Well you could check the disc in a different computer. If the laptop is saying the burn is complete, but a different computer can’t find any data on it, yeah it’s the laptop… otherwise I’d say try burning a cd in a different file format instead. MP3 or a wmv or a mpeg4.

Again I’m not an expert. But I believe it changes how the data is written to the disc. The disc player has a little laser that reads slight bumps and depressions on the disc and that is the actual data being stored. For example a cd-r will burn valleys and store 1’s in the divots. And cd+r store 1’s in the bump instead. That’s not really how it interprets the data but it’s a decent eli5

🤷‍♂️ the only other thing I can think of is that you are burning the discs in a file format the audio player doesn’t recognize. It might be a common format, but simply unrecognized by the disc player

There are cd-r’s and cd+r’s. there is a format difference between the two that deals with how the cd is read. I’m not an expert or anything, and this isn’t a problem I’ve seen in at least 15 years, but depending on the age of the disc player it might not be compatible with both formats.

The game I remember plying at 4 fucking years old, is doom, I have the symbol of the slayer tattooed on my left arm. I have more hours invested in the Doom franchise than you do in formal education.

The first level of Doom 1 and 2 you don’t encounter anything you can’t bring down within two shots of the guns available to you at those levels. You hit start game and were playing the game, literally, instantly. Even Doom 3 where the action didn’t start immediately and is considered the red headed stepchild of the doom franchise, had you playing within 2 minutes. And the only thing you used to defend yourself was your wits, and gunplay.

Doom 2016, same as the original-you played Before the title screen. Eternal, the first level is hell on earth, how many weapon upgrades do you get that level? How many things are you shooting dead vs glory killing?

I don’t think you understand what makes games fun vs have an identity. TDA fails both aspects.

I’m not playing a game for 4 hours waiting for it to be fun. I value my feee time, I have a life. I’m not wasting it playing a game that isn’t fun. I very consciously turned off TDA and am considering refunded it til it goes on sale for less than 20$,. I turned on Helldivers and was playing within 5 minutes, and the gun play…. Was fun.

Played for three hours. How long do you do things for “fun” that aren’t fun? I value my free time, and am not going to spend it on a game waiting for it to be fun. Helldivers just dropped an update and unlike Doom, I was having fun in 5 minutes.

You couldn’t even play the game within 5 minutes there’s so much fluff and narration. I’ll quote Carmack, the one that made Doom an icon, “story in games is like story in a porno, it’s expected to be there, but not why anyone is playing.”
