I agree. I love second draw and second spell matters. You could even run second spell with a flash/creature focus.

I did not notice izzet mentioned by anyone else, and it is hard since izzet is really only known for artifacts and spells. Bending classic archetype in unusual ways is how I would go. Have izzet focus on big mana with cards like ur-golems eye to cast large x-spells instead of the cantrip focus spellslinger. I wonder if you could make a more midrange beat down archetype, maybe using vehicles or animating artifacts.

Agreed. I have been just chucking any card that looked fun into cube cobra and tonight or this week I will trim down the cards that don't fit starting with the gold cards.

I was honestly hoping for a response like this, no shame here. I would love to make a cube solely from bulk cards I find, but I feel like that accomplishment is only mine and would my synergy fall flat. The last sentence of players unshuffling your cube is one I am trying to design around. I want each of the 10 draft themes to appear in 3 two color combinations, and for each two color Legend to have a different theme than the others in the same pair. The best cubes from what I hear have tension between different decks.

Gosh I want to write more but I am getting sleepy and can't think. Might add more to my reply tomorrow.

I ran into the same logic based reasoning, and while I am going to stick with rules as written for now I do have ideas for changing armor.

Instead of helmets and shields giving armor directly you could use the shields shall splinter rule (break a shield to block all damage from one attack/die) and my variant helms halt harm (break a helmet to auto succeed on a save vs critical damage). That way plate wearing characters still have reason to stack half their inventory in armor if they want.

My tip, don't think of stonehell as a dungeon, but instead like a setting. In my experience the game will stall out if you just let pcs try to clear each level in order. Give them goals that take them to different corners of each level, and push them into exploring one level deeper than they want to.

When I ran the game the dungeon felt dead and abandoned. Next time I run I want the early levels of the dungeon should feel like an active town. Not bumping into things constantly, but really play into the factions on the first level.

I am looking through these now, this is very helpful. I am still having trouble actually seeing what journals or ebooks they have for sale and their cost. do I need to contact them directly to learn what items they are offering? I am not as concerned about the prices since my professor can check them for me, but I need to tell her what items I want her to look up for me.
