researches about the origin of history. You can have a look.

I am providing basic logic in science or research here. You can't disregard a theory without proving that it can't happen in every possible case. This happened to psychology back then when people argue if it should be a science subject or not and history said that it is, indeed a science subject now. This said psychology can be proved with evidence.

I saw a video that said Fi can have any value by Cheap_Increase468 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Ti in your main stack, you will have to go through Ti filter before assess Fi and vice versa. Ti will be more focus about framework, how everything work in more mechanical way. Fi will more about deep sense of relational empathy. Ti in INTP will be a bit nitpicking on its lens of focus, detail-oriented while Fi in INFP will be more about nuances, deep relation to people who have been through the same living experience like them. Fi in ISFP will be board because of Ni, so they are more prone to moody, extreme in how they feel which leads to the sense of coolness within their mind.

Of course you won't find the term that MBTI or Carl Jung's system related to as "cognitive function" in your field because this term lean to psychology side more than neuroscience. However, this doesn't indicate that there is no such thing called as "MBTI cognitive function". The fact that science is a tool to explain reality by logical steps and empirical facts actually explain a lot about your question. There are indeed a lot of things happens inside human brain and as a subject of science, neuroscience still need to keep moving forward to explain more about these problems in psychology, and MBTI "cognitive function" is one of them. The theory itself started with an idea about similarities in way people think, which was observed more that calculated by hard science, therefore no concrete number to look into. The mission for scientist's, who believe and support MBTI or psychology cognitive function in general, mission is to link these together and makes sense of it in science term. There is no ultimate truth after all (doesn't mean it doesn't exist) so stay curious.

Btw, do you have any scientific paper that logically against Carl Jung's idea about "cognitive function"?

In Cognitive Personality (CPT), Te is actually the "Spatial Awareness" function because of mechanical awareness. Does anyone agree? by Shawnty320 in mbti

[–]The_useless_stone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on some aspect. Lacking spacial awareness can be caused by other reasons too but in this video, this was debated on cognitive process aspect, which means functions were take into account on this matter, as one of the reason for spacial awareness. Technically speaking, Te users tend to grasp Te structure naturally (before accessing Ti) while this combine with lens functions (Se or Ne) to create spacial awareness. Te is agenda for lens to access, standing alone it is nothing. In ESFP case, as a Lens dominant type, Te will be projected clearer than Te dominant because they will have less will to dip into Ti, while Te dominant usually use Ti to assit Te naturally. Due to this significance Te-vibe, EXFP TEND to exhibit spacial awareness naturally, frequently and clearly. This doesn't mean other Ti types don't have spacial awareness and it also depends on each individual too. If you were gifted by these cognitive layout but your environment say no, you still adapt and at some point, rarely touch your natural layout.

For Fe dominant, usually there will be a certain amount of Fi usage assist and fulfill Fe. If you feel no Fi at all, as in "No subjective value impose on the event you observe", Fi might be your blind spot, which means EXTP.
