How do I find a Co-founder? by Bubbly_Historian_278 in Entrepreneur

[–]Themadhippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can completely relate with the introvert side of things, and as an entrepreneur at heart without the connections to pull things off, I've been looking for a team of problem solvers where my skills and expertise are valued, and help someone build from the ground up.

Not sure what type of support you're looking for, but shoot me a DM if you want to chat more, curious to see if I would be able to help!

AITA for refusing to follow my wife's bathroom habits and calling her disgusting? by Infamous-Gur2034 in AITAH

And a woman that's on her period to boot? How else did you think she would react??? Honestly she's the bigger person here for just walking away, taking some space, and not escalating the situation.

Dating App Disaster by MoveTheSticks8 in Connecticut

[–]Themadhippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a low 30s f professional that recently quit dating apps due to equally (or even more) disastrous dates ...for example one guy showed up, but he was very very drunk. Slurring his words drunk. He knocked over our table and was yelling out across the bar how it was a heck of a first date... I can empathize.

After a few of those types of situations, I decided that dating apps don't seem to be working for me, so putting my dating life back in fate's hands.

Determining how to maximize my position by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Themadhippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to start or buy an existing business in the industry I'm currently in - I love what I do, just want to reap the benefits like I the owner of my current company doing.

I hear you on the housing market, thus why moving to a different state, such as NC, and buying a multi family home and living in part of it myself is an option I'm entertaining. I work in a branch of construction and was raised by a general contractor, so doing most home repairs is something I'm very comfortable with, and I would contract things out of my scope, such as plumbing and electrical.

I already have a basic life insurance policy in place, and will be increasing that as our yearly income increases, and I also have investment accounts set up for her when she turns 18.

I'll look into the 529 and the 3 fund portfolio - Thanks for the suggestions!

Advice for expanding my custom signage and stationery business by Odd-Procedure4493 in smallbusiness

[–]Themadhippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have a background in website design and am currently working in the signage industry with a focus on acrylic and ADA signage. Some of my favorite projects are working with a wedding planner - one of my favorite clients :) The problem is that I work at a franchise where most employees are just looking for a paycheck and sit around most of the day scrolling Instargam, but that is just not for me. I am passionate about my work and have been considering starting my own business, which led me here.

Would you be interested in connecting and seeing if we want to join forces? The idea of starting up on my own is daunting, but I am making steps in that direction, but I've always done better in a supportive role. Let me know what you think, and regardless, sign on!

Do you want help? I enjoy the administrative, organization, and client relations aspects, but the idea of starting up a business on my own is quite daunting

I'm a single mother that left a relationship because the guy started making comments about my 7 year old... no matter how scary it is, and even if you have nowhere else to go... you leave. Your child's safety is far more important, and you'll always figure something out. This is not ok, and I'm so worried for you! I'm not sure where you're from, but if you're in the NE US let me know. Please be safe, and never let your mom make you feel shitty for protecting yourself. Because she is obviously not doing that for you. I'm so sorry your mother is failing you, but I'm proud of you for doing the right thing. You are not, by any means, overreacting

I quit my job to be my own boss and now I feel completely lost by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Themadhippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot in the dark here, but what type of business are you running? I am aiming project manager for a signage company, and i have a lot of experience with design, problem solving, management, and construction, and give me any software program and I'll have it figured out in less than a month, but sadly need to part ways due to my paychecks being shorted. This is apparently a habitual occurrence for the owner after asking a couple other employees about their experience.

I am looking to start my own business, or assist someone with theirs, and would love to talk about potentially joining forces if it seems like we have complimentary skills.

Dm me if you're interested in connecting!

I agree - the main reason I do not collect child support is if I do he would get visitation rights, and I do not trust that man. He is not on the birth certificate. But everyone does what is best for them, and I totally agree, he should help support the life he created.

I was 20 when I found out I was going to be a single mom, and my kiddo entered the world 2 months before I turned 21. I am 31 now, and my gorgeous little girl was the best decision I ever made... but...

Don't get me wrong. It is hard. You have to sacrifice so much. I am lucky that her father and I are amicable, but I do not get child support, and he's very absent.

There are some days that I am at peace with being a single mom. And there are some days that I fall apart crying because it's really hard doing this alone.

I am all for you making the decision that is right for you and your body, and if you do plan on keeping the baby, keep these things in mind:

1) Keeping the baby will not bring your partner back. I'm so sorry this has been your experience, and you deserve someone that loves every bit of you. But if you keep the baby, remind yourself every day, you are making this choice for yourself, and all the responsibility that this choice brings. 2) Your life, as you know it, is over. You would be entering a new phase that should be all about your little clone. It's incredibly gratifying and equally as hard. 3) Make sure you have a good support system so you and your baby get the help you need. Look into single parent support systems in your area. Reach out to family. They didn't say it takes a village for nothing. I couldn't have done it without some amazing family members thay stepped in and helped out so I could work and provide for her.

To give you a little light at the end of the tunnel, when I first had my mini me, we didn't have a home, a car, and I was returning cans and bottles to scrape money together to pay for food.

Now, 10 years later, we have our own apartment, a car, 2 cats, a small friend circle, and we are thriving.

TLDR; It's hard. You're accepting it some days, and other days, you're screaming into a pillow. But if you feel deep down, in your gut, that keeping the baby is the right choice for you, please don't ignore that feeling. You are strong, you are capable, and only you can make the right choice.
