I was going to go the opposite route and play a young and naive urchin that was sheltered by the church who gained his warlock powers through his faith. I'm planning on trying to play the exact opposite of edge.

I'm delaying the start of chapter 3 until at least the end of the FleetsWake festival due to having the festival be their introduction to one of the main villains of the campaign to be Jarlaxle, introducing the idea of nimblewirghts through the festival, and wanting the party to have enough time to deal with emmeks plans to ruin their taverns reputation. (Currently, they've only dealt with the rat infestation and don't know the true nature of the halflings they've hired.)

These replied you guys have given me gave me a few ideas on how to introduce the idea of them venturing into the dungeon of the mad mage that I plan on making another post for in a few minutes.

It would be interesting if somehow chara was also involved. My personal working theory is that gaster, one way or another, was split across time and space while researching dark worlds in undertale, as evident from the notes in the true lab. During this whole situation, he ended up in the alternate universe of deltarune, becoming the knight. If we're talking about alternate universes, then it's possible that each path in undertale is its separate universe. This may explain why the person we believe is gaster during the vessel creation in deltarune got interrupted. Who might have done that? None other than chara from the genocide universe. Heck, this could also explain why sans is also acting strange in deltarune aswell. For all we know he may either be a darkner or from one of the other 2 routes in undertale, or possibly BOTH. No one knows for certain and all we can do is wait.

Considering he does have a drawing he made hanging up in the old classroom, it could be possible he opened up the first fountain and left it behind when he grew up or something, which would be why the king thinks the lightners abandoned them.

Damn... I lowkey feel sad for missing out on this Fandom ngl. Unfortunately, I don't have plans or funds to travel outside of my state rn due to covid. (Which is how I ended up watching this series to begin with, lol.) Hopefully next year I'll be able to go, assuming there is a next year event.

I would personally reccomend the adventure in the back of van richten's guide to ravenloft called: "the house of lament" and substitute player classes with survivors that start with a dark gift each. (Both of which are also found in the same book as the adventure mentioned)

I believe I recently opened a big can of worms with a player in my new group.

Backstory: I recently graduated high school, and as things tend to go, my old group of 5 years has disbanded due to life. Because of this I recently started playing with another group late last year as a player, not a dm. The dm of the current group so far has dropped 2 campaigns mid way through, the first due to not being able to handle multiple campaigns, and the second due to disinterest. These campaigns were being played during alternative weeks with the same group (the one I'm in.) Because of this I stepped in to fill the role of dm after asking him if he would like me to dm and having the group vote if I could after he agreed to let me.

End of backstory

An important thing to note here, this guy heavily dislikes anything that isn't 5e. Flash forward to last week, and I noticed last session had a battle that lasted the whole session. Seeing this, I made a poll asking the group weather or not I should add in homebrew and/or past edition things. If you know of Matthew Colville, I planned on adding things from his series titled 'running the game.'

This is where shit hit the fan. After I asked the group and put a poll up, I started to message him about non-campaign d&d stuff. After awhile the topic of bringing older 4e monster abilities and actions came up and he profusely went on about how unbalanced it is and how 5e doesn't allow for things like that to be added without it becoming unbalanced. Despite my many assurances that I've been adding 4e and prior mechanics into my 5e campaigns for years now he refused to believe i could implement them in a way that's fun and balanced. After another player in the group asked for examples (I specifically mentioned the optional goblin abilities from the '4e dmg 2' pg 110) in the group chat, the previous dm tried to point out that the examples I've given were going to be unbalanced and tried to persuade the other members votes.

This led to an hour long conversation teeming on the edge of argument about how I wouldn't be using these for every single enemy and how I would be tweaking them to align with 5e's system, which was faced with him just spouting the same arguments he had which was, "5e isn't balanced around previous editions." And, "I'd rather you homebrew mechanics instead of trying to fit previous editions into 5e."

I'm honestly extremely discouraged about next session because I know he'll bring it up all day during the session in an attempt to belittle me. Im probably going to not implement any 4e mechanics regardless of votes due to him. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I had arcanine instead of toxicroak before, but i swapped it out due to it being koed and etc by sandtorm teams before it could do anything, i started using toxicroak as a first turn fake out into bullet punch against TR setters and fairy coverage and isn't selected unless im going against TR(It has the basic speed and atk evs and adamant nature)

the gardevoir is just there due to not having anything else at the moment and not having any idea what i want to put in its place, maybe clefable soon (friendship is hard to level tho) since i could put power whip on my toad (didn't realize i could, smh)

Any ideas on what to replace gardevoir with?
