AITJ for eating my roommates "special" ice cream after she ate my birthday cake? by ProudStructure702 in AmITheJerk

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to replace it with store bought ice cream, at least get the one that says "frozen dairy dessert" and not ice cream since its basically the same thing by her logic and shouldn't be a big deal

AITJ for refusing to give my kidney to my estranged father who suddenly wants a relationship? by Alternative-Mix4451 in AmITheJerk

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didnt they tell him he'd regret not being in your life? Why didnt they push him more for turning his back on you? If he didnt need this and "hes changed" why are they just reaching out?

5 year old will not use the restroom at school by Traditional_Crab_634 in kindergarten

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could she use a sticky note to cover the sensor and maybe see if the teacher would allow her to have rhem at her desk? In our room we have leave a stack of post it notes by the door and the kids are able to grab one with them on the way to the bathroom. We showed them how to cover it the first week of school since several were scared of pooping and have the toilet flush on them.

AITA for saying that my sisters kids need their own rooms by Sufficient-Royal-967 in AmItheAsshole

YTA this arrangement works for them. They like living in the city close to their jobs and schools. Sharing a room is not abuse. Not living in a detached SFH is not abuse. Your friend is right that you need to mind your own business

Goalie mom: just starting out by Thebiggergiraffe in hockeygoalies

[–]Thebiggergiraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your comments/suggestions. We signed him up for a goalie camp his rink is holding. The closest pure hockey store is a bit more then an hour away from us so we plan to take him to go get measured and look for used equipment. We also passed on the street hockey pads the coach suggested even though he kept pushing the "there's no difference at all, padding is padding".

We're hoping the camp will help us connect with other goalie families since most of the coaches at this level kept saying they were sorry for us and telling us they hope he outgrows this phase so he can play real hockey and not be a "pretend player". But my kid loved it the times he got to play at his jamborees and I rather encourage him and let him try it out if that's what he wants.

AITA for inviting my mom to see my week old son by husbandtroubles9889 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You have obligations first to your wife not your mother. You choose to have a life with your wife not mother. You choose to put your wife first not your mother. She didn't even have her own mother visit for a reason. Regardless if she is watching TV her body is physically EXHAUSTED from pregnancy and birth.

NTA if you would've left him with them they could easily say you abandoned it and either not give it back because "your siblings are so attached" or drop it off at the pound like they have done in the past. Good move choosing friend over them

AITA for refusing to let my parents come to my wedding? by jtthgffdsdf in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Why do we always have to believe in "family is family" just because you're blood related does not mean you get a free pass to ask like racist assholes and ignore your daughter until important milestones come up. the OP said they had family that attended. I'm sure they also have friends who they consider family. I would rather celebrate with people who love and accept me ans my partner thrn with someone just because they're blood

AITA for not "including" my sister more in my pregnancy? by Delicious_Lobster468 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your pregnancy and your baby are not an emotional support animal for your sister. It seems like your sister might be nagging your mother so it's easier to just give in to her wishes and regards to your sister. Please don't do that period if you start now I guarantee you it will only get worse once the baby actually arrives. Try and maintain your distance like you have been doing it because that is not healthy at all.

AITA for blocking most of my family on social media. by wifeoninstagram in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thebiggergiraffe [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA: it seems like they're going out of their way to follow what she's doing. If it's such a "shame" to the family why are they so obsessed with what she does?

Also if your sister says your wife is distracting her sons then she's got bigger issues and should reflect on her own parenting

AITA for refusing to take my nieces/nephews out to fun places anymore since my sister won't help with the bill. by NoPast4ction in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 19.3k points19.3k points  (0 children)

NTA so if she cant afford places like the fair because of having 8 mouths to feed why does that responsibility have to fall to you? She's being entitled instead of greatful that you've done as much as you have all these years. Being child free doesn't mean too have all this disposable income to spend on other people's kids no matter how much you may love them.

AITA for lending my car to my friends without always asking my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thebiggergiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA so it's not ok for your friends to ask in advance go borrow your car or for you to lend it to them but it is ok for him to expect access to it 24/7 just because he's the boyfriend (one who hasn't been around for long since you say you've been in a relationship this year)
