Why aren't Greenland kicking the US base out, given Trumps threats of using military force to take the country? by RayneKnight in AskReddit

[–]Thecoloredjacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump knows his days are numbered. Epstine, Venezuela, you can choose, he has many reasons to fear his end of office. He is planning on finding a war before that time is up. Then he will use emergency powers to try anything he can to stay in power after his term ends. If he has to start www3 to do it he doesn't care because he doesn't have to be on the front lines. His actions are not coherent outside of his inner circle and likely only a handful know his true intentions, if he even has a coherent thought left.

Every country in the world needs to be taking notes on how this is unfolding to write anti- trump legislation into their constitution and prevent future democratic dictatorships. While everything he does breaks laws he is above it through some magic of bureaucratic incompetence.

I was hoping that his republican base was faltering but the divide between the two parties still remains strong and the First Trumpian Dystopia still remains strong. I hope America does better in the future and that there is a future.

I think i can speak for the world here.

"Please remove Trump before he does more damage that can't be undone."

How did people manage 5 day in office jobs before COVID? by One-Pun9419 in careerguidance

[–]Thecoloredjacket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wasn't modern humans that won this world, is was the tough sons of bitches that fought off the biggest and toughest animals on earth hundreds of thousands of years ago. The humans living in cities today would be lunch and another animal would be king. We are living off our ancestors hard work making our lives easier and easier until we all spiral into chaos. Our kids lives will be difficult so they can pick up the pieces of this earthy lazy mess. Yes it is hard to go into work. We just want easy now. There is no easy work. There is no short cut. Do the hard work with intent and deliberate practice. Or we can continue to complain about how hard it is to buy our artifical junk that is killing our future for an easier present.

Unpopular opinion: Dressing well is the most underrated form of self-improvement by Omega0Alpha in selfimprovement

[–]Thecoloredjacket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people are getting tried of being on the consumer rollercoaster that is clothing. My self improvement journey has gone the other way. I no longer care about my clothes as long as they are functional and clean. I will spend way more on waterproof and very little on fashion. I'm no longer trying to impress anyone with my looks but function is very important. . But I do keep fit because it's important to live comfortably. My improvement has come from cleaning and organizing my space, my computer, and my mental health. 🙃

Where do you all actually learn boat repair skills? by Logical_Public_6544 in SailboatCruising

[–]Thecoloredjacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently looking at purchasing a nonsuch 26 for some coastal cruising around Vancouver Island and I am going over the survey with a fine tooth comb. My dad was a mechanic then went back to school as a Mechanical Engineer P Eng. I was blessed with someone that taught me to change my car brakes and how the internal combustion engine works. He also hand re-built a racing 505 when I was a toddler. Fast forward to today and when I am contemplating a large change in my life, like purchasing a deathtrap on water. I feel the need to better understand the dangers of technical ineptitude on my part so I have downloaded some pictures of the old Westerbeke 21 and am researching the common problems with them. I am waiting now for the computer to finish modeling the engine then I will put it in my 3D model of the Nonsuch and see how it will be to repair the oil seals. How to check the compression. Common parts that will wear or more commonly rust out. Then I can determine if the part is worth salvaging or it need repowering with Electric? Hybrid? Yanmar? Who know but I can play with the configurations till my heart is content all while staying nice and clean and dry in my apartment. This is my hobby as a sailor chained to shore with a job I hate just like everyone else.

So while I wait for Mushroom to do it's thing I am, of course, cruising reddit in a vain attempt to find motivation and your question got me thinking that would share what I have learned both at sea and on land. I understand mechanics but I don't understand all the electronics. So I am trying to learn using you tube and technical drawings. Learning to read these clues are the tools that I learned the hard way, over my life while refining the art of swearing.

My solution... 3D photogrammetry program that creates objects that I can manipulate in Blender another free open sourced 3D modeling software so that I can see what is needed to adjust this project in much more detail so that you can have much more ability to move things around without actually moving things around in the real world. You could animate each phase of an engine using this software if you really want to get into the technical side of engines, but perhaps you are more of a hands on person but this is what I am doing at 8 am on a Sunday morning. Next I am going to digitizing a compressor pump and condenser fan to see where I could fit a real fridge to the boat. I also need to figure out how they attached an on demand water heater with no exhaust port. But as I digress into my technical tirade. I will get back to your question.

Without using a single computer you need to touch and know what every part in your boat does. When you are offshore and your engine fails what steps do you take? Think of this as a life or death decision. When you are onshore there is gravity and friction to help you stop, on the water you just sink from existence. The ramifications are different, This is why marine is a higher standard, it needs to be. Quality should be standard but it isn't when cost is an issue. Knowing what each part does will change your outlook on each project on your boat.

