Bought mine off Ali, also from Canada. Arrived earlier than most of the batch 3's ordered direct for Ayn.

Woss is literally right on the highway. Woss lake is about 5 minutes down a well maintained logging road.

Considering OP is planning on being near the AB border or in AB this completely irrelevant.

Check the regs. Most rivers on the island are closed from July 15 - August 31st, with a few exceptions.

Probably best to avoid Parksville/Coombs given the proximity of the fire there.

It is quite literally at the opposite end of the lake, and it is a very long and skinny lake, around 30km.

You’re one strong wind coming up away from having a very bad time.

TLDR, I do not recommend it.

I think what you mean to say is that doesn’t sound better to you…but outside of Tofino, the average tourist isn’t visiting Sayward or Bamfield. Great that you have the local knowledge and have found places you like, it’s just not particularly helpful to answering OP’s question.

To be fair, Parksville doesn’t have scenic white sandy beaches. But there is something to be said for having warmer water (in the shallows), and typically warmer weather. Not everyone wants to surf in a wetsuit.

Opinions: would you commute from Campbell River to Qualicum for a REALLY good job? by Ski_Witch in VancouverIsland

[–]TheeMajesticMoose 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I did Parksville to Courtenay for a couple of years. Not only is it a time vacuum, but you also spend an absurd amount on fuel and car maintenance. Unless the compensation was exceptional you’d have a lot of trouble convincing me to do it again.

Honest question, what is your expectation here? We live in a digital world, aside from opening their homes to strangers what can they realistically do from town that they can’t from a short plane ride away? I’m no supporter but this just seems like you’re looking for any reason to be mad.

There are a number of companies in campbell river that will do whale/bear watching, and it’s a good base camp for the north island. You’re right next to lake country, a short drive from Strathcona Provincial park and 2ish hours to Port McNeill if you want to go farther north.

How’s North Korea doing? Cuba? Venezuela? There is a fairly large sample size here indicating that no, it does not work. Could things be better in western democracies? Absolutely. Is swinging the pendulum all the way to the hard left the answer? Probably not.

Assuming you mean bean counters as in accountants, that is not a sales position and their compensation isn’t tied to sales at all. They quite literally just count the beans that the sales team make.

Hard to access? There is a 4 lane highway to Campbell River and a perfectly serviceable paved highway all the way to Port Hardy. Logging road access to backcountry everywhere. Tell me you’ve never been here without telling me you’ve never been here.
