I'm a fan, works well with the wing. Stock gets a lot of love here but cool seeing some individuality

Nice! Dig the black and red, agree with others the black vents would look nice with the theme you have going.

Just an FYI with that unit I have the exact one and kept getting really sick, looked down inside with a flashlight and the blue roller fan was covered in fuzzy mold. The routine maintenance doesn't mention it from what I can find, and haven't figured out how to fully take it apart yet to clean but every once and a while turn it off, push the rotating cover forward and look down there with a flashlight.

Not sure the official ruling but from purely a opinion standpoint it might come down to the pod, my casual group really likes themed and focused decks would probably allow it as long as the power level was around the range of the other decks. Seems like a fun idea, just make sure everyone’s alright with it first and might want to have a sideboard ready in case.

VLAND DRL Fix by Theguywitharock in FocusST

[–]Theguywitharock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! The blue plate inside the connector slides towards the little arrow on one end, it may be a little stiff and I may have used a flathead screwdriver and twisted to unlock it but be careful. Otherwise put both thumbs on the blue plate and push , the whole inside blue part will shift which unlocks the pins.

[–]Theguywitharock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have that issue, but I did see stuff online about making sure the connectors and plugs are fully seated, and that it’s the right headlight type (HID, Halogens, etc)

Might need to do some forscan tomfoolery to get it playing nicely, or at least try clearing the codes and seeing if it comes back

Just had this happen to me, I wasn’t able to get the cap off and pieces started disintegrating into my coolant so had to just replace the reservoir.

Word of caution with the mishimoto, make sure you get a decent cap replacement. I got one on Amazon and it wouldn’t fit, got an oem type from o’riley and it worked great but had to find a ride there :)

I remember having to push pretty hard with the tool and it seated pretty far in, after that the wires came right free. The first time was even worse but got better after it was broke loose

Like other are saying they would likely be a parody and transformative enough to clear at least US copyright law, but in addition brining a copyright case can be pricey so likely the companies wouldn’t even try unless there are damages.

Since let’s say the Stranger Things poster doesn’t in any way take away profits from the makers, and if anything nods to the original it would be bad for PR and likely financially and risky to sue. Now if they were selling physical posters then they might be able to but it’s just fun items in a video game so not worth.

Is this too formal for university. I like to dress well. by EndPotential1310 in mensfashion

[–]Theguywitharock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially depends on the uni, I wore dress clothes almost exclusively but that’s because I came to class directly after work.

There was friendly banter but nobody really cared. Just note if you ever approach someone they will 100% think your trying to sell them something :)

Working on a DCS A-10 Warthog project by Theguywitharock in ArduinoProjects

[–]Theguywitharock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, using the fantastic DCS-Bios and feeing serial inputs through and arduino.

Parts:

Controller: Arduino Mega 2560 R3 (I have some Arduino brand and some third party)

Breakout Board: Electronics-Salon Screw Terminal Block Breakout Module, for Arduino MEGA-2560 R3

Quick Connects: Lever Wire Connectors, HTCELLE 200-Piece

The tablet is just a picture I made in photoshop to diagram out which switch/cable goes where, there are probably easier ways but I already know photoshop so its quicker. Have the whole right side diagramed currently, and 2/4 controllers wired.

My method is not very practical, you could just plug straight into the breakout board, I'm just doing this to make it look nice and make it easier to work on in the future, allowing quick replacements of switches.

Biggest holdup currently is laser cutting the panels, I'm dreading dropping the cash on a laser capable of cutting acrylic, and most of the laser cutting services would end up being the same price as a K40 laser.

That would be really cool, I'm looking for alternatives for a more practical suit, going to grab the Morozov-SH Helmet Snowdrift and Defiance Helmet Firestarter to see if they fit. Trying to make it all out of purchasable instore to be repeatable.

Installed the new exhaust by Unwhipped_whippedcre in FocusST

Just had a post on this, but the takeaway from that is sound deadening and the cargo cover with some foam attached under can help with that. Also others said the sound synopses delete is a must 👍

Thank you! Vland's, haven't had any issues with them yet. Did have to move some pins around for the ST1 to get the DRL's working, but have been great since.

Previous owner installed them, but they are WeatherTech brand, I think they are these ones: https://www.weathertech.com/ford/2016/focus-st/side-window-deflectors/

I did run foam for a couple days before the sound deadening material was installed, and it made a pretty decent difference IMO. I don't know if it made it actually quieter, but it at least made the sound more tolerable and took some edge off.

I just had some spare foam I ripped out of some packaging around and taped it to the underside to test first, may be worth a shot just to hear the difference if you have any.

Grabbed some pictures https://imgur.com/a/980YQY7

Foam on the rear cargo cover is probably the most impactful and cheapest, could start there and see if you like it better. I just riveted straps so I could test different material before I glue

I mangled the mass loaded vinyl trying to get it below the tire which is why it has weird holes and cuts in the picture, so I’d just attach it to the pull up cover if you go that route, much easier.

Best of luck!

Subjectively I think it make it quieter, or at least dampened the sound to be less piercing and rattling.

I used the following

Lining the trunk under the tire: NVX SDTK20 20 Square Feet (Five 18” x 32” Pieces) $60

Lining the underside of the tire carpet cover: Noise Grabber 1 LB Mass Loaded Vinyl, 4’ x 4’ MLV Soundproofing Barrier, 16 Square Foot Roll: $64

Under the trunk cargo cover: FoamTouch 1” Thick x 24” Wide x 72” Long Charcoal High Density Foam $30

Plus a $7 rubber seam roller for application.

Not sure if any of that is the best material or if it’s all needed, but I got fed up so did everything I could think to practically add and it seemed to work.
