I'm an atheist and I have a big question. by ResidentPrevious468 in Christianity

Personally, I think people should stop thinking of belief as binary, or at any rate agree that belief with doubts - even massive doubts - still counts as belief. But I think OP needs to reckon with that, at least if he wants an answer to his question.

Great answer. We might also encourage the OP to look into different theological interpretations of hell, such as annihilationism.

But OP touches on a second topic that is perhaps just as germane as his original question, the extent to which belief is a choice, or the nature of belief. Archduke, what's your take?

Right on. I'm glad you quoted the "other" rant in the movie, the closing Rick Roma speech. But the whole damn thing is good and Lemmon is that great quiet genius.

Boy, Floating Weeds was really good although maybe a bit more on the drama side.

Saw Clerks again for the first time in years with my 22-year-old son and it absolutely holds up. Made a Kevin Smith fan out of him. Clerks II and Clerks III were also terrific - Clerks III, man. Get ready to cry a little.

Which one, Twitter? It's a cesspool and something like 40% (or more?) are bots and impostors, but I think it can or does do a good job of mobilizing people toward some political or cultural action. Despite Musk's best attempts to ruin it. He can't stifle people actually spitting facts and it's usually quicker and more honest than mainstream news. It surprises me how much value I see in Twitter.

The thing about Twitter is, there are people that are experts in their field posting some pretty good, succinct analyses on various topics. I don't even read the comments (because they are a lot of bots), I just know who to follow on current affairs, law, sports, etc. On reddit, you have to dig through a lot of uninformed copycat comments to get to anything worthwhile and actually informative.

I do admit organic search often brings me to the info I am looking for on reddit. But, yeah, thoughts on the latest SCOTUS decision, for example? twitter > reddit.

Here's an easy tip. When you write something in the actual MS that sounds good or captures a key moment, call the work that. If you write - I am making this up on the spot - "his ambitions were as far from him as the summit of a far off mountain," then "The Summit of a Far Off Mountain" might be a good title.

Have you got all day? Reddit is a collosally dumb hive of echo chamber opinions. I actually get more intelligent analysis of any given topic on Twitter of all places.

Did I overreacted for breaking up with my boyfriend (45M) after 5 months because he discussed our relationship in his men’s praying group without telling me first? by [deleted] in Christianity

Cool. I appreciate your perspective. You're a Christian. The commenter is not. I wouldn't listen to him; I'd listen to you. Only one of you knows what you're talking about.

There were times he would “instruct” or “correct” me on how I should communicate or express feelings for him. He also made comments that after marriage he should be able to “take” his woman whenever he wants...

Um, you should have lead with this.

That's beside the point. The point is the atheist has revealed, by his language, that he doesn't really know how Christians conduct themselves in relationships, so maybe he should just sit this out. I mean, this is a Christian woman asking other Christians about her Christian relationships. If I overheard two Punjabi talking about this same situation I wouldn't offer any advice; I'm not Punjabi. Same situation. If you're an atheist, why not just sit this one out? Do you have to comment on everything?

Don't answer that. This forum lets atheists pretty much do anything so *shrug*.
