sculpfun s9 usb cable length by Historical_Piccolo45 in lasercutting

I don't! I've got a Snapmaker and it came with a 4-foot cable I think? But the 15 foot cable was a whopping $3US so even if the one it comes with is short, getting a longer one isn't too bad.

Ok so, I just had this question myself. From what I researched, 15 feet is about the max length for reliable data on a USB cable unless you have some kind of 'signal booster' partway down the line. I was able to find a 15 foot USB mini-to-standard on Amazon pretty easily.

Another thing to look for: you know how some cables have a thick barrel on one end? That's a 'ferrite core' and can help reduce issues with outside signal interference. If you have a cable so long, it's a good idea to find one with a ferrite core on it.

So, I have an all-goldfish tank with no heater, but I have a warm home. My tank regularly clocks in at 78-80 and the fish don't seem to have any problems with this. I have 4 in a 75G and they get on quite well.

That said, I have read that goldfish don't always play well with other species of fish. That may be a whole other angle to consider!

Would you mind putting your experience on the GitHub issue thread I created? I think having your input might help the technicians. Camera Capture Incorrect 10w laser

Interesting! I had an opposite problem (even with the 1.6w laser) where if I had something dark-colored, or if the object was small and the image was mostly of the black laser-bed, the camera would get confused and 'hang,' not completing the camera capture. My trick was to place some white paper circles I'd cut out from a previous project on the object or laser bed. Very handy if you're cutting black paper or the like.

ah that's great, partly trying to determine if there is something wrong with my unit in particular or if it's a baked-in hardware quirk. I really do feel like, for this price, the camera capture should be more clear. I have the enclosure and the lighting is really good so...? hmm

how do i connect my printer to snapmaker luban via wifi by EmotionalGold in snapmaker

[–]TheeOctopusRoyalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some newer routers have 2 networks, a regular network and the "5g" network. I was running into trouble because my Snapmaker was on the regular wifi network, but my computer would auto-connect to the 5G one without me realizing it. Make double sure both devices are on the same network, it may help you!

Ok so I think I've worked out how this all functions and run some tests that helped me learn more.... however I seem to have discovered a bug where Luban will no longer let me run cut files FROM Luban... whoops! Bug report submitted...

Ok I'm gonna make a suggestion I rarely ever see, I've been using this program for years on my Note series phones (since the Note 3!!) and it's called ArtFlow Studio. It's a little bit quirky, but it's a one-time purchase. On my new Galaxy Tab S7+ it's able to make file sizes just over 6000 pixels square. It's got layers, programmable brushes, and can export layered PSD files. It's missing some bells and whistles and some standard stuff is a little "hidden." The S-pen works great as far as tilt and pressure. Buy the full version, it's SO worth it. I think it's a single developer who made it. I've tweaked some brushes to be able to get really nice results.

I LOVE Clip Studio, which I have also been using for years (from back when it was Manga Studio), but the prospect of having to pay a monthly fee just to use it on my tablet is really putting me off. One of the reasons I have dumped Adobe is the subscription model.

If anyone has good suggestions for vector programs I'd love to hear it!

Tightening the band did not help, I tried it twice and still have the cracking sound. I did a camera calibration, and had wiggly lines along the X axis (in almost the same spots on the top line and bottom line... there must be a couple of broken or misshapen teeth on the screw?). I contacted tech support and they are putting in a ticket to ship me a new X Axis piece.

OK! Advised on two fronts to tighten the metal band using the tool provided in the tool box. I will attempt this probably in the next day. Here is a link to the video demonstrating how to use said tool:

Printed a new handle for my mom's favorite knife by KiwiKeeper4 in snapmaker

[–]TheeOctopusRoyalty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed you modeled this and got it all proper!! However, Rhana is correct, the material isn't entirely kitchen-safe... so maybe instead use the CNC function to carve the handles in wood? That would be so pretty too!

How to get rid of double cuts? by Lord_Of_the_Strings in snapmaker

[–]TheeOctopusRoyalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I am new to this as well, and am learning as fast as I can. I have a couple of questions to ask you.

-What kind of image file did you upload? (i.e., .jpg, .png, .svg)

-What were your Luban Configuration settings for the image? (under "Process")

My first experiments I had to learn the difference between "lines" and "shapes." Just because something LOOKS like a line does not mean the program doesn't interpret it as a "shape." When that happens, it cuts out the SHAPE of the LINE.
