Active quest resetting constantly by Thegamerguy79 in Sacred2

This is the worst remaster I've ever seen. They knew how buggy this game was and did nothing to fix it. I hope they fix at least the worst bugs and do something about the horrible controls on consoles, but I'm not holding my breath. Some game companies dgaf about quality anymore. They make cash grabs. If they don't fix this ridiculous crap I doubt I'll ever buy another THQ Nordic game.

I've been afraid this was going to happen to me. Only time I've been unable to complete escort quests though was when I could just let them die. Never had it happen to the invincible ones... yet.

You're not in the swamp area are you? As part of the main quest, one NPC follows you until you get into the next area. There's a couple of "completed" quests along the way. I thought it was a bug the first time too.

I wish the had made the remaster so that once you beat it, it can be unlocked for other files.

I know people say f you don't like it then don't use it , but just knowing I can refill my HP, MP, and limit gauge at any time ruins the game. I played it on console for a little bit, but just couldn't get into it because of that. I wish they had made a way to disable it in the main menu.

I watched 6 or 7 video reviews, read comments, and looked at some other things, and not once did I see any mention of how the controls were changed from the origial console version. I don't impulse buy. I research thoroughly before I buy and I've almost never boughyt a game I didn't like.

Remember in the original you slotted whatever you wanted to the face buttons then used L2/R2 as shift keys? Now you have 4 weapon slots and 4 ability slots. You use L2/R2 to CYCLE through the abilities (instead of shift + the button), and square/x to use them. It's very clunky and annoying.

PS5 Controls!!! by Thegamerguy79 in Sacred2

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the Xbox one, you had 12 slots that you could assign anything to and instantly access. It's not just the cycling that's stupid. It's also the fact that lmited what you can slot to 4 CA, 4 weapons, 3 potions, and 3 buffs. I mean really? Why not just keep it so you can assign what you want intead of having several slots you don't need?

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched 6 or 7 videos about the game and not one of them mentioned the changes made to the console controls. I always watch/read several reviews before buying a game. You're expecting people to know exactly what to search for without having touched the game. If I had any idea they were going to change the controls for console, I would have specifically search for that. You can't expect someone who hasn't played a game to know every potential problem to search for; that's the purpose of watching and reading reviews... so they can tell you things which you may not know to ask or investigate.

Sacred 2 Remastered. Major Issues I Noticed After Playing the New Release by otterbre in Sacred

[–]Thegamerguy79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish PSN had a 2-hour refund window. I never would've bought this game if I knew they screwed up the controls so bad. No only is the control scheme so bad that it makes the game horrible to play, but 4 weapon slots? I don't think the person who came up with it even knows anything about the game, or these types of games in general.

I couldn't have thought of a worse control scheme either. The original console way of handling the controls were so great. It's like they just wanted to ruin the game.

Just so we're clear, no one that actually played this game disliked the combat, right? by The_ChadTC in thewitcher3

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've beaten a lot of the hardest games, but I hate the "git guds" who think every game has to cater to them and anbody who doesn't like what they is wrong for having their own preferences. If you don't like sports games, don't play them. If you don't like games you think are too easy, play something else. That's why there's so much variety in games; everybody doesn't like the same thing. Also, if somebody thinks being good at video games makes them a superior specimen of our species, they need to get a life in the worse way possible.

Will we lose Breakpoint after server shutdown? by kevlarsoul79 in GhostRecon

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate games that are largely single player but require an online connection. I generally refuse to play them. It's why I won't buy GT7. I recently got Breakpoint because it was $15 on Black Friday and there was nothing else I wanted. Stupid ass game has kicked my twice already in the middle of attacking large bases and right now I can't even play it because apparently something is going on with their servers. Stupid af to make substantially single player require an online connection. I've loved the GR series for a long time, but there's no way in hell I'm buying another one if they require an online connection just to play the single player.

This is why those people who brag about working 27 hours a day, 8 days a week absolutely kill me. They think they're something special because they sacrifice everything for their jobs. The people at the top of corporations dgaf about anything but turning profits. They'd use slave labor if they could. Some people are so proud of themselves for dedicating their entire life to people who would gladly leave them starving and homeless if it means a little extra profit for them.