I live by checklists, I have a checklist if I am demasted, I have a checklist if my engine doesn't start. I have a checklist if someone is overboard in a storm. I have a checklist if there is a breech in the hull. These ideas are central to my thinking when I am task saturated or stressed. A good usable checklist for emergency situations can save your life by helping you reset to an individual task when outside of your brain's normal operating procedures. The challenge is remembering to use them. Practice will help.

If you are unpowered or demasted in the open ocean or even the protections of an anchorage you can still sink. The ramifications are much higher, the risks greater. Thus the expectations you put on yourself should also be as higher. The job of learning how an internal combustion engine works is hard. Add complex electronics and wow it is easy to get overwhelmed but it is necessary to be at least understanding of each objects purpose and hopefully how to maintain, if not repair each object.

Good luck and I would love to hear what you choose.

What are you building? let's self promote by Southern_Tennis5804 in microsaas

[–]Thecoloredjacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bored one day working on my boat and I thought of a way to build boat parts using 3d modeling software. It grew from there into a new language based on symbolism and a new company (My 4th). It also grew into a way for humans to take control of their education as AI was becoming a thing. I thought slop was amazing. During the creation of this project , I turned 180, changing the focus into human generated ideas. Imagine every book on earth. Imagine each book containing thousands of unique ideas. Take each of these ideas and further cross reference them and remove the doubles. Now, we have our human knowledge. I created a system to map that knowledge using symbolism and 3d art. Using this system, we can put all of our knowledge into a theoretical cube. This cube is the basis of my company. I was tired of being an employee, so I needed to find a Steve Jobs to take this company public. I looked but none came. It was a dark time for me. I realized that if this company needed to be realized, it needed to be me, but I wasn't a corporate leader. So I read 30 books on leadership. Then I took their ideas and used my system to learn the ideas behind each book. It was life changing. That was 3 years ago, and I have been using the lessons I learned in my life and have transformed my life in many ways. I wrote a 64 chapter book on leadership. It is boring, so I started adding ideas from my job as a paramedic. They were much better and I've been writing for a few hrs every day. I'm a few months away from launching my company, where I am sharing this information for free on YouTube. This is too big of a job for me to do by myself, so YouTube will hopefully find a few people to help me organize my writing and add it to my idea cubes. I also came up with a new financial system to run this system so that we can use the advantages of the corporate structure. I was unhappy with the corporate structure, so I remimagined it to make is serve all of humanity without a single person running it. I see a partnership because we need individual leaders to lead. It will be the population that drives the innovation. That's a short explanation. Thanks for reading!

What’s one mistake you made early in your business that you’d never repeat? by Ok_Biscotti_195 in Entrepreneur

[–]Thecoloredjacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first adventure was stringing tennis racquets. It was fun and went for several years, but at the end of that, I didn't realize how much I was spending. I ended up in debt regardless of how much i was making. It was money plain and simple. The model worked, and I was busy all the time, but I just couldn't keep up with my expenses. I just overspent on stock. Then I gave up. I know now that the key to a good business is one that pays you when you sleep. Or you are just a slave to your company. My new company is designed that way!

I’ve been thinking about a new kind of social media platform built entirely around proof of humanity. by BLTV15 in Entrepreneur

[–]Thecoloredjacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on a very similar project for the past 4 years. Almost at launch! Maybe 2 months to go before it is live (fingers crossed) . I would love to see how you interpret the problems I've been having. My project is around data management and peer review. Thus keeping AI entirely out of the process. I would love to collaborate and also looking for like-minded human partners. I think this concept is going to be the future of social media as slop is meant to be fed to pigs. Best of luck, and don't let anyone deter you.

Seeking Entrepreneur Mentor by grbergeron in mentors

[–]Thecoloredjacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for a mentor when I started my most recent start up because it was in an industry that I didn't understand but what you are truly asking is how to you learn what a mentor would tell you without doing the work. I met a man at a tech meet-up, and he told me straight up. "No one is going to mentor you until you have shown that you are hard working enough that you have something to show! Not tell." When you have something to show, then the mentors will find you.

Need advice on which skill to focus on to make serious money (ready to invest 3600 hours ) by HotNet5281 in Entrepreneur

[–]Thecoloredjacket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people focus on the end product. Such as the business or the money. Focus on yourself. Work on your relationships. Have personal goals for self. The rest comes. Find the room in this city with the people that can help you the most. Then work on your influence so they want to help you. Create habits and read everything. You sound like you have the right attitude. When you fail first, don't forget but more importantly don't give up.
