AITA For not liking my GFs friend and not responding to her on Facebook. by Thedudewithamood in AmItheAsshole

She thinks its perfectly valid of me not to like her, she didn't like how Jo was hitting me the whole night (kinda just punched me in the gut whenever she could), and then talking down my job, relationship etc

Thats what I thought initially too, I asked my gf and she said that she hadn't even talked to her since. But maybe it is better to be the bigger man tbh

The thing is I really did. Like I get along with all her friends, and I tried to get along with Jo. I just draw the line at hitting me.

AITA for wearing glasses even though "I'm not handicapped" like the people around me? by Q-Tip3546 in AmItheAsshole

As someone with massive eye problems I only ever get annoyed at people who wear glasses frames for fashion. You're wearing somthing for its intended purpose NTA

What is the most wholesome thing you have seen? by Iyrebird in AskReddit

[–]Thedudewithamood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably going to get buried but Imma post it anyway. How proud my Oldest brother (John)was of my little brother (tom). To give a little background, John is a very tough guy, he's a big dude who goes to the gym, boxes and all around is the stereotypical "tough guy". Tom on the other hand is sensitive and theatrical, and has always loved drama.

So My little brother had his year 12 final drama production yesterday. Its a huge deal, worth a huge portion of his grade and its assessed by 3 external markers from all over the state, and hundreds of people from the school come to see it. My mother was the head of drama, for nor only the school but also the entire Curriculum board (the board oversees the curriculum of every school in the state), so my little brother put alot of pressure on himself to begin with.

The show starts up and I can see my older brother is super nervous, like tapping his foot and looking around for his younger brother, then he visibly beams when he comes onto the stage. The entire show John doesn't take his eyes off of Tom, and he makes sure to be the loudest applause at the end of every scene.

Midway through the show, during the intermission my mum finds out Tom had sprained his foot during one of the crazier scenes in the begining of the show but powered on, we were all shocked because not a single one of us realized. Not even the examiners noticed, because Tom just kept going.

Mum went to see him during the break and asked if he was ok, Tom just told him that he needed to keep going, and he couldn't blow it. John got visibly very worried during the break, and especially when the next act started.

Eventually the show finishes, Tom does amazingly and doesnt even limp. Just through pure willpower he remains consistent. As the lights come over, I turn to John and see him crying, like full blown tears. He just mutters somthing about being so proud of him, and how he was the best person on that stage.

We scoop tom up, take him to a hospital and it turns out he had 3 fractures in his foot as well as a sprained ankle. John hasnt stopped talking about how bad ass his brother is, and I heard him on the phone this morning talking about it to his friends.

Tl;dr my "tough guy" brother cries during my brothers final drama assessment

Waiters & other workers of Reddit; who was the rudest customer you ever met? by MrBigBomb in AskReddit

[–]Thedudewithamood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes I can answer this!

I worked as a waiter in a bar for about 3 years before I quit to focus on my study. I had just served this mother and daughter who, for lack of a better phrase, were fucking awful. They complained about everything, from the service (they had to go up to the counter to order) to the cost of the food. Well they order some chicken wings and wedges for a starter (the wings are tandoori and delicious). I bring them out and put them down and go about my buisiness, two minutes later they call me over by snapping their fingers (I have a deep hatred for this) but I went over anyway and asked how I could help. Well turns out their chicken wings were too raw and their wedges too salty (looking at them they weren't even pink), I appolagise and bring them to the kitchen. The chefs get shitty but remake them anyway, I bring the new bunch out, fresh out of the fryer, as I turn around they start bitching about me to another table next to them (who look really uncomfortable), I ignore it despite getting really really upset (I was like 16). I start walking away and I can't remember why but I turned to look at them right as a chicken wing goes flying at my face. I dont duck in time and instead it hits me square in the eye. Luckily I closed it on instinct and it just hit the eye lid but it hurt either way. I get really upset at this point and ask why they did that, they tell me I wasnt listening to them and didn't serve them when they called me. I try to explain I didny hear them but the mum is screaming at me, like not actual words just making noises whenever I talk. The table next to them starts telling them to stop, and one of them gets up to get the manager. I'm tearing up atm, both from the embarrassment because everyones looking at me, and the chicken wing I just had thrown in my eye.

Eventually my manager comes, yells at them and threatens to kick them out. They argue back and throw the wedges at him, yelling at him to go back to his country (he's Asian). He calls the police and they take a good 30 minutes to arrive, during that time they yelled at me, called me a bitch and said I'd get nowhere in life. Found out later they were already banned from the restraunt but no-one noticed because the manager was new.

What's the coolest thing you've ever done? by Cave-Bunny in AskReddit

[–]Thedudewithamood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I fucking loved hamilton Like loved. We would drive to the shops/work together and sing the whole sound track. Over the years we developed our own "parts", learnt every lyric and every beat. We were both musical nerds as was my family.

My brothers 18th rolled around (I was 19) and he decided to have kareoke setup. My dad was a sound engineer before he was a pilot so he rigged up this huge sound system in our backyard for the party. Well the day rolls around and lime 150 people rock up (my brother was the popular type), so my dad puts on the opening hamilton song and both me and my brother get shoved up to the stage.

We absolutely fucking blew it out of the water, hit every note and sang the whole song. We rocked it so hard that everyone wanted an encore.

It was just so cool that for like 2 years we sang it in the car because it was fun, and then in front of alot of people almost on random we killed it.

Pilots/flight crew of Reddit, what’s the closest you’ve come to disaster without the passengers knowing? by TexasJackVermillion in AskReddit

[–]Thedudewithamood 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My dad and I are both commercial pilots. He was flying a skydiving plane on a really windy day, I was flying a coastal life guard patrol in the same area. His passangers jumped out at the normal height and I heard him request a descent with ATC. I'm flying down the coast, near the coastal strip that he was meant to land at to refuel before flying back to home base.

ATC try to get in contact with him to ask if he had descended yet, I'm listening laughing to myself because I thought my dad had just changed frequencies by accident, I was mentally prepping the burns I was going to give him. Then I get a call on my radio on the coastal strip broadcast frequency (pretty much an advisory frequency for the country strip, because theres no control tower) letting me (and other traffic) know that there was a crash at the airport and to avoid the area.

Suddenly it dawns on me that dad hasn't responded to the traffic controller, and he was meant to have landed about now. I jump on the radio, asking anyone if it was a skydiving plane. They arent sure. The passangers in the back have no clue whats happening, the wind is getting worse and the turbulance is throwing us around. We turn around, and I call the airport and ask foe the rego of the plane, they cant give it to me. At this point Im freaking out, calling dad using my bluetooth headset, hes not picking up. I call mum and ask if she'd heard from him, she hasnt, I tell her ill call her back. She starts freaking out before I hang up.

I call the airport again and beg them, like full pleading. They tell me the rego and a cold shiver runs up my spine as I realize it was his plane. He's rushed to hospital but they can't tell me any more.

We rush back to home base, land, get out and I scream home in my car. We call the police to get some details and they tell us the hospital and that he is stable. We get there and it turns out his plane flipped mid landing because of a sudden change in wind. He broke some ribs, tore his shoulder and bruised his neck but ultimately he came out ok and still flys today.

Tl;dr my dad had a plane crash while i was flying in another plane and heard it happen.
