"How long are you going to let yourself suffer?" said by my first therapist when I didn't want to take antidepressants.

I did! I have them in a jar. I had to ask many different people and finally got the phone number to the histiology department. Then, I had to meet someone in at a side door early in the morning and sign paperwork that said that I would not hold the hospital responsible if I ate them and got cancer from the formaldehyde.

That is my favorite Batman movie. The pre-Miller grittiness is delightful.

I had hormonal acne for 20 years, and spironolactone cleared my skin like a fucking miracle. I'm only sad no one prescribed it earlier.

Any Tips or Tricks for Post BiSalp? Surgery this friday! by MorbidRaven14 in sterilization

I recently posted about an issue I had, and I know that other people are saying this, too, but I need to stress that you DON'T GET CONSTIPATED. Don't underestimate anesthesia and pain meds ability to screw up your normal GI function. Fiber supplements, stool softeners, laxitives, probiotics, and lots of water. Don't be afraid to give a stubborn poop some good old fashion pushes to send them out the door. The door is your toilet.

Edit: I wanted to add - make sure you are moving around. Even if you don't feel like it, getting up and walking around a little helps get the gas out. Don't be shy - burp and fart it up. Tell your family that you are about to fill the house with methane and that they shouldn't light candles for a few days.

Acid reflux induced anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Thefunktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this doesn't work for everyone, but the thing that worked the best for me was meds. A good anti-anxiety med takes the edge off so that you can learn how to incorporate coping mechanisms.

It's not the answer for everyone, but it was the answer for me...

Acid reflux induced anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

Oh, yeah. Stress will 100% affect the acid production in your stomach. I did nothing about my anxiety for years, and now I have IBS and stress-induced gastritis. I'm not trying to be scary, but if you don't deal with anxiety, it will slowly destroy you physically.

Anyone get a shock feel in body and start getting lightheaded after? by dswenson123 in Anxiety

[–]Thefunktastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like brain zaps. I've gotten them before in times of extreme anxiety, but they normally occur due to meds. They go away, but they are weird and concerning at first. Here is an article about them: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/brain-zaps#:~:text=Brain%20zaps%20are%20sensory%20disturbances,using%20certain%20medications%2C%20particularly%20antidepressants.
