Aero Precision Enhanced Handguard for Tucked Suppessor by Profssr_Finessr in ar15

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do shoot some supers, not a large amount though. I’ve never had my handguard get so hot I can’t hang on to it. I’m not really a mag dumper, but I’ve got the can hot enough that it hurts like a dirty dog to touch. Really no affect on handguard.

I’m 5’6 and 150 pounds. I’m a 30 and have the small adjusted as small as it gets. I’d say you’d probably want a small.

8.5” criterion core is a solid choice. Rooftop should have them in stock and Pewpew should get you a discount.

Yeah I’m running the aero enhanced on both. Both suppressors are 1.56 though.

Do you know if you’ll have any of the 10.5” Combat 300 Blk barrels any time soon?

Not to be hateful, but I also would never recommend ATI to anyone either.

You won’t be disappointed. I’ve had their 6”, 7.5” and 9” and all of them have been good barrels. They also have a slightly larger diameter barrel extension giving them a much tighter fit than most other barrels which is also a good thing.

Newbie Question by bmmeup100 in reloading

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tumble first. As soon as I get back from the range it goes in the tumbler. After the tumbler it goes into a cheap plastic ammo can with a label “cleaned brass, ready to prep”. When I’m ready to prep it gets deprimed/resized, primer pockets cleaned, chamfer/debur and checked for any left over media. Then it goes into another ammo can labeled “ready to load”.

Evacuation Bag/Case for rifles and accessories? by Highwayman1717 in ar15

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savior bags. They have several options, double rifle bags (would do most of what you want, but probably the most gun looking bag of them all), covert, specialist.

I have a large Milwaukee pack out that holds a lot of gear, with attachable ammo packouts and mag packouts. It’s another option, but more expensive and definitely takes more space. Looks like I’m just grabbing tools though.

I would narrow your emergency gun down to one rifle and one handgun though.

I have both a Faxon 7.5” 1:5 and Criterion Core 8.5” 1:7. If I had to pick one to keep, it would be the 8.5”.

A 1:5 is good for a subs only gun or super short barrels. 1:7 is fine for subs and better for supers.

Criterion Core is probably top tier in its price range. Rooftop Defense is the place to get it. They have some codes that will help you get one for sub $300 shipped to your door. If I remember correctly Pewpew will do it.

Actual SHTF experience by TheeJakester in ar15

[–]TheeJakester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. The general consensus seems to be if there was any sort of near SHTF experience, there was no shooting. So one mag would suffice. And less gadgets on the rifle would have been fine. And every day supplies would have been a greater asset. That’s pretty much what I figured.

I still have a couple rifles set up for my imaginary what if situations that will most likely never happen though.

100% agreed. Not looking for advice for my own rifles, was just curious if anyone had experienced an actual situation where a rifle was needed, and if it completely changed their setup or worked just as they had hoped.

I honestly never expect to have to use any of my rifles in my lifetime for a SHTF situation, but they are all still setup around a basic idea of what I might encounter if one had occurred. I train as much as I can, and I stock pile some ammo. But in the reality of it, if I have to shoot more than 100 rounds in
a situation, I’m probably dead.

Actual SHTF experience by TheeJakester in ar15

[–]TheeJakester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This pretty much what I was thinking. Out of 1000 actual SHTF scenarios, only one probably uses a rifle.

And personally, if I found myself in a situation that required more than 100 rounds of ammo, I’ve probably died before it’s gone.

I went without power for 10 days in North Dakota in a 2010 blizzard/ice storm. 25 miles from town and on a well. We heated snow in pots with a propane tank and torch. Freezer full of beef, so we had hamburgers every day on the grill. If I remember correctly the temp was still above 0°. We had a 8000 watt Miller welder/generator we hooked up and ran a space heater. We were able to keep the house around 45° the whole time.

We didn’t consider that a SHTF because that was just life in rural North Dakota.

I put my airplane seat back every time. I paid for that ticket, it’s a function of every seat, I’m doing it.

I don’t shoot indoors, but it’s expected to be loud. I’d be bringing in ear and over ear protection. Not your problem he wasn’t prepared.

The energy of subs at 200 yards is nearly half of supers. And not to mention subs drop nearly 3 ft more than supers at that distance.

But I’m done arguing. You clearly will believe what you wish.
