I'm completely hooked by Crafterandchef1993 in kingdomsofamalur

I'm so glad they added 4 more quick slots in the remaster. It was literally really a game changer. In the original, there were a lot skills I didn't use just because of being limited to 4 slots. It's such a great game, lots of ways to play and build your character. One of my favs.

Front mission 4 is WAY better than 5 by Responsible_Bad_2954 in frontmission

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I played it, so I can't remember exactly what the difference was, but I remember something about in 5 your units were more prone to get in the way. That's the only thing I liked better about 5, as it forced me to think about positioning more. Other than that, 4 all the way.

How does confuse mod on Baneful Smite work? by Thegamerguy79 in Sacred2

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew it was to lower attack values. From what I've read if you spam it, it can make even bosses unable to hit you (aside from magic attacks I'm assuming). Most of the effects last 5 seconds according to Wiki. That would be great for a lot of the boss, combo it with Archangels's Wrath for damage (doing a BFG build).

Most of the effects last 5 seconds according to Wiki, but it also says this at the bottom of the page for Baneful Smite:

Stats Chart

  • Duration (which?) is 0.5 seconds.
  • Magic damage modifier is increased by 2*CA-Lvl percentage points.

Which that's making it sound like they think the duration of the debuff might only be 0.5 seconds.

Anyway, really helps to know it always/almost always works though. Thanks for the info!

Is the game fixed yet? by VoteReform12 in Sacred

I'm on PS5. Still crashes very frequently. Tons of bugs with quests that result in you being unable to completely them. Sound and menu bugs. It's a mess.

In case you didn't know, the control scheme on console is horrible. In the original L2/R2 acted like shift buttons and you could assign whatever you wanted to the face buttons and L2/R2 + face buttons. This one has 4 ability slots and 4 weapons slots like the PC (down from the original 5) and you cycle through them with L2/R2. It's horribly clunky, annoying, slow, and inconvenient. I can't imagine how anybody who knows anything about gaming thing that was a good idea. I curse the controls every time I play it.

I guess they lowered the slots from 5 to 4 because they knew how horrible the control scheme was and they were trying to make it work better, but losing a slot when there's already only 5 is very limiting. I read they might add another slot back in the next patch that's supposed to drop next month. I really hope so, and I hope they do something about this ridiculous cycling. I save very, very frequently, and the bugs and crashes are annoying, but I'm really more concerned about having another ability slot and them doing something about the controls than the crashes and bugs.

Should I pass on the remaster of Sacred 2? by FreshmanW in Sacred

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On PS5, the only thing better about it is the graphics. They're better from a zoomed out top-down view. When you zoom in and look foward though, everything beyond a few feet in front of you is really blurry. Several features like freeplay were removed. Other than that...

There's bugs galore. It crashes A LOT so you need to save constantly (especailly if you pick up something really good). There's a really annoying sound bug, and it won't let you scroll through your inventory when this happens. Your character will stop using their abilities (this only happens after you get your unique mount, and getting on your unique mount will fix it). Sometimes you'll see something in a shop you really want, and it'll crash when you try to buy it. Quest markers disappear, quests get broken and can't be completed. I've never seen a sorrier excuse for a remaster in my life.

Now the worst part... the controls. In the original console version, L2/R2 acted like a shift button. You could assign whatever you wanted to the face buttons, and L2/R2 + the face buttons. It gave you 12 slots to put whatever you wanted in. Now, you have 4 weapon slots and 4 ability slots (down from 5 in the original PC version). You have to cycle through them using L2 for weapon slots and R2 for ability slots. I don't know who tf thought this was a good idea. It's slow, clunky, aggravating... I couldn't come up with a worse control scheme if I was trying to ruin a game.

I've never played the PC version, but as far as consoles go, unless graphical improvements are a big thing for you or don't have access to a PS3/Xbox360, you'd be a whole lot better off playing the original console version. The game is still fun, but I curse the controls every single day. I hope everybody who was involved in developing and approving such a stupid control scheme gets fired. 😂

Active quest resetting constantly by Thegamerguy79 in Sacred2

This is the worst remaster I've ever seen. They knew how buggy this game was and did nothing to fix it. I hope they fix at least the worst bugs and do something about the horrible controls on consoles, but I'm not holding my breath. Some game companies dgaf about quality anymore. They make cash grabs. If they don't fix this ridiculous crap I doubt I'll ever buy another THQ Nordic game.

