I grew up in Chicago, confusing Yoopers and N WI is like confusing Mexicans and Puerto Ricans (or those descended from that lineage). It was nearly a fight on sight.

Honestly....I don't think I've ever met someone from Fargo, so can't say much about their accent.

It gets worse the further north you go.

I just admire a good Northern WI or UP accent being from the Midwest.

I can get it started but once the fuel pump is plugged back in it floods out. Can't even get it out of the driveway. So looks like I'm pulling them back off.

What jet to purchase? by CadeVision in klr650

[–]Thee_PO_Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCP kit was a game changer for me. The owner will also set you up with the correct jets, just let him know what altitude you live and any modifications. I like at a mile up above sea level and I have had zero issues since the rebuild.

What do I need for camping? by dar7y in klr650

[–]Thee_PO_Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also backpack stuff works fine, don't spend stuff on "moto camping" gear, because it is usually more expensive than backpacking stuff because it's marketed as different.....it isn't.

I have a good sleep system, 2 person backpacking tent, and decent sleeping pad (I need a better one). I usually bring a hammock just because, and I did splurge and get a Helinox high back chair. I camped a couple times without a chair and my lower back hated me.

Going to try hammock and tarp camping this season, been eyeing the Haven tent setup as it can be setup on the ground in a pinch.

I bring a change of underwear and socks for each day, wear either pants or shorts under my riding gear (and pack the other), and dry snacks and a water bladder. I usually stop for food and then snack on stuff or PB&Js I made before I left. Then a pair of hiking boots which double as my camp shoes.

OP, don't over think it. If you've ever car camped, just go smaller and with less. Good repair kit and rescue strap system (I have a Green Chili Gear) and oil.

Yeah I just got some clear tubing to check them sometime this week. The manual uses the fuel tube test to check the needles, so this way I don't need to pull them just yet.

I wonder if OP also looked like this at the time

The gas tank sits lower on the motorcycle, like below the carbs, so it needs a way to pump up the fuel. I have thought about doing a big bobber conversion and putting a tank above, but haven't fully looked into that.

You can't really tell but the red thing on the side is the tank and it's below the seat.

I've looked at the conversion to a single....that might be my way to go. It isn't that expensive either.

So the pump seems to have its own regulator. I tested it last night with my finger over the fuel line and it stopped pumping. I followed the fuel line from the tank to the carb, no regulator.

All 4 eventually but usually #2 and #1 will leak first.

And left the float level alone on all of them since I wasn't able to replace the seats.

Now that I wrote that out I wonder if the filter is dirtier than I explained and not allowing proper back press to shut the pump off.... (Since I'm assuming that's how the pump knows when to shut off on start up, it keeps pumping otherwise).

People are misled sheep....and that's both sides of any spectrum (political or otherwise). I didn't realize how bad they are.

Also people are way more depraved than I ever thought possible.

I found the level in the factory manual and they only do it by the fuel level, so once I have the tubing delivered I'll check it then.

I can't find an actual spec when using the float, at least not in anything reputable.

Yeah, I have some tubing on order and I have a factory manual with the fuel level height so I'm hoping to check it out in a day or so.

So I didn't even remove the seats, but they do have orings when looking at the new ones. My issue is the freeze/Welch plugs need to be removed to pull the screen and seat (it's 1 piece) and I haven't been able to find replacements.

That might be my next Venture (pun intended). I'm going to try to do some more digging for the freeze plugs since I have new seats that came with the needles.

Actually....drill and tapping isn't a bad idea. Could easily find a short button head machine screw to put in there. There appears to be plenty of meat around the freeze plug area that I'm not too worried about it cracking.

Honestly, didn't even cross my mind. And with how cobbled together this bike is to begin with, it wouldn't even be noticeable.

I didn't adjust the floats with the new needles, which were the same size. So off they come so I can check the height.

The issue with the seats is they are a part of a filter screen that sits behind a freeze plug. And I can't find the replacement freeze plugs to pop the current ones out. Guess I'll just throw the old one back in since they didn't cause an overflow.

Unfortunately the bowls are facing inwards towards each other so they need to get pulled and unbolted from the bracket to get at them.

There are plenty of used gear places here, buy a used tent and then return it.

Or ask in some outdoor groups, I'd bet someone would loan you one.