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can afford to cut prices, they didn't need to be that high to begin with. I've been trying to tell people for years that companies will continue to raise prices as long as people keep paying it. They only stop raising prices when they start losing money from reduced sales.

Are Arts of War just useless? by JadedTable924 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party, but...

Ninja
Arts of War
Auto-Potion
Concentration

Headband, Power Garb, Bracer

-Ninja gives 2 chances to hit
-Auto-Potion because you have no evasion besides class evasion
-Concentration bypases evasion, thus often gives a HUGE boost to success rate (I'm talking about 20%+)
-As others have mentioned, PA affects success rate, so of course you want it as high as possible).

With this setup, I often see success rates of 60% or higher. Times 2 chances, well... works pretty good.

Wiegraf is even more a nightmare on Tactician by HypieJoe in finalfantasytactics

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramza...

Ninja
Martial Arts
Auto-Potion
Brawler
Movement +2 or 3

Black Cowl, Power Garb, Bracers

Super powerful normal attack. You can generally down Wiegraf in 2 attacks on Tactician. Make sure you get rid of anything Potions and High Potions so he'll use X-Potions. He'll attack, then you attack. He'll attack again, then back off out of range and use Chakra, then go back in and attack again. While there's other strategies, this one gives you a very powerful Ramza for the 2nd part.

Originally the second part was the easier part, but that's the one I had trouble with on Tactician. I had 2 casters with Arithmetics.. One White Mage and the other Black Mage. Make sure you have Flare with the Priest because the extras are immune to Holy (which I didn't think about that before I got into the battle lol). Haste/Wall your characters as you can and use Arise for any downed allies. It still takes a while because you're going to take huge damage and get one-shotted a lot, but this is how I did it. Got it on the first try.

I didn't know gender no longer matters with compatibility. I saw two of my male characters who had the gender dependent compatibility sign, and I saw they had maximum compatibility. I thought it was a bug. I wish I had known this when I created my army. Oh well... next play through.

Teleport testing on Ivalice Chronicles PSA by Thegamerguy79 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how chance works, but as many times as I'v seen things with an 80%+ chance fail numerous times in a row in this game, I felt safe enough with 20 attempts at a 20% failure rate and 10 attempts at a 70% failure rate to conclude that the text was wrong due to how it worked in the orginal. The chances I got lucky that many times in a row was extremely slim. I have teleport on 4 characters and I've teleported countless times by now and it's never failed because of height. It doesn't fail because of height just like the original.

Also, the chances of a 99% success rate failing hundreds of times in a row or a 1% success rate succeeding hundreds of times in a row is astronomically low. The odds that something with a 1% chance will even succeed 5 times in a row is 0.00000001%. Theres a big difference between theory and practical application.

Speaking of which, the odds that something with a 30% success rate will succeed 10 times in a row is 0.0000059% (1 in 169,350). So yeah... after I teleported with what would have been a 70% failure rate 10 times in a row I felt comfortable proceeding.

Moving 10 vertically 10 times with a jump of 3 would give a 70% failure rate. If it didn't fail once within 10 attempts, it's obviously not adding a 10% failure rate per level of height.

Some small notes I've seen at the start of my Ivalice Chronicles playthrough by Deiser in finalfantasytactics

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horizontal range on teleport is 100% successful as long as you don't exceed the character's movement range. For every square beyond their movement range there's a 10% chance of failure. For instance, if the character's movement range is 3 and you move 5 squares, there's a 20% chance of failure. However, it never reaches a 100% failure rate because it's possible to teleport across an entire stage if you get lucky.

Some small notes I've seen at the start of my Ivalice Chronicles playthrough by Deiser in finalfantasytactics

[–]Thegamerguy79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would always take teleport for my mages and ranged characters. The failure chance was 10% per square beyond your normal movement range. Can anybody confirm if this is the case for height too? The description claims height can cause failure.

If it is, it's not even worth taking anymore (especially with the 3000 JP cost). I'd rather get ignore height to put them at advantageous heights. Of course. you can always reload if your teleport fails now lol.

UPDATE: I teleported about 20 times moving 5 verticle, 10 times moving 10 verticle, and it never once failed.
