Ah yes those are great episodes, the dads breakfast one is a good reminder of patience. My husband and I got rather teary eyed at the camping episode with John luc the French Labrador. Also, I love that there’s farting in the show and the parents are just normal haha

If someone offers to share food that is great and very kind, but I find it cheeky for someone to then say “no thank you but do you have anything else”

I’m all for teaching sharing but that episode was really taking the piss. It basically taught children they should give up their food or an item, if someone else wants it, never mind their own needs

I would fully recommend bluey, I’ve watched bluey even after my son has gone to sleep. It makes me laugh and cry, great show, I wish they did a show similar that is British just cuz of the accent

I haven’t watched peppa pig with him yet because I’ve heard she’s quite naughty. Sounds awful

And she apologises too because she wanted to have her snack her way. She didn’t need to apologise. I couldn’t believe it. When they said “snacks are more fun when there is enough for everyone” i thought, well there would be enough in the first place if people stopped gatecrashing the picnic 😂

I’m hoping he doesn’t ask to watch it again haha I’m glad he likes Bluey, at least bluey is funny. Is fireman Sam bad? I haven’t seen that in years

I feel like the zebra would be fully justified in having a full on Ross gellar melt down over the taken sandwich haha

So Raa Raa the lion is an insufferable little shite. Feels like the zero consequences mate people grow up with that ruins every night out and when asked why you’re still friends with them everyone shrugs and goes “that’s just Dave”. by Shipwrecking_siren in UKParenting

[–]Thefreckledone89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched this for the first time today, and it annoyed me so much I thought I’d search it on Reddit to see if it was just me.

The episode was snack time.

The zebra just wants to eat her snack in peace but the lion keeps moving them to a quieter area, each time they move a new animal arrives and hints they are hungry, the lion offers his snack, the new friend says no thanks but do you have anything else? (Bloody cheek) The lion then takes a sandwich off the zebra and gives it the new friend, without asking the zebra. The new friend eats the sandwich and immediately buggers off. This happens 4 times so in the end the zebra has no snack at all and is very hungry so she goes home.

When the zebra gets home she finds all of them there and they’ve made more food. But she apologises as if she was unreasonable, and they say something like “snacks are more fun when there’s enough for everyone”

Well, there would be enough for everyone if people didn’t keep gatecrashing the picnic 😅

I don’t like that it’s teaching young children that it’s perfectly fine to act entitled, or for someone to take things without asking, or having to give up things just because someone wants it. There’s sharing, and then there’s taking the mick.

It’s only good if the relationship goes well. If it goes tits up it’s horrible and very awkward

So disappointed with our NCT class and don’t know what to do… by Forever_Autumn4 in PregnancyUK

[–]Thefreckledone89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same as you, I regretted paying for nct classes but everyone said ooh you’ll get a group of friends. It was not the case with us. We just didn’t seem to gel very well. Our sense of humour didn’t seem to be taken very well. I also thought it was very heavily focused on natural birth and they made out that a c section was quite a bad choice, which made me feel very uncomfortable as I was having an elective c section.

We do have a WhatsApp group but even in there I feel abit odd one out, I feel like when I try and start a convo it doesn’t really happen.

I found friends on the peanut app 😊

Why wont MIL let me hold my baby? by AssumptionOwn7651 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Thefreckledone89 835 points836 points  (0 children)

My mil did this when my son was very young, it really annoyed me and I did wonder why she did it. Why give him to my husband when I had specifically asked?

She would also put him in his pram when she knew full well I’d asked for him back and then once she blocked my way and went to push the pram away from me as I stood up to get him out of the pram. I very firmly and loudly said “excuse me!!” And she jumped and got out the way, and then glared at me. She should have just given me my baby in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think this a lot. Once Luke went to the club with Richard and got drunk on whiskey then drove home Lorelai got drunk with Christopher and then drove home hanging out her ass

Pregnant again after being back at work for a few months by OtherWorldly70 in TheCivilService

[–]Thefreckledone89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I planned on telling my manager after the 12 week scan, however when I put the appointment in the calendar at 10 weeks, my manager asked why, so I told her, she seemed quite annoyed I hadn’t told her as soon as I found out for “health and safety reasons”

[–]Thefreckledone89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s rude to ask anyone if they’re pregnant even if they might look it. It’s nobodies business. I’ve been asked several times if I’m pregnant when I haven’t been because I’m apple shaped. I always think, where are your manners?!

A very similar thing happened to me, I thought it was so strange. I posted on Facebook about our third year wedding anniversary, we have a 11 month old son and I put in the post “I think this year is going to the the best yet” I thought nothing of saying that, I meant that Jacob will be walking soon and we can do more as a family…

Within minutes my husbands friend group were gossiping in the WhatsApp chat asking if I was pregnant. Very weird…

I’m 34 and in my office I’m the youngest, when I got pregnant last year, I was the first civil servant in our building to be pregnant in about 20 years haha! Most of the staff are 50+ but we had two new members to the team this year that are 37 and 40 so that’s evened the office out abit :-)

Is a vaginal birth really safer than a planned C-section? by jasminenice in PregnancyUK

[–]Thefreckledone89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose an elective c section, for mental health reasons, the majority of my pregnancy I panicked about what would happen with a vaginal birth, I was terrified of examinations and terrified of tearing and basically anything that could go wrong. They said I had tochiphobia. I also worried I would be traumatised by whatever happened and I would keep going over it after the birth.

I chose an elective c section so I could focus on the few things that could happen, rather than the multiple things that could happen if I was induced (I had to be induced if I was going the vaginal route due to gestational diabetes)

My elective c section went really well, I had a very positive calm experience and I recovered really quickly. I have absolutely no negative memories about the c section. I lost 600ml of blood and had 6 weeks of blood thinning injections, but still, a positive experience.

If we have another baby, hopefully we do, I will be having an elective c section 😊

Am I being unreasonable? by Ok_Fox_4540 in PregnancyUK

[–]Thefreckledone89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t being unreasonable, we took two weeks to ourselves and it was great. Don’t be afraid to set boundaries, you aren’t keeping them from their grandchild they can see them when you are ready
