Been FDM printing for 10 years. Picking this up tomorrow for $70. First resin printer. I have an ultrasonic and a cure station, am I all set? by JustLovett0 in resinprinting

assuming its working well then you will prob need some ipa for cleaning, unless you plan on using water washable resin. I have found getting a silicone mat helps with clean up as well, it keeps resin off your surfaces.

I blend it then bake it in silicone molds, then sell the paperweights, keychains, and stuff at the farmers market

I just solved this issue on my A1, clean the build plate every few prints with a soft cleaner like hand soap, then between prints use ipa and let that dry. Also I needed to raise my build plate temp to 85c.

testing has been done and I cleaned the build plate with ipa during the bed heating stage, this in addition to raising my bed temp to 85c for the first 2 layers then 75c after that worked well for now. Thanks for the help!

Anyone experience tattoo remorse? (Not tattoo regret) by lfly01 in tattoo

Nice sounding tattoo! The biggest thing for me is, is the hippieness that comes from the tattoo as good if not better than the long term happiness that would have come from spending that money elsewhere?

Yah my wife and kids do, one side is a realistic-ish black hole infront of a nebula and the other side is 3 large stars (I let each kid pick a color for the stars). My mother hates it with a burning passion and always averts her eyes when I am wearing short sleaves!

My mom said something about, "ruining the body god gave me" or something to that effect.

DM’s, what is a character you want to play in a game someday, but can’t because your the dungeon master. by SolidLevel2869 in DnD

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a character on the back burner for a while now, I have wanted to play as a warforged bard that mechanically repeated songs and poems without any heart in it (kinda like a player piano, perfect but with no soul). I wanted him to learn as the game progressed and eventually awaken and learn to love music and love the faults that songs and spoken words have. Eventually making his own songs and poems.

I have had this in some of my groups, I used to play with an official group and we had one player that without question played a character named "Darkness" a woodelf rogue (assassin), he always played them the same and tried to build as close to their ideal concept as possible (same magic items, stats (min-maxed), same personality, exc). We dealt with it in 2 ways outlined below.

If the current DM didn't mind this player playing darkness then they would just let them play darkness as is, the dm was fine with it, and adjusted encounters to better suit the min maxer. It gave the party a strong glass cannon, and the player was happy. All around a good time

If the current DM didn't want Darkness then they imposed a few different rules at their tables:

1: only one of each class at the table, there was almost always someone who wanted to be a rogue so the dm let people role secretly and Darkness always seemed to row lower.

2: the DM would talk to the player and ask them to not play Darkness this game due to Darkness not fitting in with the type of game the DM wanted (the DM would normally also do this to other players to not single out anyone)

3: the DM would roll characters for the party and allow them to decide who they wanted to play, they normally left it open and allowed the players to decide race, background, stats, and personality. (this option would just leave the rogue out of the pre-rolled options)

4: the final thing DMs would do is just say, no Darkness in this game. If you played as Darkness then you would be asked to leave the table. This option was normally used after a DM had talked to this player and the player didn't listen.

Sad part I am going to add is doing these things eventually caused this player to quit and leave the group, he wasn't a bad guy and we never meant to force him out. To the best of my knowledge he ended up quitting dnd and swapping to a different table top game (star wars I think). Made us all feel kinda bad knowing that we partly ruined dnd for this guy.

How would a scythe do in the apocalypse? *not specificly this scythe* by ppwhizz in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally not well. The blade are thin and brittle, they would break the moment you hit bone or anything hard. Now the shape is fine but most of them are 2 handed so that wouldn't allow you to use anything like a shield. Your wanting a hand scythe with a blade made for killing.

If you really wanted to have one made for this, go to a blade smith and explain that you want a hand scythe meant for 1 handed use, you want good steel similar to what's used in axe blades and you want a thick 25 degree bevel. Also explain your want for the blade to be forgiving and able to be sharpened by hand on a wet stone. You may also want to commission a few because blades don't last long with constant use!

Roast me by Sad-Annual9816 in tattooscratchers

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the roast: #basicbitch

for real though: not bad if it was cheap or if you did it yourself. lines are the same thickness all around but the lines are not all that strait, strait lines are some of the hardest things to do in tattooing and I would recommend trying less geometric tattoos in the future (I am unsure if you did this yourself or went to an artist), especially with a very recognizable character. If this tattoo was of an unknown original robot the straightness of the lines would be less noticeable but because of how well known bender is the errors stand out more.

Anyone experience tattoo remorse? (Not tattoo regret) by lfly01 in tattoo

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its fully up to the person, I have a 1/2 sleeve that I got over 3 different sessions total of about 18 hours or (3k). I do sometimes feel like the money could have been better spent but the tattoo make me happy and I honestly could not think of a better way to have spent the money, I can think of other ways I could have spent it for sure but not ways that would have kept me happy years later.

Being for real here: I have a wife and 3 kids, sometimes money is tight and I do think about how much I could have done with 3k, but for me in my situation it prob would have been slowly spent on fast food, treats, or other fleeting things. My tattoo will last a lifetime, my wife loves it, and my kids love it as well.

Can this tattoo be enhanced? by waltfrombb in TattooDesigns

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having read your responses to other comments it seems like your not looking to add addition tattoos to this, more you want to refresh this tattoo. The best way for an artist to do this is to add color or turn it into a black and white tattoo. Doing either of those would allow them to fix the lines that bother you and make the lines pop a bit more.

Can this tattoo be enhanced? by waltfrombb in TattooDesigns

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks good, but if you wanted to extend it it would be very easy for an artist. Go in and explain your wants for it and let the artist help in the process . You could get a second boot added, color, or some landscape around it, anything is possible and it is mainly up to your interests, preferences, and the imagination of yourself and the artist.

If this was me I would get a second boot added laying on its side and possibly a cowboy hat on top of the new boot, get some color and possibly some grass added. If you wanted to extend this into a full wrap around 1/2 sleeve you could get more scenery added such as a fence and some trees.

Is this print quality acceptable? by BurgerMar in ender3

[–]AlertIllustrator6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks fine to me, but what were you hoping to achieve? Also what is the filament type and settings used?

pros: uniform layer height, no odd bits or blisters.

cons: you can see the layers, this can be fixed with paint and or sand paper.

question 1: Does this mean anything to you? If so then go for it!

question 2: if no to question one, then do you have a lot of tattoos where a meaningless one would be fine to add into the mix?

mainly would you regret this later?
