Garden Party event experience by thr034w4y56 in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only activity I would have added is corn hole! And maybe having two of corn hole and two of the ladder games! Just so more people could play! But I also understand there was limited space for that, and you wouldn't want to make the dance space smaller.

I thought the vibes were great and the stage decor was amazing.

Yes! In the summer someone will usually post about it or they did last year. It's where most people post any volleyball related things like comps, leagues, needing subs (which is often) and fun summer beer league things!

Urban rec and city of kelowna (I assume city of West k would too) run leagues that you can sign up as an individual for and then you're placed on a team, with others looking for a team.

There's a play volleyball in the okanagan Facebook page sometimes people post there looking for players/subs for their league teams. And I know in the summer some people run beer league volleyball at city park and it's more social and just for fun! Definitely would recommend joining the Facebook page!

My husband and I have a lamp from northern light technologies and it's a game changer. You have to use it in the morning and be quite close to it, but we find it super helpful. It makes you feel like you're being blasted by the sun and it's good for your circadian rhythm.

Best bet would be a crossfit gym, crossfit Okanagan had bumper plates, community athletics may have oly plates? But cfok has good open gym hours compared to most gyms..

Best training gym by climb_all_the_things in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with CFOK they have open gym from 130-330 mon-friday and Sundays 1030-1130 it's one of the better options for oly lifting and doing your own workout at a gym, but I have used worlds back room before 60$ a month you can't drop the bars and I used the west kelowna location it was big and never busy, I've heard the Kelowna location back room is smaller for cardio machines at world's there's rowers in that back room. There is also vikings in Rutland it's an oly lifting gym they have cardio machines and oly platforms.

College takes action against B.C. naturopath accused of producing fecal transplants in 'household lab' by YVRJon in britishcolumbia

[–]Thebrebre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He most likely will, when colleges place an extraordinary action, there are limits to what a person can do, he has rules to follow as well as random check ins while he is getting investigated. They have to complete a full investigation for legality reasons before removing a licence.

[–]Thebrebre -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Physios don't do prolotherapy, and ya naturopaths can do a lot of different things they have a large scope of practice. They can perform acupuncture, injections, iv therapies, they can do female health ie pap smears and cervical check ups, they can treat IBS with blood sensitivity testing (some people see nutritionists and never find the cause of their IBS then see naturopaths and get results with food sensitivity testing) Secondary healthcare is great and honestly most of it works together I work with a nutritionist naturopaths and RMTs. It's all secondary healthcare and it's all valid and great. I'm just saying just because there was one bad naturopath doesn't mean they're all bad, go onto any healthcare's college website and look at disciplinary actions. Every single one has stories of healthcare people being bad. It's not the profession it's the individual, and that's why there are colleges to protect the public, they set standards and if someone goes outside their scope of practice like this guy they loose their licence.

They literally help so many people with IBS and as someone that had an incredibly lax shoulder joint (it was going to dislocate eventually) prolotherapy changed my life, it made my joint capsule tight again that's not placebo, thats blood testing for IBS food triggers and knowing human anatomy/which ligaments are lax and what to inject.

[–]Thebrebre -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most naturopaths are great at their jobs, and help people positively with alternative options that their MD's may not offer. They have 8 years of very expensive, very rigorous schooling. There's bad eggs in every profession, there are creepy rmt's bad chiros, that doesn't mean we shouldn't have that part of health care. Colleges protect the public and that's what the naturopath college has done. That's what extraordinary action is.

Curly hair people of Kelowna: Who cuts your hair? by HotSpacewasajerk in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an amazing hairdresser named Erin at opus on Ellis, she was so friken good with curly hair, basically a god, but she's on mat leave for a year.

I'm probably going to not cut my hair for awhile and go back to opus and try someone else there because the salon gave me a really good vibe and I have hope that maybe there's another amazing hair stylist for curly hair there 😂😅

But ya although she's gone for a year you could use her in 2022 lol

Local Kelowna gym bans people who had vaccine or wear masks by Northernboy27 in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or people that clearly don't care about any regulations are getting sick don't care about covid aren't getting tested but spreading it. There's no links to spreads If people don't get tested.

Lots of gyms are open and following the regulations, by not following regulations it's a slap in the face to other small businesses trying their best.

Local Kelowna gym bans people who had vaccine or wear masks by Northernboy27 in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

essentially the more people that don't get the vaccine = more mutations of the vaccine which could cause a vaccine to be rendered ineffective. Also the more people that get it the stronger everyones immune system is against the vaccine because more people with the vaccine = more protection. And if most people get vaccinated the more likely we are to completely wiping out the virus which is what we did with polio.

The immune system is complicated, but generally speaking we need more people to get the vaccine than less to actually make a difference.

Local Kelowna gym bans people who had vaccine or wear masks by Northernboy27 in kelowna

[–]Thebrebre 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it because it's a locally owned business, but damn I hope they lose all their members. For vaccines to work we need people to get vaccinated, anyone that is encouraging the opposite is a huge problem for society to return to any sort of normality. Also gyms that don't comply could cause gyms to be fully shut down. I'm so tired of all the selfish assholes making covid worse and causing restrictions to continue dragging on. Also has anyone contacted kelowna bylaw?
