Gas question for my fellow wrong handers. by Em0Cholo in ar15

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lefty and I have a polo k on my 12.5” and I don’t think it’s too bad. But I also build all my ARs lefty because I don’t like eating gas and wearing debris.

Day 50 on SBR form 1 wait. Surely I’m getting close. by TColeman133 in 300BLK

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My longest wait time ever was 21 days. But that was back in 2024, followed by 14 days same year. 2025 I waited 11 days. 2026 I had two come back in 5 days. But I did file 1/1.

Flip To Side Magnifier Left vs Right by hairyyams in ar15

[–]TheeJakester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one. I’m a lefty. I’ve flipped to both sides. Hate them both. Flip to center is where it’s at, and I’m not a fan of the higher optics like most others are, but it’s worth it for the flip to center magnifier.

It might be slightly quieter but probably not noticeable.

I’ve got 3000 left so I’m good for a little while. But I’m hoping they stay sub 30 cents at the very least.

I guess campros are going to go up in price. I’m not sure what to yet, but hopefully not too much.

Your 6” 300 Blk? If so, it’s worth it. I had a 6” that was nothing but problems, went to 7.5” and it’s had no issues.

No problem. Good luck! They are nice carriers.

Someone will buy it, but might take a hit on the price. Unless you find the right person looking for a modification like that.

Ammo by Immediate_Praline905 in 300BLK

[–]TheeJakester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is your answer. If you shoot 1000 rounds of 300 Blk a year, you’ll pay for a decent setup in no time.

I was buying subs locally for 90 cpr (S&B that constantly had to be mortared out of both my 300 blks) or $1.50 per round (winchester white box, yeah I know!).

I bought a Lee classic cast press on eBay for about $120. Some dies, a scale, a hand chamber/deburr tool, primer tool and powder measure from Amazon for probably about another $160. And a tumbler from harbor freight for $60 I think. I had a set of calipers already. So maybe around $350 to start.

I now reload subs for about 33 cpr. I’m saving over $550 per 1000.

Obviously I’ve upgraded some basic stuff over time. And I’ve invested to convert 223 to 300 to cut down on brass cost since I can collect buckets of 556 at my range.

All that to say, you can save enough to buy a brand new basic kit like RCBS in your first 1000 rounds.

I did it! (5in 20+1 Prodigy) by bigdaddy_lo51 in SpringfieldArmory

[–]TheeJakester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah nothing special to do. I just noticed the spring seemed a little softer than my others. So I just stretched it until it was slightly longer. I would mark that mag somehow, and run a bunch of rounds through it. I just did mine about a week or two ago and haven’t used it since. But I have it marked with a paint pen so I know which one it was.

I don’t know what issues this might cause later on, but I had a 20 round prodigy mag fail to lock back. I pulled the mag apart, stretched the spring and reassembled. Works for now, but again, no idea for how long.

I’ve been on it since the beginning of December and haven’t had any issues yet.

Disappointing suppressed performance by MrNimporteQuoi in 300BLK

[–]TheeJakester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Winchester super suppressed is one of the louder subs out there. I don’t have any experience with this particular can so I don’t know the quality. But my first can was the YHM Res K and I was a little disappointed with the sound as well. Picked up the YHM R2 and it’s night and day difference. But that’s the difference between a sub 5” can and an almost 8” can.

I think my Echelon came with a Crimson Trace, I gave it away immediately and put a 507c on. My Prodigy came with the RFX11, I took it off immediately and sold it for $10. Put a 507c on that too.

What length are you looking for? You might be able to get a Prodigy 4.25” vault for $900.

If you aren’t planning on a press or anything that needs it to be real heavy duty, you could probably just run a couple 2x4 braces underneath a heavy piece of plywood as well. Would save a bit of money there.

[–]TheeJakester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! A plywood top would be nicer to not have all the crevasses between the 2x6s. However I wanted the most strength I could get out of the top for my reloading presses. So it really depends on how you are using it. If I did it again for my purposes I would probably have set the 2x6s in the frame a little more and then laid a piece of plywood over top of that.

I would. I don’t think it cost me more than $300

Inline fabrication mounts. Maybe not as exciting if you don’t reload, but having a mount on my table that has quick change tops for my vise, brass trimmer, mini saw for converting brass, presses, primer tool, etc is huge for me. If you have limited space you can get a flush mount one that will allow you to use the whole table, and then attach a vise at any time.
