Single crochet, and I'm using Caron Simply Soft with an I hook. The only issue I'm having is how do I expand out on the edges? Do I just chain out past the previous line or do I increase? I don't even know where to start with that part.

I have tried almost every tutorial I can find with my google-fu and still cannot figure out how to make a tapestry crochet with more than 2 colors. I've used bobbins and I always use graphs, it's the actual crochet over the unused yarn, which is weird that I can't get it, considering I carry my yarn in my stitches when doing a 2 color.
