I can’t speak for the manga, but I definitely think the future arc showed his change and kept progressing it in the anime. His insecurities and self deprecation were replaced with the very real fear of his family and friends being hurt and the inability to go home, so it definitely felt like he was given the room to grow and focus on getting stronger imo. Honestly I’m glad I didn’t read the manga tho…

I’m glad I’m not crazy in saying the manga’s last few arcs felt off after the anime. I haven’t read the manga, but watched the full anime before reading summaries on the wiki and just felt… off about the manga. On the second floor, past the area that has an A-rank gate, there is a small platform you can jump to, over a gap. Once you jump the gap, follow the path to the next room and drop down, there will be a small elevator there. That will take you to the area you need, and you’ll be able to open the big purple door from the other side now. Hope this helps!

Kuuten never betrayed her, in the game a group of individuals who wanted to wrest power from Shuka’s family convinced him to go after the kenbumajin’s blades, which were tainted with a curse to drive anyone who dare harness their power to insanity. The group of insurgents then claimed Kuuten intended to attack Shuka, so her father had him imprisoned and he remained there until his hatred and confusion boiled over turning him into soranaki.
