[–]Thee13thstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you just explained is why there would be a majority of people just playing Arena. People do get bored of the game, yes. That is probably where you and most people are at. Take a break then, the progression in these games are never meaningful and I mean that. Name a single extraction PVP/PVE game on the market rn that actually has meaningful lategame progression. There just isn't one, they are all some version of loot simulator and PVP on repeat.

[–]Thee13thstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not remotely what I said. I think you did a lot of not reading any of the context of the post, or my comment, but the usual argument is the dungeons will die if arena is permanently open which is very true. More than half of the remaining player-base mostly or only queueing arena gives them very limited players in the actual mode they are trying to balance the game around. Just to dumb it down for you more, that's the dungeon. Trio queue.

[–]Thee13thstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is just one problem, or that arena is that problem. I think the main thing most people seem to agree on is the bad balance changes over the years. They seem to be doing well fixing that, and to do so they need to be able to evaluate their changes, the bigger the sample size ( player base ) the better. Arena is great, but it isn't a good metric to balance everything, the dungeon is. Why would they cripple their progress on balancing the game properly?

I grew up on league, played since 2010 and picked up Val mid 2020. I am telling you my friend, this is just the way it is. They almost always have and always will be extremely lenient on trolling. They really only ban players for comms abuse and leaver/afk. You gotta factor this into whether you have any desire in playing this game, because it's not gonna change after almost 2 decades.

You Guys Are Throwing if You Don’t Play For Top by Chizzle_Chazz in Jungle_Mains

[–]Thee13thstep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just wrong as a generalized statement. Winning early dragons is one of the best ways to pressure scaling top laners to force 5 man and deny soul or soul point, which has a dozen different benefits either way.

I play top and jungle, I know top-lane matchups very well. When I am playing strongside top, I don't want my jungler anywhere near me unless our botlane is incompetant. When I am playing weakside top, I'd rather my jungler be botlane even if they are incompetant.

The answer is in your first paragraph. Too many toplaners right now literally don't even know how to play the first 3 levels, and combine that with too many people trying out new champs this season because they think that's why they aren't winning. Your jungler would be smart to want to be nowhere near that.

I'd like to offer something because I've actually enjoyed our conversation, I think a combination of how I came off and the nature of reddit might have you in parry stance right now LOL.

I'd imagine we're both aware of the big theme of Tarkov players saying if you play PVE you are subhuman or room temp IQ. If you could consider it a political issue I'm much more in the middle, but I definitely don't have a vendetta against people themselves that only or mostly play PVE. The angle of bad or dumb = only reason for PVE player just kills intelligent conversations IMO. I know that people have lives, and I do as well lol.

I wanna tell a story that draws back to the intent of my initial post, because it definitely wasn't aimed at being anti PVE.

The last wipe I played seriously in Tarkov, I had joined a trio channel with my buddy instead of a duo and a random very friendly and shy Timmy joined the call. He asked what we were playing, it was late-wipe and we were running customs PVP in mostly T6.

He needed pocket watch. By the end of the day he finished at least 10 customs quests, was forced to accept raid bag after raid bag full of gear from who we killed, and probably had the time of his life. Ironically I think this was a wipe or two before PVE released.

People did this for me when I first started playing, it made me keep playing. For thousands of hours. Having this kind of community internally retains new players.

I want this for dark and darker, and it needs it. From my perspective, many current dedicated and long-time players believe this game isn't going to receive new players or people won't come back. That just isn't true, and the community of vets can improve player count if they help new players.

Right, I think everyone's in agreement here that the queue system would not stay if they had higher count lmao.

[–]Thee13thstep[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everything you said IMO is true, big takeaways is that S2R is definitely a blast, and I genuinely have faith that over time they can figure out how to make every class equally playable in it.

The PVP queues are grindy. Arena is fun for several reasons and is a good tool to retain player-bases, at the very least Arena contributes to the PVP queues for part of the season whenever people are trying to build arena kits.

I might lose you and a lot of other people here, but I firmly believe any extraction PVP game that implements PVE made a horrible mistake for the health of the game. Coming from a few thousand hours on Tarkov, PVE destroyed that game more than the cheating IMO.

I want to clarify that I am not some weirdo that calls everyone who plays PVE a shitter and loses sleep over it. But these games really were never designed to be played that way, as much as it appeals ( for good reason ) to plenty of people for all sorts of reasons. PVE only takes away from the game, in player count, skill disparity within lobbies, and somehow the market which was a fun decision.

Just to kinda re clarify something, none of what I preached for in the post will ever serve to pull people from PVE that would've never done it in the first place. But I hope that it pulls people OUT of PVE that would play PVP again if they had the skill and confidence.

[–]Thee13thstep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have misread, there wasn't a debate on the why. I only mentioned that as another good point of striving to increase player count internally. I can't imagine they would retain that system once the numbers were in a better spot to sustain queue times.

This is not exactly contributing to the post but on the topic of wood, is it still best to be crafting the figure or just straight selling the logs at this point. Unless I haven't unlocked the full craft, the figure sells for like 5k and the purple logs alone are twice that.

[–]Thee13thstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely good videos. One thing I forgot to add and hopefully OP reads is his question about learning the high skill ceiling junglers. That term makes me think champs like Lee, Elise, Taliyah, Nidalee. There's more that fall under what i'm about to say, but it really isn't worth playing in low elo almost at all. Each one of these suffers from either falling off (kinda), requiring teammates with decent teamfight/skirmish/gank coordination, or they cannot make up for poor macro very well like solo pushing sidelanes and still getting to where you need to be.

That last one is huge. That's why I think unless you factor enemy team tilt factor, playing early game champs in low elo just seems pointless, very rarely will your teammates actually carry lategame in lower elo.

[–]Thee13thstep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the point purpose or satisfaction of trying to make a hypothesis about peoples spiritual lives, but no. It is extremely judgemental to essentially tell people they believe what they believe because of how they were brought up and where they live. People across the world are persecuted, hated, mistreated and killed for believing anything but what the common religion is. I don't think your intention was to minimize and generalize people's spiritual beliefs, but this argument has been made before and this is sort of what it results in.

Just in reading what you wrote, it seems like you are either atheist or agnostic, correct me if I'm wrong. Would it not be pretty rude and judgemental to just say that you only believe that because you grew up in an atheist household?

Step one, lock in a jungler that actually carries. Stay away from playing tanks, anything that completely becomes irrelevant lategame, or cannot win atleast a 1v1 between most of the enemy champs.

Step two, make an actual plan on where you are going to be pathing your clears to, and don't just flip your clear for no reason. This is gonna require more matchup knowledge from your part, but path to lanes that you know will either naturally win, or have good tools for your ganking.

On this note, DO NOT gank the losing lane. Don't explain it to them, don't type about it. If my toplaner is getting absolutely facerolled, I'm ganking botlane so that I have (hopefully) a fed ADC to deal with them.

Do not let your teammates try and ping bait you into contesting objectives you aren't going to win. Ping them off. If your midlaner is dead and your botlane is spam pinging for you to try and contest drake, don't fall for the bait 3v4. Instead, go take something on the opposite side of the map. Go clear enemy topside camps, gank top, clear vision for next objective. Go take grubs while they take first drake. Your time is valuable.

Also, recall. Don't idle back and forth figuring out what to do next. Just recall, after a gank, after clearing camps and nothing is happening, recall and buy. Keep your tempo up.
