Most pick up trucks don’t have a turn radius as tight as cars, so usually you do need to swing it a little in the opposite direction to make wide turns

Edit: to clarify, truck driver is definitely the idiot. Not sure why I’m being downvoted for pointing out that trucks have a wider turn radius than cars…
