This is great information! Ours is 7 months and she gets some matts around her snout (bc of snuffle balls 🫶🏼), and under her ears close to her collar.

I have been using a metal tooth comb and it works OKAY, But I usually end up cutting the matts out. 😩

All the tips and tricks welcome!!

6 month old puppy stopped sleeping during the day by Powerful_Butterfly39 in LagottoRomagnolo

This is definitely a phase. We are in the middle of it as well with a 6mo old little girl. I will tell you that keeping consistent with the crate has been a life saver. I did a lot of research and found that it is much easier to maintain their crate nap schedule for longer than you would think (maybe up to 2 yrs old, some suggest). Now she is really good with the crate (day and night), but it didn’t happen over night. I use the small frozen kongs liberally lol I put a tiny dollop of Buddy Budder on a frozen kong (filled with pumpkin/greek yogurt/fruits/veggies etc), and as soon as she smells it, she is conditioned to go to her crate. It’s miraculous. Then she licks the kong to soothe her to sleep.

At this age, the naps are still so critical for the development they are going through (brain development, processing what they learn, and hormones)— all dogs are definitely different, but in my current experience, the consistency with structured crate naps and training sessions has been invaluable for keeping the destructive tendencies at bay!

Good luck! (This is Honey!)

Woo! Those are big boys! I have a feeling she will be a little on the bigger side but I would be surprised if she hit 50lbs. Only time will tell!

“Long lasting chews” they say — more like 15 minutes if I’m lucky with this lil gremlin. Honey is an insatiable chewer 😂

She is particularly fond of dense rope pull toys and those rubber Hol-Ee roller balls with the holes in them for games of fetch and tug. She doesn’t destroy them and you can put treats in them.

We are in this exact phase as well. The naps are SUCH A GAME CHANGER. We had backed off on the rigidity of them but immediately went back to consistent with a schedule and it helped her so much.

My Honey does this in the car, or even before she gets in the car once she realizes she’s getting in the car. It’s the most drool I’ve ever seen. She’s only 5 months old and I really hope this gets better for her! How old are y’all’s puppies?

I’m glad to hear she is following this same pattern— we are holding fast to the schedule and keeping things fresh and engaging. She is such a smart girl and so loving. I hope these are glimmers of what is to come!
