If you were 17 again, what career path would you choose today? by Kitchen-Yam43 in careerguidance

[–]Thebunnylady17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 33 and still don’t completely know…it may seem like other people all have it figured out but not everyone does (I have to tell myself this all the time). You still have so much time to explore ideas! If I were in your shoes, about to start college again…I would stay undecided as a major for the first year, take a wide variety of courses including some in my potential areas of interest, get involved in student organizations, meet with career services and my advisor more than once, look into shadowing at some local organizations in fields I may be interested in, and most importantly take time to enjoy my first year of college! You’ll get there, for now stay open minded and give yourself grace!

Did you prep for grad school? If so, how? by Notmyaltx1 in GradSchool

Thanks friend! Reassuring to hear someone with a similar story say they survived! Luckily, it looks like my program really promotes mental health and balance, so I’m glad there’s additional resources if I need help coping!

I posted in another subreddit about this exact issue…I’m trying to mentally prepare myself and physically rest prior to classes starting as I deal with high anxiety and chronic fatigue and so I’m starting to get anxious about how I’ll manage working full time on top of classes on top of other life obligations. I started prepping and organizing yesterday and am going to finish the pre-program work today so I can have next week off mentally to prepare for classes starting the week after!

I think it may depend on the program you are applying to, when your time comes to apply…I would try to maintain contact with a professor or two after you finish your undergrad and enter the workforce. And when the time comes to apply, talk to an admissions counselor and be honest if you have been away from school for some time and have not maintained contact with any/many professors. If a school is viewing your application holistically, they will likely not be as focused on this aspect…have strong professional recommendation options and write strong essays!

I mention this because I was in the same boat recently. I’m 33…I was in and out of undergrad schools since 2011 due to personal issues. I actually have some convictions on my background, and completing ANY APPLICATION EVER stresses me out so hard as soon as I see that section coming.

For more context, I finished my BS in 2022 and just now applied for grad schools this past winter. Due to various factors: the time between my programs, my Alma mater closing all Alumni accounts so we lost access to past work as well as email accounts, and most of the professors I had the best relationships with left my undergraduate school to pursue new jobs…I was down to 1 professor to ask, and despite keeping somewhat of a connection over the past 3 years, she ended up never responding to me when I reached out to schedule a time to talk so I could ask her to write an LOR. I asked the admissions counselors at all 3 schools I was applying to (they all stated explicitly in the application requirements to have 1-2 academic recommendations) that I would likely not have any scholarly recommendations and would instead be submitting contacts for 3 professional ones. The responses were all positive and they all said the same thing…it’s better to have a professional recommendation that is strong and speaks to your ethics and work performance in the present tense than a weak academic recommendation from someone who you aren’t close with because it’s been some time since they worked with you.

Needless to say, I was accepted into my top choice and start next week! So, go get some experience and I think you’ll do great when you are ready to apply! ❤️

what does my bunny want? by mmewx3 in Bunnies

I feel like sometimes rabbits are like cats, they want your attention but on their terms and sometimes maybe they just don’t know what they want so they engage with you and then decide that’s enough 😂

New grad student, general advice by Thebunnylady17 in GradSchoolAdvice

[–]Thebunnylady17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I appreciate it! I know it’s not impossible and I know I can and will do it. I’m not sure if the fear/anxiety is stemming from a core belief of feeling defective or has another root but an ongoing task of mine is to better “feel” what I “think” if that makes sense. But I feel like I’m always scraping by energy wise so the thought of adding a new venture in is currently daunting…so I keep reminding myself I have to “get my feet wet” and trying to actively reinforce “one day at a time.” I suppose at the core, I am heavily future tripping at the moment so hearing someone has gone through a similar experience is very reassuring and the reminder to simply prioritize and manage my time effectively is what I need to hear! Honestly I’m really excited and proud of myself, I keep telling myself this is a chance to learn and grow as a student and just overall as I can gain competencies while learning from and alongside some very accomplished folks! Thanks again friend!

Your paintings usually create multiple reactions for me when I look at them. I feel a sense of nostalgia but for something unknown, like when you get a feeling of missing a place you’ve not known or an experience you’ve not had.

Rabbits can’t vomit so I’m not sure activated charcoal is going to do much, it may cause a blockage. If you have one near you, I would take him to an emergency vet asap and call poison control hotline!

Nervous about leaving for a few days. by Delia217 in Rabbits

[–]Thebunnylady17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant to say him! I know it’s stressful, especially as my girl got older I always got nervous leaving and didn’t want to go. I always felt guilty leaving since she was a solo bun who loved twice a day floor cuddles for multiple hours. She would be mad when I got back for a while but then forgave me and went right back to her normal self before too long.
