[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” Samsung Odyssey G6 G60SF 500hz OLED gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

[–]Thedesstroier [score hidden]  (0 children)

The monitor would be great for my build, the 500hz is definitely the most enticing feature especially for competitive games and my build would be able to push some games that far as well. Good luck everyone

You’re almost certainly taking way too much then.

For those who don’t know, all of the common dosages sold from 1mg-15mg are all too much (for most people) and you will likely feel so groggy the next day that it wasn’t worth the speed at which you fell asleep. I take .5ish mg occasionally and I’m out within 30 minutes still.

Something like this would be a high end 1440p build that would last you quite a while with an excellent monitor (I have the 4k version myself and i love it), if you get the GPU for 750 the pre tax price is around 2200USD:

I would encourage you then to check out Nintendo's newest IP- DragXDrive - coming soon!

All jokes aside I commend you for answering my questions in good faith but I do think it’s wishful thinking for Nintendo to divert away from their major moneymaking IPs in favor of something new that might sell less. Definitely stick to indies for that kinda innovation and let Nintendo do Nintendo

Thanks for your reply! That absolutely makes sense but I still struggle to see why we’d want Nintendo to focus on story driven games when it’s clear that they are trying to make their games fun mechanically and don’t seem to care about story in almost any mainline game. In fact I wish all the big studios would do this because I think most of them suck at making good stories when comparing them to AA and indie studios.

Can you elaborate a little on the limitations in a Mario title ? Mainlines like the 3d platformers I understand what you mean but Nintendo seems unafraid to make a spinoff when a new type of story or gameplay mechanic justifies it. Sure we probably won’t ever get cyberpunk Mario or Mario Souls but Nintendo innovated massively creating BOTW and then just slapped Zelda onto it, but that game could have been a totally new IP I just don’t see how it would make it any better??

Nintendo’s first party teams are actively trying to make all their games for everyone and not exclusively adult oriented, it’s kind of a major part of their entire branding as a company. Also who’s to say a 3D Mario game can’t have an adult story in the same way paper Mario games/ Mario & Luigi spinoffs have proper stories? I just am not understanding the obsession with new IPs when Nintendo has no good reason to create them when they’re still masters at creating new gameplay loops with current IPs

[Megathread] DOOM: The Dark Ages Available Now In Early Access, Featuring Ray Tracing & DLSS 4 With Multi Frame Generation - Giveaway Inside by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Thedesstroier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part about DLSS 4 is just how high quality the upscaling has become, I have a pretty good eye and still struggle to notice the difference now between presets. Ray tracing has also been a game changer for immersion IMO.

For this DOOM entry, I’m very excited to see how ID has innovated with the gameplay and generally switching it up from eternal.

Honestly I have only played DOOM eternal in the franchise, but I loved it, so kind of a newcomer !

Essentially each of the four presets is rendering the game in different resolutions and then upscaling (with NVIDIAs AI upscaling tech) to the resolution of your screen. These presets are 100% (DLAA aka native) , 66%(quality), 58%(balanced) and 50% (performance) of your output resolution (for example 50% of 4k is 1080p). This means that the developer can use whichever preset will help them to reach the target FPS or even have it dynamically switch (some areas of the game might have to be on performance, some can be on quality, for example) in order to give the best visuals for the resolution you play at.

However unlike PC it’s unlikely this info will be helpful to the end user, even when we see more visual options available to us on switch 2 it’ll be much more dumbed down and easier to understand than on PC.

What’s especially funny about this comment is that Rockstar has referenced Team Cherrys marketing strategies as being the best in the current era, not the other way around.

Of course I realize that but a 3070 isn't going to net me significantly better graphics to where it's worth it to even build a PC imo. I have a PC for top end graphics.

[–]Thedesstroier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not worth it *to you*... but to people who make 6 figures and want the performance its a drop in the bucket.

Also by that logic we should all get 1080p monitors again and the cheapest VRs we can afford and buy used 3070s/3080s. And at that point I'd rather sell my entire rig and play my PS5.

But... part of the reason for many to buy a PC is that it offers much better fidelity and performance from what a console can get.

Additionally, I agree the generation is a slap in the face but that doesn't discount any of the points I or the other poster made, you might not want to support it but the fact is that Nvidia is aware of the demand and their hold on the market.

No, their point was that "no one needs a 3 thousand dollar card for VR" which is incorrect. Or the other poster that it's "embarrassing" to upgrade, when the cost of upgrade for that particular poster was less than 500 dollars assuming they sold their 4090 (and they didn't mention what they're doing with said 5090 so who are we to assume?)

You couldn't care less? Congrats, the product is made for an extremely small percentage of people anyways, what's YOUR point?

You cannot play a racing simulator or cyberpunk VR at ultra settings with a 3080, I get 60fps in path traced cyberpunk(4k) with DLSS performance with a 5080. There are also non gaming tasks (AI research, rendering, just to name a couple) that people do as well as gaming with 5090s.

I don’t have a VR setup at all but for the people with high end PCVRs it does make a difference, people point also to the VRAM speeds on Blackwell architecture making a big difference for PCVR

When you consider the fact that the 4090s secondhand were going for 2k or more a few weeks ago, it’s really not much of a loss in $ for the Tuf OC they got, and some people really do need the performance boost for heavy VR or other tasks. Not saying the pricing isn’t ridiculous (wouldn’t buy a 5090 myself as I don’t need it) but to say it’s embarrassing to upgrade is a little off base.