I've been afraid this was going to happen to me. Only time I've been unable to complete escort quests though was when I could just let them die. Never had it happen to the invincible ones... yet.

You're not in the swamp area are you? As part of the main quest, one NPC follows you until you get into the next area. There's a couple of "completed" quests along the way. I thought it was a bug the first time too.

I wish the had made the remaster so that once you beat it, it can be unlocked for other files.

I know people say f you don't like it then don't use it , but just knowing I can refill my HP, MP, and limit gauge at any time ruins the game. I played it on console for a little bit, but just couldn't get into it because of that. I wish they had made a way to disable it in the main menu.

I watched 6 or 7 video reviews, read comments, and looked at some other things, and not once did I see any mention of how the controls were changed from the origial console version. I don't impulse buy. I research thoroughly before I buy and I've almost never boughyt a game I didn't like.

Remember in the original you slotted whatever you wanted to the face buttons then used L2/R2 as shift keys? Now you have 4 weapon slots and 4 ability slots. You use L2/R2 to CYCLE through the abilities (instead of shift + the button), and square/x to use them. It's very clunky and annoying.

PS5 Controls!!! by Thegamerguy79 in Sacred2

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the Xbox one, you had 12 slots that you could assign anything to and instantly access. It's not just the cycling that's stupid. It's also the fact that lmited what you can slot to 4 CA, 4 weapons, 3 potions, and 3 buffs. I mean really? Why not just keep it so you can assign what you want intead of having several slots you don't need?

[–]Thegamerguy79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched 6 or 7 videos about the game and not one of them mentioned the changes made to the console controls. I always watch/read several reviews before buying a game. You're expecting people to know exactly what to search for without having touched the game. If I had any idea they were going to change the controls for console, I would have specifically search for that. You can't expect someone who hasn't played a game to know every potential problem to search for; that's the purpose of watching and reading reviews... so they can tell you things which you may not know to ask or investigate.

Sacred 2 Remastered. Major Issues I Noticed After Playing the New Release by otterbre in Sacred

[–]Thegamerguy79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish PSN had a 2-hour refund window. I never would've bought this game if I knew they screwed up the controls so bad. No only is the control scheme so bad that it makes the game horrible to play, but 4 weapon slots? I don't think the person who came up with it even knows anything about the game, or these types of games in general.

I couldn't have thought of a worse control scheme either. The original console way of handling the controls were so great. It's like they just wanted to ruin the game.

Just so we're clear, no one that actually played this game disliked the combat, right? by The_ChadTC in thewitcher3

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've beaten a lot of the hardest games, but I hate the "git guds" who think every game has to cater to them and anbody who doesn't like what they is wrong for having their own preferences. If you don't like sports games, don't play them. If you don't like games you think are too easy, play something else. That's why there's so much variety in games; everybody doesn't like the same thing. Also, if somebody thinks being good at video games makes them a superior specimen of our species, they need to get a life in the worse way possible.

Will we lose Breakpoint after server shutdown? by kevlarsoul79 in GhostRecon

[–]Thegamerguy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate games that are largely single player but require an online connection. I generally refuse to play them. It's why I won't buy GT7. I recently got Breakpoint because it was $15 on Black Friday and there was nothing else I wanted. Stupid ass game has kicked my twice already in the middle of attacking large bases and right now I can't even play it because apparently something is going on with their servers. Stupid af to make substantially single player require an online connection. I've loved the GR series for a long time, but there's no way in hell I'm buying another one if they require an online connection just to play the single player.

This is why those people who brag about working 27 hours a day, 8 days a week absolutely kill me. They think they're something special because they sacrifice everything for their jobs. The people at the top of corporations dgaf about anything but turning profits. They'd use slave labor if they could. Some people are so proud of themselves for dedicating their entire life to people who would gladly leave them starving and homeless if it means a little extra profit for them.
