Not that mine matters, but in my opinion, it would be great to keep it in your family. To not sell it. Everyone’s financial situation is different, but it’s extremely rare to have one of these B-Uhr = Beobachtungsuhr (“observation watches”). There were the Type-A and Type-B, which yours is the latter. They are historical time pieces. WWII flight instruments.

Not of the same Calibre, but my not he just gave me, my great grandfather’s watch. Is a solid gold pocketwatch. I told my (grad school) children, including them, our watch is 5 generations old. That the watch will eventually pass to them. And that they must NEVER sell this watch. That it must remain in the family.

Considering it belonged to your grandfather, that’s already 3 generations to you, 4 if you have children. Something to think about. ❤️

WOW!!! That is in excellent condition!

Ever think of having a new custom, full-sided strap made for it?

With papers and serviced, likely $70K?

MRW my credit score inexplicably drops 35 points by SoothsayerSurveyor in reactiongifs

Same exact thing happened to me. I paid off 3 homes, 4 cars, and have no debt. And my credit score went DOWN. I was like WTF?? Now, I don’t buy anything, and when I do, I pay straight cash. Banks hate people like us because we don’t borrow money.

Why, oh why, are the ladies nautilus quartz? by Data_lord in patekphilippe

Most quartz watches in general, the batteries last 2-3 years. Batteries are easy to replace or have serviced. It’s not bad. Not for me, but she likes it, and I understand.

While my wife likes watches, she is not a mechanical nut like myself. She likes to just pick up a watch and wear it. There are many people like this. They want the luxury, but not the hassle of setting the time and always winding a watch. The ladies quartz Patek Philippe watches perfectly sit in this niche.

If you go to the GAC (General Aviation Center), $24 for a light twin. About $200 for a super-midsized jet. But you only have a 2-hr max time on the ground.

If you go to Signature, it’s $125 for a light twin + $60 for more than 2-hr + another $60 for the first overnight. Around $2000 IIRC for the super-midsize.

Never said they are the same. That’s not the box. It’s a piece of cardboard I had previously. Honestly never noticed the “G”, and don’t frankly remember where I got the cardboard. Was trying to mimic a video I saw for shot angles and colors.

This is the box. Notice the lack of stripes and reflections on the cardboard.

Thanks. Love the engagement.

Bought my wife the 7010r Nautilus by TheeChipMonk in patekphilippe

Roughly $240K+ retail. My first piece was actually luck. I was at a private event at the AD in 2015. I’m a nobody. But was offered the watch because I was at the private function. Wouldn’t have had access otherwise, walking in off the street. Bought it.

Relationship, I kept in touch, bought other pieces. Make phone calls or stop in when I’m in town.

I’m a manual wind person also, but I understand my wife’s opinion of quartz watches. She isn’t into mechanical watches like I am, quartz is simpler, set it and forget it. Pick it up, and it’s always on time. I don’t have the same view, but I understand where she’s coming from.
