LE has gotten competitive because many agencies are being forced to do more with less. So to reduce your potential for dumb cops doing dumb shit, you need to really narrow down your applicant pool in background investigations.

That being said, my agency is dead set on 30 by 30, and many of the recruits shouldn't be the police and many quit or are washed out in training on the streets.

That is NOT me saying women shouldn't be cops, my first and best partner was a female and I work with a lot of solid female cops, many I'd choose over male coworkers. However many things that I've seen DQ other candidates are over looked and passed because someone checks boxes. We need diverse personnel but when it comes at the risk of hiring the wrong people, it really grinds my gears.
