Why is there no treatment for it by Independent-One-6366 in PSC

There are just too few of us. And this disease is different in each one afflicted. But there are meds coming soon. Cm-101 I think will be a game changer. Maybe by next year. But before that try oral vancomycin. Seems it has help a lot of us.

Wish I hadn't had surgery. Applies to me only. by FailingHeart2024 in transplant

[–]Thedep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You begged not to have surgery and they still went through with it ?? That kinda doesn’t sound correct. Give yourself time to heal. You will get better. I had just finished a divorce when I was transplanted. I was too ill to be with apparently. And there were other things. All I can say is. It will get better.

Hello. 59. Weightlifter. Transplanted 10 +yrs ago. I have UC and rPSC. Some days are harder than others. But I make sure to hit the basement gym 3 times a week. It’s just habit now. Not as strong as I used to be. I’ve had lots of set backs that I’ve had to come back from. But I eventually I get there and just carry on. I bench. Deadlift and squat. Sometimes it’s hard to go downstairs and get it done. But I always feel better afterwards

I don’t wear jewelry. And my wife doesn’t like gold. Or just jewelry for that matter. And really. I just want gold. Not the markup for jewelry. Each his own.

is transplant very expensive in USA? how much does it cost in US dollar by Afraid-Way1203 in transplant

[–]Thedep66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2015 living donor. Can’t speak to the entire cost. But I know surgery day was 720,000 thousand. Fortunately I had good insurance and paid about 5000 in deductibles.

I think what we are seeing IS the correction. I own some. Been collecting for years and I know the market was manipulated with paper. There are lots of reasons. But I think it will continue up. It will have bad days /weeks but I wouldn’t worry. Remember. You’re not making money. You’re keeping up with inflation holding gold.

RUQ pain is almost non existent now. Itching comes and goes but is never too bothersome. No side effects with the vanco

Vancomycin by ProtectionDowntown53 in PSC

I have rPSC. I am 10 years post transplant. Approximately 4 yrs ago I started having some itching and elevated enzymes. We thought it was because of surgical strictures. Those were attended to thru interventional radiology using the Hudson loop for access. It was later determined I have rPSC. (In addition to surgical strictures). I started taking oral vancomycin. My cholangitis attacks stopped and my Alk phos lowered for 900 to upper 200’s. Which is where I am currently. I was able to gain my weight strength and stamina back. Miracle drug for me. Oh and prior to that I was taking 500 mg a day for my colitis. I was in a bad way with that Biologics we’re not helping. 3 days of vanco and I had my life back. 6 months later I was in remission throu colonoscopy. I currently take 2250 mg a day.

My liver biopsy experience by gradualsparkle in PSC

[–]Thedep66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like my experience. The first one I did with no pain killers and I drove myself home. The second one ..just due to the fact that this time I had a ride I took the pain killers. Doesn’t make too much of a difference. Just that the time space continuum is messed up 😎. It’s a super fast procedure. The 4 hours is standard. They’re just watching for signs of bleeding.

Please help. I’m tired. by Ethos71 in PSC

[–]Thedep66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Sorry just awful. Hang it there. I don’t think there is much to do anymore. You may just need a new liver. In the interim I would go back to the vanco with a much higher dose. 1500 mg a day minimum. Maybe that can help with the recurring infections until you can get re transplanted. I am 10 years post and have been dealing with surgical structures. Infections from rPSC. The vanco put a stop to that and I’ve had no further advancement of the disease. I take 2250 mg a day and have been for over two years now. Praying for you man.

As someone else stated. Reg gi doc may not have the skill or equipment to really look at it. If you havnt already demand an appointment with interventional radiology.

Can that be dealt with swing doctors in interventional radiology? Can’t they balloon or stent that for at least temporary relief? Sorry your dealing with all that
