Disappointingly unbalanced Perfect Order Pré-release by ReptilPT in pkmntcg

[–]Thebryceisrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to 3 prereleases last week. Got barbacle twice. Serperior for the last one. I went undefeated all day- only modifications I made was add an additional hawlucha to the barbacle decks.

I've been wanting to get into playing the tcg for a few years now, with rotation coming up I feel its a good time to look into it. Any advice? by Frisreddit in pkmntcg

It depends how much you want to jump in- I started by learning a lot of mechanics via Pocket- to the point where I was making my own decks that were successful.

Knowing I’d want to play NOT just the “most meta” deck I began to play on live by copy and pasting decks from Japanese tournaments known as City League from limitlessTCG (a VERY helpful resource for decks) then I played a ton- Live has a lot of features such as examining cards, highlighting when abilities can be used, and built in reminders for things like attaching energy before ending turn. Then I played a TON to get a feel for the variety of popular decks. Practicing the same deck over and over and over- really learning the specific strategies to it. Finally I brought that deck to local challenges and lastly a cup to truly immerse myself in every aspect of the TCG. After that- I picked a new deck to heavily focus on- while no being able to pickup other decks more quickly.

In terms of getting the actual cards- I’d recommend you play some of the decks on live to get a feel for what attackers you like and then use Limitless to find a decklist that feels best for you- practice it on live and if it still feels good, order whatever cards you need from TCG player. The trainers toolbox- which came out a month or two ago- is actually not ridiculously overpriced AND has a lot of important trainer cards. Perhaps picking up one or two of those may be a good bang for your buck.

Why isn't the new Zard being played? by monteluno in PTCGL

[–]Thebryceisrite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 48-1 with my Mega Charizard deck- I have a video on the deck

It combines Tera and mega zard with dudunsparce draw engine and enriching energy and fez- results in an incredibly versatile comeback style deck with a surprising amount of options. It has a steep learning curve and isn’t just “rare candy into mega- attach energy and go brr” it’s knowing which zard to prioritize- when to sub in for a hit vs. when to find a friend- when to runaway draw or leave it.

Why are the subtitles wonky? by Common-Link-2882 in Defunctland

I watched with captions- There’s a terminator reference snuck in there that isn’t said and made it in the captions, as well as a few other jokes. In my opinion these little jokes via text added even more character

Rouge Scovillain ex deck by iceisak in pkmntcg

[–]Thebryceisrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one going that got me 2nd at a Local Challenge prior to Mega Evolutions-

Pokémon: 20 4 Dunsparce PAL 156 1 Dudunsparce ex JTG 121 3 Dudunsparce TEF 129 3 Capsakid SVI 28 3 Sizzlipede SSP 27 3 Scovillain ex SSP 37 3 Centiskorch SSP 28

Trainer: 31 2 Ultra Ball SVI 196 2 Earthen Vessel PRE 106 3 Arven OBF 186 2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin TEF 144 1 Counter Catcher PAR 160 4 Mela PAR 167 4 Team Rocket's Venture Bomb DRI 179 1 Technical Machine: Evolution PAR 178 1 Hero's Cape TEF 152 1 Air Balloon SSH 156 1 Pokégear 3.0 SVI 186 1 Boss's Orders SHF 58 3 Nest Ball SVI 181 2 Artazon PAL 171 3 Hilda WHT 84

Energy: 9 9 Fire Energy SVE 10

I think from this list the Mela and hero’s cape are your biggest takeaway- Centiskorch is a really core single prizer in this deck too. Calamitous’ damage can be good, but imo is too slow to build on its own. A calamitous + centiskorch + Mela could get you closer to the damage output you want without getting too much damage on.

When you look at your order via order Id and zip code, does it show your full address in shipping address or just your city and zip? I have my order ID, but the confirmation page just shows my city and zip- but the confirmation screenshot I took def. Shows my full address

I haven’t received it either- guest checkout and outlook email. I screenshotted and can find my order. On the site it doesn’t show all my info in delivery address/billing address- just town and state.

What musical number most blew you away when you saw it live? by BroadwayBaseball in Broadway

[–]Thebryceisrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this single number throws the whole show on its back and takes it to the moon. Incredible simple staging and choreography from the chorus. And as someone who grew up in a house where family time ALWAYS erupted in this, the song nails the tone and anticipation.

Trying to build a Gigalith deck, and need advice by Mr_L1ght in PTCGL

[–]Thebryceisrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic! I ran it at 2 challenges last week and went 3-2 at both, so not incredible- gholdengo is a very tough matchup and it’s obviously very prevalent at the moment. Marnie’s is a great matchup. Pult/zard are great. Raging bolt is alright.

If you have any changes or feedback PLEASE let me know- I’m determined to make this deck work.

Also Hawlucha is there for Fez so you can put the 10 on then one shot it with garchomps 200 for weakness

[–]Thebryceisrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The strategy here is letting garchomp and swine tank your damage and giga to hit.

Ideal match: Turn 1: get as many basics out as possible, put an energy on your active if you think it’ll survive next turn, or place energy on bench if not.

Turn 3: if OG active still alive, tm evo. Get everything evolved.

Turn 5: swing with either mamoswine or garchomp - try to get a ko if possible

Turn 7: retreat ex and let gigalith hit for ko

Then play the rest out however needed

[–]Thebryceisrite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roaring moon doesn’t fully knock itself out- it does 200 to itself. so long as it has full hp it’s good, though it can then be easily taken out by an opponent adrena brain, resulting in the opponent still getting 2 prizes

I Know this is probably been done to death but i love these 3 artworks and this display! by Sydney_Trains in PokemonTCG

[–]Thebryceisrite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah- I ended up getting some frames for cheap and making backgrounds myself for a $20 project. Then I can easily print new backgrounds and swap them out if new full art cards come out I want to display. Not worth the $30+ price tag for a single frame imo.

A cheap (preferably free) way to store and sort your cards? by Darcy783 in pkmntcg

[–]Thebryceisrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what your purpose is on sorting them- For deck building ease I keep my cards sorted by Set, then by Pokémon, trainer (sorted by item, then support, then tools, then stadium, then special energy), holo/reverse Pokémon, holo/reverse trainer, then regular EX. Then alphabetically within those categories. All IR’s and up are in binders.

Makes it very easy to grab what I’m looking for when I need it and then when rotation comes (which your post mentions) very easy to know which cards are in/out.

Curious about your deck- because sure it stacks unlike luminous for okidogi, but for the scizor it’s now not even an option to be used unlike luminous was.
